  1. I have used them solely for the last year, and have always had fantastic quick next day service and the leather has always been the high quality that I would expect. I have leather from others but the service having to wait a week for delivery and quality have never been the same with brand marks and other faults.
  2. If you make smaller holes as you are sewing the thread will round its self as you pull it through I never had tiger thread laying flat its always round after its been pulled up tight.
  3. you can get a dead blow hammer from wicks or one of those places, I use a thor hammer which has copper one side and rawhide the other then a plastic cutting board from tesco under the leather you are cutting.
  4. there are lots of places in the uk for leather tools and other bits, for glue you could try Abbey or Le prevo. both sell contact adhesive which you do the job you require be careful to get everything alined as you only get one go with these sorts of glue. I use them in my job as a trimmer and once stuck down they take a lot of work to get off again, as others have said they will not be as good as stitching.
  5. I have some Joseph Dixon ones in 8 per inch and 6 per inch. they are very nice to use and are sharp.
  6. You could try here and ask if they have any off cuts for sale of the coloured finished shoulder. http://www.metropolitanleather.com/shop/
  7. very nice tool roll
  8. Thanks Renee I agree with you its nice to get complements and comments from others apart from ours friends and family who are slightly biased towards our work.
  9. Thanks for all the nice comments. Cuffs would be short may be up to 3-4 inches when they are longer as in these around 7 inches we call them vambraces. Sleeze there is around eight hours in these at this point but does not include the design, and the final finish. Tom who now owns these and commissioned them did not want eyelets or linings, the problem with eyelets he said is that they are hard to do up by yourself as the lace is always coming loose. These were finished at the end of last week and then passed onto Tom they were finished in plain black, he did want to have the vines painted green but after doing some samples it was decided that this would not suit Toms look. I will post the pictures later.
  10. Fantastic work you have some great designs, I wish steampunk was big over here.
  11. Very nice I like the colour choice
  12. Hi it will fasten with two poppers on the tab and then laced up the rest like these on the leftt
  13. I made one from plans from the art of sewing ? and think it suits my leather work really well and is easy to use
  14. I use wallpaper lines its available in 170gram weights and I find this lasts well
  15. I use the antique gels and like the finish I get from them, but the straight colours I have never had much success with the first time I used the black the item looked like that it had been painted but ... the finish has lasted with some quite abusive use. I use a lot of oil dyes and analine dyes which I find more consistent.
  16. thanks Jayjay Can I ask is there a reason why nobody comments on my leather work,
  17. Hi I have been working on a pair of Vambraces for one of my friends, they are carved with the viking symbol Mjolnir, Thors Hammer. Al the carving is now finished and I am waiting for them to dry before applying the finish. They will have two poppers fitted and a black cord.
