  5. I sew up these bags with a Cowboy CB-4500 that I got from Bob over at Toledo. I use #277 thread with the heavy waxed canvas this machine is great for all my heavy leather and canvas work. I just got a Consew 225 for the light leather work and binding the inside of some of my lighter canvas bags. I have a binder from Tennessee Attachment for the Consew this is a great company if you are looking for any kind of attachments for your machines. The leather on the bags is English Bridle from Wickett & Craig very nice leather.
  6. Leather briefcase I finished. I used English Bridle from Wickett & Craig.

  9. Made these Saps awhile back. I use lead shot to fill the Saps and hand sew with heavy thread. I sell these as novelty items at gun shows. I haven't had much time to hand sew lately. Busy making Waxed Canvas bags on the CB-4500.
  10. The problem was in the tension assembly on the Consew there was a pin that goes into the machine and another little pin in the tension assembly that needed cleaning and oiling. That is the only part of the machine I did not go through and clean and oil. Thank You for the info. The machine is working wonderfully now
  11. Hi I am using #22 needles I have 135x16 and 135x17 I got the needles and thread from Bob over at Toledo. I will make theses adjustments today. I have a CB-4500 that I use for most of my work I want to use this machine for the lighter leather work and binding the inside of some of the waxed canvas bags. Thank You Wizcrafts & DonlnReno I really appreciate the help.
  12. I have a Consew 225 I have been trying to adjust the tension to get the knot in the middle of the material leather and heavy canvas. I have adjusted the tension on the machine almost as tight as it will go to as loss as it will go the knot just stays on the bottom of the material. I have also tried to adjust the bobbin also the machine will not respond. I am using #138 thread and 135x16 & 135x17 needles. I have also checked the timing it looks good. Thank You.
  13. Picked up this nice Consew 225 just finished installing a speed reducer and change out the pulleys on the clutch motor and machine. The machine is ready to be put to work.
  14. Hi I have a CB-4500 I have been using it for leather and canvas work. I had an old Singer 7-34 and sold it. I bought a CB-4500 for Bob over at Toledo he set it up for #277 thread. I sew a lot of waxed canvas bags with this machine. You have to use heavy waxed canvas and double hem all your seams and it will sew very nice with #277 thread. If you try to sew two pieces of canvas with no hems you will see the knots and it is rough on thin leather it is an awesome machine.I didn't want it mess with the bobbin on the CB-4500. I just found a Consew 225 that is in very good condition barely used the guy bought it from Sewing Machine Exchange and barley used the machine. I am going to use it on the lighter materials and put a binder on it from Tennessee Attachment Company. I am changing the pulley on the machine and motor to slow it down.
  15. This is an old Dake Arbor Press a friend had setting on a Bridge Port in his basement. He let me use it for my shop. I cleaned it up painted it came out nice. I use this press on every leather project.
  16. Shop is in the basement. A good friend made me the Zappa banner that is on the wall.
  17. Picked up this Consew 225 today it is in very good condition. Need to slow it down for leather and canvas work with a small pulley on the clutch motor.
  18. Singer Class 7-34 very good shape working Sewing Machine with motor and table, all ready to go. Machine has reverse and a walking foot. Made for heavy leather and harness sewing. This machine can sew up to 1 inch of stacked leather. It has been modified with a foot or top driven reverse. This machine can sew leather , nylon , horse harness , horse blankets , sew parachute harness , tarps , tents , canvas etc. I use this machine in my leather shop 3 to 4 times a week making canvas and leather goods. The machine has extra bobbins , needles , and a new extra shuttle hook. I have a youtube video that I made making a leather gun belt I have attached the link you can see the machine working. I have more pictures on craiglist Chicago. http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/for/5217305174.html Singer 7-34 $1,500.00 OBO. The machine is located in Plainfield IL 60586
  19. Hi THRLeather & wig190861, I don't have an issue with the smell. After it dries I use neats foot oil. After I am finished with the piece I use Fiebings Aussie Leather conditioner. You don't have to seal the leather Vinegaroon does not rub off on your clothing. It's a chemical reaction that dyes the leather. Hope this helps Thanks
  20. The peddle on the right is for reverse. To adjust the stitch length there is a bolt on the left side of the deck for the adjustment. It was set up with reverse by the Singer Company that is way the stitch length adjuster is not on the front of the machine. I love these old Sewing Machine.
  21. I found a Singer 7-34 it dates back to 1924 it will sew over 1" of leather. This machine was rebuilt in 1995 by the Singer Company and was set up with reverse, the gentleman I bought it from used it to make and repair saddles and harnesses in the Upper Peninsula of MI. This machine is in very good condition I was very lucky to fine it. The drive up there from IL was about 6 hours and was worth the ride.
  22. Hi Eddie1968, The I have an old Singer 7-34 Industrial Sewing Machine that I use to sew up my belts. I still hand stitch a lot of my leather work. Thanks
