  1. Nice work. that first is a monster! I got some Horween swatch samples. They mail them out free - just ask.
  2. These two were made before I knew to put the handles on first. The bodies were made of two pieces, stitched together then turned right side out then the handles were stitched on. Don't do it that way. This one was made of one piece for the body. The handles were stitched on first, then stitch the body and flip right side out. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=58466
  3. This one has been sitting around awhile and I finally finished it. I like the way the handles are sewn on much better.
  4. Sweet backpack. I love the contrasting color and textures of the 2 leathers. Nice work on the wallet too.
  5. AndyL1 is who you're looking for. 2nd commenter here: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=58710
  6. It may be Blackthorn.
  7. He's a regular around here. My guess is it's an airbrush.
  8. Very tasteful, not busy or gaudy.
  9. To me that looks like a dye job with a dauber. They were just heavy on the dye in some places and light in others.
  10. Good stuff. It'd be great to apprentice under an old timer. We just don't do it that way much anymore.
  11. If you want to make a fine finished edge on something that doesn't burnish like thin chrome tanned stuff ... I recommend Tandy Pro Edge paint. It's made by Fenice in Italy. There are a couple of recent threads on it. If you're burnishing thicker plain ole veg tan go with Hidepounder's tutorial: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=18101
  12. TPI depends on the thickness of your leather and thread size. 6 and 7 tpi for thick leather and larger threads. 8-10 tpi as the leather thins and 11-12 for very fine leather & thread used for watchbands.
  13. I've used the pigskin suede for archery arm guards. I just left it as is but let it air out and dry after use.
  14. Seal it with Tan-Kote then Clear-Lac (or one of the other lacquer finishes). The color change with use will be awesome.
  15. Oh right you mean English point ends... I need to get a punch.
  16. Not sure if it actually has wax in it but it is polishable and it's WAY better than Angelus in my opinion.
  17. Thanks JLSleather & Monica! This thread is 432 from http://www.fineleatherworking.com/linen-thread-brown It says .63 mm on their web site.
  18. Yes, it's actually made by Fenice and distributed by Tandy. Both names are on the bottle. This color is light brown.
  19. I've never used any English bridle leather. Have to give it a try soon. Thanks! I got the leather cord at Leather Cord USA. http://www.leathercordusa.com/index.html
  20. I guess they would if the connections fit.
  21. I love this Horween Essex. It smells great. Just a little thick but still worked out. It's one piece so I didn't have to stitch the bottom - way better than using two pieces. Lin Cable thread 9 stitches per inch. Rolled handles also hand stitched. The handles have 6mm leather cord inside. Fenice edge paint.
  22. Thanks! I'm sure everyone who's made dozens of them are sick of them. Ha ha!
  23. Probably the thing a beginner should be making when learning to stitch. You can't go wrong with a Vergez • Blanchard pricking iron. A couple of Horween card wallets and a card sleeve. The black is Essex and it smells great! Tan is Orion. Lin Cable thread @ 9 spi. Fenice edge paint from Tandy.
