I've just listed a lot of 16 delrin stamps in the marketplace section. These are prototypes or on-shot stamps I made last year. Since I don't use them (or can make another when needed) I'm offering them up cheap to clear out the shop. Please take a look. Thanks.

Thanks for looking. I'm doing my end of the year shop clearing. What I've got here is a lot of 16 early delrin stamps that I made. These were non-production stamps or either prototypes or one-time-use project stamps. These are made from delrin and the backs are cut so you can use the tandy hefty handle as shown in the last picture. only one does not have the back cut that way but in all cases you can use an arbor press if you prefer. The size on these is usually 1.25" high. So prototypes are not cut as deep as the others, but you can see the impressions were still good in the examples provided. I usually get $16 on custom stamps, but this entire lot is going for: $48 plus shipping. That's $3/stamp. Payment by paypal. email me at nicksilva@yahoo.com. Thanks and happy holidays.

Happy Thanksgiving Ray! I am very thankful for so many things this year. It is my first complete year in my new business and it is booming. My health is good (relatively), my folks are still with me and doing well, and I haven't had one bad day all year. I've been able to do a few good things for great charities this year and am feeling happy. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving day. Thanks for always being a ray of sunshine. -Nick

Similar story. After parting with the evil empire, I've been able to pay the bills just making stamps and other engraved items. I'm starting to look at a CNC machine which will give me greater capability both in the stamp work and in woodworking. I get to work next door to home and pretty much love my job now.

consider WHO the target audience for this is. Probably some HS or college kid with about $20 in his pocket. Not $200 but $20. Look, the average leather worker is somewhere between 2 and 3 hundred years old. We've seen a lot, we know the difference between good and bad, but the target for this is what I call the "walmart generation". They are not looking for quality (not that they could spot it) but for price. You think they are finding good stuff at walmart? It is simply what they are use to. I sell handmade belts at the local flea market. We get a good price for them. The average buyer is over 50 yo. Young guys that look at them and the price we generally get a "Hell, no" as they walk off. And when you see what they are wearing it is usually some broken vinyl made in china POS. So say what you will, if this guy knows his audience, he is selling some. For my part....YUK!

Hello Brian, Are you looking for a clicker die to cut out the outline? If so Texas Custom Dies is a good source. If you're looking for something akin to a craftaid that will put in all the pattern lines within the shape, then drop me a PM. -nick

How To Get Cocobolo Burnisher From Staining Edge
Studio-N replied to jimmy eng's topic in How Do I Do That?
Cocobolo is a naturally oiley wood and high in silicates. You might try deglazing (acetone) it to remove some of the oils. -
well you've inspired me to try lasering the hair-on wallets. Here are the results. Looks like there is less detail available on the figures to use, but these types of open silhouettes definately worked well. I just have to find some more. Keep up the good work. -Nick http://www.lasered-stamps.com

that should work. It only has to be harder than leather to work.

Agreed. try 3M super 77 available at most hardware stores. Spray lightly. Cut the fabric oversize, then lay the leather on it. Smooth all the bubbles, cut to fit. Use an edge coating of some sort to finish the edge and seal the fabric. Have fun.

It would not be bad IF they actually had the sizes they advertise. A 9 oz single shoulder for instance is $60 retail with a claim of 6-7 sq/ft. Ok, that is $10 s/f on the high side. But after looking at their pile, the average size was 4.75-5ft. that is more like $13 s/f. I'd be pissed if I got a 4.5 sq/ft one. I'm not blaming the store - they can only ship what they get in, but if corporates catalog and advertising says avg 6-7 that is what I would expect. I'm sure they are counting on the fact that many people simply don't do math.

well now there's the rub - they don't care about you or your community. A little background - Tandy is NOT Tandy. They are The Leather Factory started by daddy Thompson and Ron Morgan who are now retired and who have sold most of their stock. Little Jr. Thompson is now in charge but he is NOT a majority stock owner and has never had a real job except for working for daddy and doesn't do leather himself. All he knows is that he has to get the stock prices up so he can get his bonus. That is his main concern. That and making sure someone doesn't buy up enough stock to kick him out. So as long as they can make money by hook or by crook, they will. They expect you to fall in line and pay what they ask. The mgt. in charge right now are some arrogant SOBs. They are making some of the mistake the OLD Tandy made that led up to thier demise. Expect Leather Factory be be 'demised' some day in the future, because whoever does eventually take them over will break it up in a bad way.

Stunning work. I've always loved gourds.

One corretion Ed. Eco-foo-foo is simply what Tandy calls their Line of products. The current EF dye, highlighter, and All in one are still made by Fiebings. Your right, the water stains are made by fenice. I think it was a BIG deservice to put the eco-foo-foo label on the waterstains. I know a lot of people didn't want to even try them because the had the EF label and they thought it would be the same junk. They should have left the Fenice labels on it, but I do understand they want to have a consistent line of products. I definately agree that they work well. totally agree on the pricing. I don't think it's going to get any better.

Hello. I think you're right. they have put all their stock into the new water stains, which i have used and like. I have never liked the eco-foo-foo dyes because they run. I do use the highlighters and all in ones on occasion since they are acrylics. They don't usually announce what they are discontinuing, but you usually get a clue by what they put on big sale in June-September. You should be able to call any store and ask them to look up what stores have a particular color left.

Hello. thanks for looking. I'm putting these here to give the LW members a first chance before I decide to put these on eBay. Up for sale is a vintage Bowling ball kit. I've examined it and everything is there. The leather has some dark areas but shouldn't be a problem if you're dyeing it. Price is $45 plus shipping. Up for sale is a Tandy Satchel Kit. Pretty good kit, everything is there. $60 plus shipping. Just PM me. Payment by Paypal please. Here are the picts.
