A New Belt Pattern
Dually replied to hidepounder's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Bob, by now you have to be aware that many of us ( most?) are in awe of your skills, but this time I'm in awe of your patience. All that small carving and detail make me tuckered just thinking about it. Very cool though, and I keep tryin to learn something from each submission. Thanx -
TK, its not that you missed the boat....you're just in your own little dingy. LOL Stay in touch Amigo.

My latest Sheath.
Dually replied to Talfuchre's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Beautiful sheath AND knife. I really like the presentation and photog too. Badger I'd love to hear your "niggle". LOL Thats a new one for me,and I got a kick out of it. I like that you didn't offer unless invited though. -
Mark, Thanks a bunch for the extra pics. Hope my earlier post didn't seem to harsh. We just like to see behind the curtain some times. Nice work.
-
Here's mine that I did some time back. I think I've improved on my oakleaves since then, but it is what it is. I think they add a nice touch to a butt.

Thats Real nice work Mark, I really like that purse, very unique. I have a complaint though, and its not directed at you....no one ever shows the backside or the insides of their work. Everyone has different approaches to the spur straps for example, and is the purse lined? I would like to see more more more. Thanks for sharing those.

Hi Tom, nice work. Real consistant lines with your B/W. Its subjictive of coarse, but I prefer a little more angle when stamping at an angle. (sounds redundant huh?) A border would really add, and the great thing is, its really open to the imagination. Camo is just one option. And I think we've all had finish nightmares.

Dually replied to Timbo's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Awsome purse Timbo, I really like the texture you gave to the flap. Real clean design. -
Thanks all...I wrote it for you guys and gals, who inspire me and help me every day on this great site.

Thanks for the nice words TK and Anne.

Good Company My horse says where ya been Ol Pard, we ain’t ridin much these days I think he hopes this leatherwork is just a winter phase I read this forum every day, I guess I’m quite addicted If leatherworkins a disease, I guess I’ve been afflicted I read each post and view each pic, and take it in in doses I keep hoping I’ll get better through association or osmosis They say you rise to the company you keep, so I guess there’s hope for me I just keep absorbing all your tips, (and copying shamelessly) I’ve learned a Barry King maul is the one I need to get I’ve learned to keep my knives real sharp, and keep my leather wet I’ve learned that some can’t take advise, they get down right distressed I’ve learned that all 3 stitchin guys think their machine is best I’ve learned you’ll ruin finishes, if you mess with them too soon And fingers turn a shade of blue when using vinnagaroon There’s much more to be learnin, but I gotta get outside I think spring has finally sprung here, and I got a horse to ride

Bob modestly excluded himself as among the finer toolers on this forum. In my opinion.

Man, you guys are all amazing, and I want to say thanks to ClayB for all his pics, but dog-gonit...Steve, how in the world are you and some of the other great carvers on this board getting your petals lifted without leaving tracks going under?!! Specifically on the border side of your leaves where you can't hide tracks with a backgrounder. Whenever I petal lift on a flower for example, I track on and flatten the stem or vine near it. I would appreciate any help in this area. I'm just never happy with my carving. Thanks to all in advance.

My latest saddle...number four for me.
Dually replied to Elton Joorisity's topic in Saddle & Tack Maker Gallery
I meant to ask...was it this saddle you won with? You said you only finished this 4 days ago. If not what piece did you have entered? And can we see it? -

Dually replied to Elton Joorisity's topic in Saddle & Tack Maker Gallery
Whats not to like? Very nice. I especially like the border you're using. Looks like the same one on your laptop case which I really liked. Also the buckstich adds a nice touch. I'd like to try that combination of roughout w/smooth insert seat. Nice job Elton. -
Hope it don't slow up your leather work.
-
Thank you Barra, this is a true loss.

Now try to get our horse to stay in the territory when he see's you comin. LOL
-
Those would be a dickens to rope! Kooool on the wall though.

Mark, you've taken a fairly simple project, and made it outstanding. I've been admiring your carving on these, and the detail. Also, like Go 2 Tex mentioned, the background die job is real nice. I too was wondering about the button attatchment behind the concho. I ususally do a tab back there, but you seem to imply that its just a slit in the lining? More pics would be great. And more of your work too. Real nice.

Hey Des, if misery loves company, you have plenty of it Amigo. I lost my job of 20 years at X-mas, and since then thousands more have too. I had a pity party for about a week, then strated looking at it as a new beginning (what else can ya do?) I've used my time practicing leather...(shoveling snow), training horses, (and shoveling more snow) But I just stay busy. My friends say a door will open, and I guess they'er right. But I agree that selling tools should be a last resort. Good luck.

Shhhh....you'll hurt her fellings. She always starts and runs great. And brakes? well....most of the time. LOL

Now here's a topic I can warm up to. YA gotta listen while ya work. For me its Ian Tyson, Marty Robbins, and Chris Le Doux. I think it was Bruce J in an old post on a similar subject that turned me on to Clear out West Radio. And Bob...I too like to listen to audio books, and especially cowboy poetry. Bruce, you say the latest Ian is pretty good? I'll have to get that one now.
