  9. thanks guys, i called him direct, and he answered the phone himself...very nice to deal with, put in my order and gave him my credit card details and the tools are on the way...yeah!!!
  10. i have read with interest the glowing comments about the barry king tools and decided that i should invest in some new tools..i googled him and came up with montana leather..i chose 5 tools bevelers etc and clicked checkout and the total came to $90 which i thought was OK..THEN i had to put in to send them..Australia...and the total for deliver came to $108 making the total for 5 little tools nearly $200. I have had deliveries from the US before and know that is way way way beyond what it would cost them to send these tools to me. Does anyone have any suggestions...i know barry's address and phone number has been listed but he doesnt have a website..should i call him direct?
  11. Glad to hear i am not the only one who uses the kitchen table! The painful part is having to put everything away, then getting it out again. For some unknown reason my hubby and kids dont like eating amongst the leather, dyes and tool. I am thinking of selling one of my kids so i can have their bedroom as a work room....i have one painful teenage son going cheap! No pics...just put it all away again!
  12. sorry to jump in here, just some info....the thinner the leather the more you can do with it...

  16. hi mike, yes people do wear them...fancy dress masquerades balls etc...there is a double strand of thin elastic to hold them on...i sell them on ebay but i dont use 'Derryn", for display photo, i use a plain white sheet draped over him...derryn is the head i use for molding the mask cheers
  17. congratulations, that is a incredible achievement!!! have you thought about self publishing! get it printed and hawk it at the bookshops. Matthew Reilly started this way and now is a world wide selling author. Just checked out your photos....spectacular knives....love the handles and colors

  19. great to see another aussie here, love your whips

  20. hi beav, yep, i love my airbrush for masks. at first i was using a brush but was very unhappy with the results. the airbrush is the way to go. i have just bought a new paasche from ebay and cant wait to try it out. should be able to get some improved shading and detail as it will have a much small spray area than the one i am using now(cheapo). i have also started using the airbrush on the quivers and am pleased with the improved results. the leather dyes spray really nicely.
  21. i wonder if it got salt water on it, the only thing i can think of is just a wipe with a damp sponge and then retouch the color. If the seal has broken down to give the crystal effect, i am not sure what to do.
  22. Is there a basic calculation for the amount of lacing needed to complete a certain length of braid. Example... if i was doing a 4 round braid using 3mm(1/8 inch) lacing, how much should i allow so the finished braid is 30cm(12inches)? At the moment i either dont allow enough or have too much left over. thanks
  23. i am trying to get hold of a female head, maybe it wont be so freaky!
  24. Derryn the head shows his true colors as he models my new mask. I think he is pretty in pink.
