The "slightly" smaller board may work ok. I like the lace idea but, not for this one.. Thanks

I have a tooled wall hanging that I don't want to frame. I though about mounting on a board but, the edges (leather & wood) really do not look right at all for this one. What are some other choices for backing 8 oz leather for a wall hanging. Thanks, Regis

Shorts, Glad to have you join up here. We have a lot of interest and discussions about holsters. Do you do any tooling on your holsters?

Ron, Welcome to the forum. Nice work

I also found it hard to control with enough pressure to actually bevel. I use mine to go over my beveling to smooth it out better.

SRigs, Do the .235 caps work ok on 7/8 oz? It's the longest I see there. Thanks, Regis

First holster... Bersa Pocket Carry
Regis replied to liveneasy's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Greg, First, welcome to this great forum. I wish my 1st holster turned out as good. That should function well. After dying, you can sand (rounding somewhat) the edges and burnish. Moisten the edge and rub vigorously to laydown the fibers. Put on edgekote and rub more. Lately, I've been using acrylic resolene for a finish. There are some excellent and very experienced makers here that will help you with specifics along the way. An edger and stitch groover will help on your next one. -
QUOTE: "Early on, $ was put by folks' names who were willing to ship overseas/out of country. But I don't really feel it's fair to make that distinction since some people will not have a choice (i.e. they are in a place where everyone else on the list is out of country) Then again, there might be some in the US who simply can't afford to ship out of country. So I'm kinda torn on what to do there. " Wildrose, Maybe you should just keep the names of those of us that were willing to ship overseas. If someone simply can not, then just pick one of us (PM) and we'll make and ship an extra one. Otherwise, I agree with running the list.......although I have some anxiety about making something for someone as experienced as ClayM....WOW,,,,,talk about pressure!!!! Regis

I agree with David because he knows design and because it is keeping the oriental motif of the artwork and stool leg.

Beautiful flower BUT, for the price, you could buy the tools, leather, andtake a Pete Main class to carve/tool/color the flower..... and it wouldn't die.

Happy Easter to all around the world. God bless each of you

I agree with Pete, it should not have happened. I often take 3-4 or more days to finish and I put back in bag when not working on the peice. Never had the problem you describe. I do spray occasionally while I'm working and lightly before putting in bag if I'm leaving overnight. I've used plain water and water with procarve. I do keep it in cool area, usuall below 72 degrees. Other than that, nothing special. Regis

Why a leather holster is always better
Regis replied to ryan's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Makes a good point about being in control of your own weapon. Couldn't help but watch this one (about shooting a .577) that came up just after seeing your's. Shooting a .577 ...interesting -
Welcome to this forum. You will find lots of encouragement here as well as some great leatherworkers.
