  1. So it sounds like you picked it up and brought it to the shop. Cool! Here's is a link to a previous discussion here and worth checking out. Floyd
  2. I thought this is a great point to consider at the start!, not always the case. So if you have a thread size in mind or have seen some at the stores that's way ahead. In the machine find you mentioned I have heard some model types; like H3 or H4 and others im not recalling. This is something you will want to look into for your benefit, someone will give some tips to finding or figure what the machine is on this specifically. Here's a small tip I think? anyway, many threads can be put through the material but to get them in tension/tight it can take some heavy tension springs. Most of these are simply heavier on bigger machines for efficiency so thread can do more than just lay on top of material and so actually secure. I think with some colored thread this same "pop" could be had within a capable size for the machine. Now as in the stickies above, when considering thread for a "duty holster" thread size should be more understood and a lot of that is referenced in them articles. It may be good to consider 138 at the upper/top level in that machine, some might be able to run 207 on the top only side. This is for sure the forum site that has now or had persons doing it if possible and their experience is seriously needed here. Floyd
  3. Nice machine, always was looking for one of them, somehow they got the smooth running really! dialed in. Maybe because they made a bazillion machines for us. Keep us posted on the fun Floyd
  4. Just in case some are interested I seen a pretty cool item, this I seen some musicians using for a variety of reasons. Anyway this smartphone holder and it mounts on the microphone stand. I had seen a few using another big style for a i pad doing sheet music so caught my eye. Seen another doing play backs for practice so hey i took a closer look. Picked this model; bke-mx1, at about 15.00 and it works pretty darn good, its really made for the small 5/8" tube on a boom stand. I didn't realize many are getting mounts for bicycles fwiw. https://www.amazon.com/ChargerCity-Microphone-iPhone-Galaxy-Smartphones/dp/B01N97JSTH It seems to hold the 7+Iphone well, and doing a few photos i used a big stanley tape measure. Its was a bit heavier than the phone and It worked well for an example. This was abstract but kinda helped show the boom length and it ran about 70" extension length so the boom mic stand will be great using other side of the tables. Its odd doing pics or videos trying to illustrate or just goof off to show a few tips around a machine but in some tech classes I was in it really fits the group. Using this and being able to show on a bigger screen where more people can see a certain topic being explained. What i found doing this initially the small table tripod shook from the machine running so in a video the auto focus was getting whooped. I had mentioned the wheels on the new stand and others review of this. I found they are small like a 2" wheel but have a double loc, so they will work fine. The stand is actually pretty good for free shipping considering 15 lbs and about a 48" boxed package, the 60.00 stand is a pretty slick stand and always able to benefit the band! If later a need for a mic or a light I believe the same stand here can be used in short order so a total 75 bucks I'm ok with. Now I can put the ole tripod back up, and glad! as its camouflaged and can be tough working around. In closing keep an eye on any boom mic stands they come in handy while being out of the way. Have a good day Floyd
  5. Thanks Cal I appreciate it, Though it was sent after I made my reply this morning, after waiting yesterday and evening for final email reply from you to confirm all discussions ( remember you out west had plenty of daylight to respond ). So don't be sorry, I made my decision this morning, clear and I stick to it. As i messaged you following your request, i already waited and made the decision before it was sent, a pot of coffee etc. checked all medias. So good luck and better days ahead. happy trails Floyd
  6. In some goofing off time last evening I had searched around for a boom stand as mentioned above. Anyway I found one and with some pretty good reviews I did the PayPal and it was on the way from email transactions. In some reviews the wheels were mentioned so with that and my concrete floor not counting the machine cords, im sure i will look into some bigger locking wheels, but hey these may be perfect. I will need to look into some accessory parts for the mic end and possibly use an adapter with tripod style. Anyway here's a link, and I will in future try to shed some lite again on this. good day Floyd http://www.acedivisioninc.com/Studio-Microphone-Boom-Stand.html
  7. Thanks for the opportunity to bid and make offers, though In agreement on some, as was good as the posted asking others didn't finalize, shucks!. Again a good workup and i learned some things, So with no pay pal invoicing to me after conversing several times i say thank you. In sales by the way, a tip if selling by person, use of a name (not user name) its a good recommendation. It does represent a certain beginning standard after asking for the customers information. While pay pal is interesting, i waited for final invoicing type replies as standard, yet none so I have to move on. So in good harmony, and lessons for both of us, Im out of here on this one! good days in your adventures Floyd
  8. Hey just trying to consider a boom type tripod I could use over a work table that I use a lot! I could really like heavy duty within a small budget here if that can play into any ideas you may have experience with. I know i dont need to explain that standard comment but hey it does set a wavy line anyway Nothing big in weight at the present for cameras, but these or this boom would possibly be used as an actual light boom other times. I seen some just "glancing" over the net and wanted to put this ? up for some of your ideas please, its appreciated. My regular spotting scope tripod just doesn't fit the bill for hanging over a table or leather sew machine. So trying to address this i picked up a small joby tripod and though I like it i really need a boom if im hanging around a machine many times. Thanks and good day Floyd
  9. Id be interested in the stamping tools im seeing if they are BK, ive got a few mauls so maybe bust that up with Sceaden. The swivel knifes are nice in that same bunch but im not that far to have to many of them so Id have to consider parting with them. To close whats avail paypal or give me a heads up in a pm ps that is a great idea for a holder ( the cartridge box ) good thinking good luck there Floyd
  10. Thats a great tip Gregg, the tac number i gave was used on a couple machines as the turn downs were ground off and so only used the screws for stabilizing. When i first seen mine i thought it may be for a 111 actual machine base with its number, and in that its possible as your photo showing a 563 part number. I sure wasn't doubting the company had already made a zillion for about every machine base out there. Just the opposite Is possible to purchase the hook plate covers already drilled eh?, but thats not to tough to do but again im sure these type items could be in the catalogs somewhere. This could be the very reason to give you a call, cutting to the real need in short order. thanks for the tips n pics Floyd
  11. Uwe That's an excellent find and work-up seriously! So now it looks like the main or only place it is secured is on some contact in the grooved sides. Im looking at the first go round of pics. This looks normal or how the original is, is that correct, just for my understanding this morning. I guess back to hunting for bigger fence caps, and no problem there, your on a roll. I was looking in some Hot Rod pieces n parts but the prices were still waaay to related to other fun stuff. Good day there Floyd
  12. It seems to me even with "leather point needles" the bottom side just doesn't look as nice like the top. I guess some of the needles pressure pushes that bottom side out and thread or its tension just doesn't pull it up, so leaves bumps of a sort. Totally understand! and on the other hand its funny how some leather will do better than others and squeeze up like a sponge and so shows on top really deep. I recall sayings, like i really didn't need a groove cut on top with this stuff. So possibly another method to flatten the thread on this part and keep posted on the tips you find work better, thanks. good day Floyd
  13. If you have a chance to view the installation tool part, of a Redi-sleeve or Speedy sleeve. These i have used many times with other work and could possibly be used here permanent or in prototype. I suppose the location of one of these in a "size" could be a pain. Good luck Floyd
  14. I would look into a swing away as above Mixmkr is showing i have liked that style if many task are done. With a photo possibly or just seeing if you have some "already" threaded holes on the flatbed casting, vs the bobbin plate cover. Though sometimes they can be drilled for whatever was used with a pattern made. In any case if you think you could use the part that's bolted/screwed to the casting as above, well that part can be had with this reference and from Tennessee attachment co. part no. TAC460-11 http://www.tennattachment.com/ They have a net site and have been making these type pieces for the factories a really long time. And they have a catalog of them but ya best get several bags of popcorn, again been making a long time standard and just what ever a customer could dream up. I have one as Mixmkr "had" (the 90degree) all setup with the raised feed dog cover plate and such but as happens i needed to do many different projects also and so removed for the factory plate and would like to get "just" the binder part as he did above. good day Floyd
  15. If you by chance have a 241 "HS" model it could have a latch lever. So many times with these letters on the model numbers, they can be a pain understanding or knowing of and so we have to look at other things like photos. Quite possibly as this model could, use a hook #B1830241SA0 that uses most times the lever/latch opener. vs the standard ole hook I was curious on this very same topic early on with a plain ole Juki 1541 i have obtained (used/ brand new works perfect). As it has to my eyes much the same base shafts and gear setup as the 241 not using the latch/lever and thus uses the different style hook that is about half the cost or less. Something i recall hearing about, in some chatter was the manufacture with safety clutch on the 241. There was again someone mentioned different colors of final paint like white vs the hammered, but hey thats the net ya hear all kinds of info! this makes it always interesting here. heres a tip with some levering information that some can use, below in link. have a good day there! http://www.raichert.com/adobe/DNU-241HS Instruction Manual.pdf
  16. Im not positive that controller soley operates the air operations. Seeing some controllers of that quality they the have ability to not use certain functions, its possible a manual for it is available. But the motor voltage is still an issue here, though the controller Im sure is low volt. If you think you may want or need a reduction in speed that would include added torque available for extra thick materials. Then in this case you may need additional funds. With some machines you could easily get a servo going for a couple hundred dollars. Adding to this in short order for that sew machine a reduction pulley system would be a great asset. Floyd
  17. I think that 241 would be good to hold for a bit, I am curious of the color and if there is a model, letter. From little i know trying to use 207 on the top would be tough, and in that specially tuned because its just out of the design range. I would bet its gonna work out after a this repair, good luck and have fun with it. Floyd
  18. Yes they are more expensive with them two models in there standard model 1508n and the 1541s, better is in the beholders op. With the Solarfix 2000/92 thread, yardage on the bobbin runs very close to this in arm measure; (my singer G=22yd), ( 1541 M=28yd), ( 1508 U=38yd). I know this is different than poly or nylon but that's how the bobbin loads with this stuff and maybe similar to some others. I did couple weeks ago bust the very tip off a 190 messing with that several layers thick veg tan. I didn't see it initially and (checked everything else) as it would go down and thump! hit. It was a pain, finally took all the covers off to check timing etc. removed feed dog to see better, and thought why not move the needle. So removed it "after already noticing hook was spot on" and ya the very tip was broke. So I cut the layers of veg apart and found the tip,(like a 64th") might have been 4 miles prior canvas sewing that made it fail who knows So trudging thru I put a new 190 and usual size 19 in and started sewing thru all the thick materials again finishing the testing? I was doing, obviously screwing around with capabilities of the machines. In considering this there for sure times a tough spot on some veg tan that could be way more efficient with a short stout needle but I haven't found a need in canvas yet rather a benefit with height clearance I like so. But really were talking dropping the needle bar up or down a hair and only a prob because im busy on the net, hehehehe The mention 190 sys needle above was on a 1541, thats whats in them all except a 1341 and only because i considered more leather work turning & twisting at the needle possibly, but surely not planning on the thick stuff i was messing with, that was screwing off and im the owner as you are there. have a good day there Floyd
  19. Jacob welcome! to site Sales or auctions are pretty fun to check out no-matter, I seem to find and bring home something I thought was needed? I can only recommend being patient looking for used or even very little used, as all of my finds. Following that, try some more of the same and if you figure all that out let me now the secret. I will say looking around for used machines, that the consideration of lowering your standards to raise your average is not good. Some of the machines may actually be designs of more than 20years old and then again actually that old, never used(the find ) Several machines today have a safety clutch on the assembly and some do not. Having a machine here that's not equipped with one and though I have not tripped any of the others here that have them is considered, and had me concerned earlier on. These are the same series machines so very much the same and get the very same work. To really benefit the safety clutch conversation, its a great thing. In my case with no reduction pulleys adding extra torque and luck could be the ticket. So one might need a running start to trip the mechanism. With that some around here could input on the immediate torque available now days with servos vs clutch motors already at top speed, and say dumping the clutch. Im just not sure on any of that. I can easily say the dealers that are on the site here seem to understand readily what we need for the products we make. So I will easily say the bags and some collars work great with a cylinder arm, but I will tell you if having to do one big canvas cover on a cylinder arm. Lets just say I would not be happy to be around, and although I'm a gett'r done person customers can count on. I would smartly avoid them that day! good day Floyd
  20. Needle, top and bottom feed it looks like similar to a t111-155 tacsew or possibly a old juki. Probably fits great in the denim mfg. lineup. And looks as though the bottom with no thread latch mechanism puts a slightly different duty use. A hair cheaper with less machinery down there like some of the walkers less the latch. Its known compound feed can move some material but many that do tough but thinner material don't have much use with the compound/walker its actually a hassle. I guess its like they say there's a place for everything. Floyd
  21. Welcome to the site!, might you have any photos of the machines you found. Other than a few pics for myself and others to take a look at, I would be curious the build/mfg. location of the 206 at the moment, that machine company has a good following. I guess the 1206 is the newest model, this must be at a dealer. By the way are you located in the U.S. or, as there are people from every location you can imagine participating here and welcome you and with their ability to give some good local advice. Some better conversations could be had with posting in the leather sew machine section good day Floyd
  22. Something I have found in the past, is many machines and types of machinery may need some align marks made. Finding these specific areas requires sometimes a lot more in-depth checking, turning and or aligning of others to designated positions. For what its worth I have recently found in this new interest sewing machinery is the very same. I quickly, finally? found a bit more up front gives me a chance to kickback and enjoy the very reason i started this journey. Ask all the questions you can and want, a great number of members have seen or heard the answers and share these. good day Floyd
  23. Hey thats great work on the shell box pouch, class act! I got a recipe for trap soup, not many care for it though, It maybe because its Powdered! Floyd
