That first one I think is a pre-tension disc, I don’t think the thread is supposed to go all the way around and back try the eyelet again.

The way I have mine threaded is it goes thru the eyelet-around the disc 3/4 of the way, straight down to the lower disc. It doesn’t go all the way around the first and back thru the elect again.

I've thought about it over the years but never tried it. with all the available options to retain a knife in a sheath I think it actually has more negatives then positives it would provide. for one, it will attract anything metal it can collect which would scratch the blade, which may or may not matter to the owner of the knife. two, over time it's going to magnetize the blade over time. again, that may or may not matter to the owner. personally....I still think about it sometimes but I just can't bring myself to doing it with one of my knives. if you go ahead and do it, I'd recommend using rare earth magnets.

Never said there was a right way or wrong way, just the way I do it. A light box would probably work to, just take longer I suppose.

The one I have had a minimum 30 degree swing depending on the outside air temp before I wired it with a PID. I’m guessing any oven would do but this was set up primarily for tempering hardened knife blades, which require pretty accurate temperatures. When I gutted this thing out I found the temperature sensor wasn’t even in the oven, it was just behind the controls. frankly I have no idea how they thought that was going to regulate the temp at all, it was exposed to ambient air.

On mine I took the cover off the back of the motor, you can see the pedal linkage connected to it. It looks like a car brake of just tiny.

Remember what I said about the motor brake, if yours has it. I took the brake pad out of mine, you had to push the go pedal to turn the flywheel, I didn’t like that.

Those look great. Do you lose use of the bottom dog when you use a holster plate?

Nice! When I got my CB4500 I was a little nervous, never ran a sewing machine. Now I sit right down and get er done. I can count my time doing a knife sheath on it in seconds and holsters in a few minutes, and that’s just feathering the go pedal at a crawl. I’m really liking that machine.

I've never used anything like that, I use the PID oven I have for tempering knife blades, it holds a temperature within + - 3 degrees. at 150 for a couple hours it really hardens up the leather, when you put the gun in it almost snaps in place.

Same here, I always use oil. I put it on then dye the next day.

No lining, just 8-9 oz. Herman Oak. it could be lined, just by using maybe 6-7 oz. with the liner to make it 8-9. I started making holsters using 6-7 because that's what I had on hand for my knife sheaths and it works but I think 8-9 is just right for holsters. I wet mold my holsters then put them in a PID controlled toaster oven on top of a piece of thin card board at 150 for half an hour, then flip it for another half hour and on and on till it's close to good and dry but not to much, not making jerky here. take it out and let it rest and dry till the next day.

I’m North of Tyndall Air Force base now and see lot of cool stuff fly over, Chinooks, Ospreys, fighter jets, last year I was out and heard a loud rumbling coming my way, it was an A10 Warthog. flew right over my place just over the tree tops going really slow, man that was awesome!

I lived in Clearwater, moved there in 1979. I was 3 miles from the beach and two blocks off the main drag going there, when I bought my house there it was mostly older folks in the neighborhood. That changed, folks either died off or moved away and a lot of those houses turned to rentals and more recently Air B&Bs. the last few years living there I hated it, crime and unbelievable traffic, I couldn't wait to move. two years before my retirement I put a house and shop on 30 acres I bought twenty years ago for hunting on and moved right after I retired three years ago. I go down there once a year for a fundraiser show for the Safari Club and set up a table with my knives and some leather. I get there two hours before the show and I head straight North at sunrise the next morning, I don't miss anything down there.

Nice work and living the dream! I make knives too, worked in the Tampa Bay area till I retired then moved 300 miles away to 30 acres in the deep woods. I'm loving it and making knives in the peaceful quiet woods.

I've been taking credit cards for years and never had any sales disputed. I take checks too but I don't do Paypal I just don't like their business practices.

I use Square, you can type a credit card into your phone or, I have a gismo that plugs into the phone, it's only a few inches long and you can swipe credit cards. you can also email a receipt to the customer right there. my last knife show was 50-50 cash and credit cards.

A bottle of oil came with mine, yours should too I would think. I did buy some extra off Amazon, I use it around my shop on all kinds of stuff.

I wouldn't spend money to run a dedicated circuit. I run mine on the same circuit as a deep freezer, a mini fridge, a couple of led shop lights and also a Portable air conditioner running sometimes. I haven't had any problems. your machine isn't going to pull that much.
