  1. I forget the actual name but most auto parts stores carry 3M spray adhesive that is used for headliners/etc. It should work for what you are wanting to do
  2. You don't need to create a username. When you go to the link, it will automatically open the chat. Then where it says GuestXXX, click that and you can enter your username. As it is not tied to the site, you don't have to use your site name
  3. personally I glue or use double sided tape on everything before stitching or lacing
  4. Ross and I are in chat, come in and join us
  5. I'll either eyeball the letters or I'll take a piece of 1/8" green painters tape and put it down where I want the letters. This works good for curved lines of letters
  6. If you really want to line it, go with 2 layers of 5oz. That way you are only buying 1 piece of leather. 10oz for a small gun should be more then enough. If not, get a piece of saddle skirting (12-14oz) and line it with 2-3oz veg tan
  7. Just looking at the widest part of the blade and the narrow part near the throat, will the blade actually go into the sheath?
  8. I'm no expert on WWE/WWF belts but looks to me like they used a beveller and a background/matting tool to do the interior
  9. If you haven't started yet, when you make your pattern, make the back piece higher where the knife will be sitting. It won't interfere with taking the knife out, but your side will thank you every time you move
  10. I gave up on the irc chat so I talked to my hosting provider and I've got a php chat site running https://darylsleather.com/chat/ Not linked to user names here obviously but you can change your name after entering the room.
  11. The one I just started (as well as one I finished the other day) are both made from 6-7 veg and lined with 4oz "designer" leather. I put about 1/4" of foam shelf liner in between for padding. Will give me about a 10oz overall thickness. 14oz does seem pretty heavy, I have some here that I use for belts after splitting them down to the max my splitter will handle.
  12. I'm doing a cobra style so wouldn't be able to do a slider really but might just do another 8 loops on it. Thinking a belt pouch as well with a flap covering the bullets.
  13. @Stetson912 I'm hoping. I'm debating on putting a set of cartridge loops on it but might be over kill with the loops on the butt cover
  14. Looks like I may have started something in a few minds I'm about to start on a sling with the same pattern to make a set
  15. Finished off another rifle stock butt cover. Made from 6oz veg tanned leather, dyed Chestnut in color. Feathers are hand drawn and tooled. End is hand stitched to cover the back of the stock. Has 9 loops to hold rifle shells in the 30-30, .303 range size. 7.62 will also fit but very tight. I also used the tandy lace cutter to make the lace from some 4oz drum dyed black leather I had kicking around.

you could be right, I know I have seen someone do this pattern without any other tools and I haven't seen the mini5 you are talking about so not sure how it would look if he got off alignment.

look at the areas I've circled, to me those look like knife marks

    Basket weave

sure is but it looks great when you can do it right (which is why I'm not touching it lol)

swivel knife, a ruler and a beveler if you look closely, you can see the knife marks on some of the ends where it meets the cross piece
  20. I know this is not really my work but wanted to show off my "new" Tandy swivel knife with a genuine ruby blade and a part of a belt I carved using the new to me blade. I have to say, this old knife swivels like a dream compared to the new ones I have that seem to almost growl when turning the blade.
  21. if you are burning when using a dremel, you have it turning too fast. Honestly, if you aren't burnishing, there is no point in applying beeswax to the edges. If burnishing is that hard on you, consider using edge paints like these https://www.tandyleather.ca/en/product/eco-flo-edgeflex-8-5-fl-oz-250ml http://springfieldleather.com/Edge-Kote-Black-4oz
  22. looks great Grey. How will the linen thread stand up over time?
