  1. Yes, thank you camano ridge. I forgot about them. They are much more affordable.
  2. I've never done it but I've looked into it a little. A quick search of hot foil stamping machine brings up a few companies. http://www.kwik-print.com http://www.aamstamp.com http://www.hotstampsupply.com
  3. Nice work everyone. Thanks for participating. If you didn't post your finished piece do it when you can but hey we're moving on... http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=61451
  4. We're doing tboyce's Dopp kit pattern for February: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=60062W
  5. Join us in the Monthly Keep Making Stuff Challenge. We're using the Dopp Kit pattern for February.
  6. I do this too. Design on the computer, print out and glue to poster board then cut out.
  7. Sounds like you need a strap cutter. Wouldn't that do the trick? http://springfieldleather.com/29508/Strap-Cutter%2CThe-Original/
  8. Bump. Been thinking about getting some Riri also. Bought a practice zipper the other day at Hobby Lobby and it's pretty weak. It's says C&C on it.
  9. Ok people, we are coming down to the wire... From my count we had 33 who posted and 14 have posted up finished pieces... a few weren't clear if they were all in or not and one was just auditing. Hope to see about 15 more pieces. I will start a NEW thread on Sunday, February 1 for the next Keep Making Stuff Monthly challenge. Feel free to keep posting your pics, asking questions and tell us what challenged you.
  10. I cleaned up my edges and painted them, not perfect but I'm ready to call it finished. This is about 4-5 coats of Fenice (Tandy Pro Edge Paint for those of you who may not know) and sanded with 200, 400 & 800 grit, then paraffin wax and burnished with canvas.
  11. Cool video. Is there more? Might have to try the egg whites and sugar.
  12. Have you checked Amazon for books on bookbinding? Also a quick search on Google and you'll find several classes offered in bookbinding. Perhaps not in your area. But they are in the couple hundred to thousands of dollars. If this might be more than 3 books you might consider a class. Edit: Just re-read that you have a bookbinder to help you... Good luck.
  13. Monica the inside looks great. Nice job Rosiart. I think the goatskin looks great and nice touch with the snaps.
  14. http://www.talasonline.com They've got bookbinding supplies. Tandy's probably won't have much for this kind of project. Good luck. I don't think any of that stuff is cheap. Post pics if/when you complete it.
  15. That'd be my guess. I haven't used the 2 ply.
  16. I think the 3 ply is closer to 332. I have it and Lin Cable 432 and the Royalwood is slightly thicker.
  17. Nice work so far everyone! Should be several more posting up in the next few days.
  18. Nice work. The chain & sprocket are nice touches.
  19. Wondering if anyone has this and would like to part with it... Thanks. oops... should have posted this in the Books, Patterns, Videos section.
  20. Both look good. Gotta go with the black and the contrast though. I did a matching archery arm guard & quiver set once and I made the border match the double loop lacing. Maybe try a black border with the black lacing.
