  1. Well...somebody has upped the ante! Nice work.
  2. About to deliver this to it's new owner. Special touch for the key.
  3. Keith - I'd like to know that too. Palladium is what some of them use. Have no idea where they get it. They have it made for them.
  4. Buckle guy carries some nice stuff but it's made in China but it's in their own factory. http://www.buckleguy.com I like what I've received from them and OTB. I would like to find some more luxurious hardware though besides brass etc.
  5. Thanks everyone. The leather I had on hand, 4.5-5 oz, was just a little thin. The book says to use 6 oz. which I would definitely do next time. The lock gave me a little trouble but eventually cooperated. I bought 2 identical locks just in case I screwed one up, which I did. I wasn't sure how best to squeeze the hasp on the flap and I dented the first one. A lot of the stitching was done without a stitching horse/pony/clam. It was just easier to hold it with my legs. David - my Vergez is from Fine Leatheworking dot com. It's a 9/10. If I was making a lot of these I would bump down to a 7 spi and use the Vergez pricking wheel for the curves. I used the 2 tpi on the curves. Only thing I left out was the inside pocket. I didn't have anything thin enough that really matched. It's not quite finished as I'm still painting several coats of Fenice on all the edges.
  6. 3 piece gusset briefcase, Horween Essex leather, fil au chinois lin cable linen thread, hand stitched @ 9 stitches per inch, Amiet brass lock. I basically followed the plans in Valerie Michael's book The Leatherworking Handbook.
  7. Looking for some kind of clasp to fit on the ends of this alligator cuff. Silver, gold whatever doesn't have to be too fancy. I googled a few jewelry suppliers but didn't find anything that would work very well. But I like these two that popped up. Any ideas?
  8. Thanks Mike and thank you for offering to do this! I just thought Regad might have more tips than Mando and others offer. I'm definitely interested.
  9. Ah yep did that... Cover Image and Rotate are the only two choices. Must be my browser. I'm using Safari. Safari does't have it. I'll try Chrome. Nope, Chrome doesn't have it. Thanks!
  10. Does Regad have a website we can look at? I've seen Mando and Fine Leatherworking.
  11. Not sure yet. Had a few ideas. I thought about punching holes and putting a thin shoelace in to tie it up. Too late now but a thin metal strip between the calfskin and gator could have helped close it by bending it around the wrist. Might have to just stitch on a few other pieces with a buckle.
  12. Thanks, I've seen all the things you mention...Cover image, rotate, image moderation, view all sizes....etc... except Delete Image. Do you have to be a contributing member to delete photos?
  13. I've got some old photos in my gallery I'd like to delete and for the life of me I can't figure out how to delete them. I've looked and looked. How do you delete photos? Or can you?
  14. I had a small piece of gator just sitting around. I glued it to a piece of calf skin from Springfield. Cut it out, stitched it and painted the edges. It needed a shine so I used Fiebings yellow soap and buffed it. Not sure if it's supposed to be used on gator but it looks much better. Darkened a little and shined up nice. You can see the original color and a few other projects I did with this gator skin here: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=53554
  15. Another source for leather cord is Endless Leather. It's in Germany and I think they only deal with business'. http://www.endlessleather.com/leather-cords/round-cords
  16. We need a few new tanneries in the US to produce some leather comparable to these luxurious leathers. Goat & calf if anyone is listening!
  17. Nice work. that first is a monster! I got some Horween swatch samples. They mail them out free - just ask.
  18. These two were made before I knew to put the handles on first. The bodies were made of two pieces, stitched together then turned right side out then the handles were stitched on. Don't do it that way. This one was made of one piece for the body. The handles were stitched on first, then stitch the body and flip right side out. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=58466
  19. This one has been sitting around awhile and I finally finished it. I like the way the handles are sewn on much better.
  20. Sweet backpack. I love the contrasting color and textures of the 2 leathers. Nice work on the wallet too.
  21. AndyL1 is who you're looking for. 2nd commenter here: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=58710
  22. It may be Blackthorn.
  23. He's a regular around here. My guess is it's an airbrush.
