This is my alltime fav musicvid. Shot by Jonas Åkerlund before he got contracted by Madonna. This is heavy metal and viking influences. Those who like heavy music may be able to trace this bands influences to a certain american viking band (most members Italian origin) from the 80's, the mighty the brave..Manowar. Bathory is the name and Jonas (Boss) used to play the drums and the only other real member was Quorthon (in essence, he is he band) who has now been sent on to the great golden hall. Oh and I don't expect so many people here to like it but it's not the ultra fast music with growling singing that has put Scandinavia on the metal map forever. Robert Trujillo is to me the bassplayer of suicidal tendencies. The other does not really exist for me after Justice for all (wich I think is a quite mediocre album allthough it has some originality). I love Suicidals first album. Tom

Are they around here *taking cover, ducking, suatting down, looking anxiously around* You can practice over at my place any day if you want, that word is definitly not gonna raise any eyebrows here but off course we also have rules about offensive speaking, unwritten though. I have another practice but it's hard to explain instead and more suited for a Scandinavian person. I keep in mind and if i come with any other good one I post it for you. Tom

Hey Darryl and weclome Nice stuff there! We love pics here! Blue lace seem strange when I imagine it but actually looks really good. Thanks for letting me in on that! http://www.leffler.com.au/ I think they're only but leather but may be worth checking out for you if you not have done so already! Tom

My first job as translator! Berserker is a Scandinavian word from the vikingage. From what I've learned it's true meaning has not really been established but historians/archaeologists believe that it means björnsärksbärare. I'll break it down for you: björn=bear, särk=shirt, bärare=bearer. I hope you can see now that those word are likely to be realated to each other. So many words from vikings coming to Englandia still live in the English. What a berserker really is, is even more fuzzy but some mean they're special warriors, that may have been pumped with drugs and sent into battles when needed. They wen't berzerk and if you have seen how many shots a drugaddict can take and still carry on, that's what they're believed to be and the name has been said by some is because they wore bearskins to look frightening. Självklart grabben! Off course dude! Tjipp tjipp, nu är'e Goliat! Unnecessery sentence but Tina will probably laugh, it's from Hajk;-) I'd like to add that much of the leatherwork we do here doesn't have Swedish terms and I don't communicate much with anyone in the know hows of leather here in Sweden so I usually think in English when working, all my sketches and plans ,drawings, patterns etc has English notes so the leatherworker glossary In Scandinaivan tongue is not so familiar to me but I'll help out any way I can. PM me or whatever... Mike! Try this one and say it fast, repeat it faster and faster: Sex laxar i en laxask.......I'd die to hear you try that one...... (oh, sex is Swedish for six) Tom

TomSwede replied to MADMAX22's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Perhaps investigate some photo forums and and browse their boards too see what they hav come up. They are most likely postigg lot's of pics of their projects;-) The Swedish board has had lot's about this but I suppose you don't read Swedish very fluid. Don't know if http://www.photo.net or http://www.dpreview.com Dpreview is probably more about tecnichal aspects and pixel peepers. And remember Here's a little something I gogled up with serchterm: http://www.google.se/search?hl=sv&sa=X...diy&spell=1 and top link: http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=213&pgno=0 Good luck! Ehum, my dad knew Eva when she grew up in Oppala wich is about 10 min drive from where I grew up. Good thing this thread came up, I have a couple of things to do for Adamant leather (member here) from Germany who makes some nice cue cases. I'd like to make a few, it's not that far off from the fishing rod tubes I've built, hard work but blasting fun too. Today I strive to learn quite a few disciplines and cue cases seem to be one good strategical product to have under the umbrella. Thank you very much for the info and good pointers I will definetly cut n past this thread to my special folder for things of extra value. Tom

Congrats to the publication, that is good recognition and PR! Very nice seat. Cool and unusual touch with the brass rings. I like it alot. Tom

I see what you mean by hiding the tooling job but anyway it does look very good and fits very god to the backrest. Tom

Thanks Shirley! too bad the copper is not nearly as good to work with as gold and silver. Any got any tip on how to blend good coppertone from gold or silver dye! Tom
-
Oh yeah, that'd be a lot better and more humane Tom

It's really beautiful and should provide stiff company for any other contributions to that contest ( I know you were the only one). Good carving! Celtic knots like this is challenging to your skill I think. At first it is ok but after a while it's sooo easy to drift of since it is so repetitive. For me it is like that, dunno bout others. Tom -
My recents works
TomSwede replied to Shorts's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Great looking stuff there Shorts, really professional. I read that you get the marbling fro mthe EcoFlo dyes. Good thing here, it is beautiful but can it be applied so that you get a clean brown tone without airbrushing? -
Yeah Calanneh I'm sure it is pleased, I hear that the shaft grows just a little bit everytime I do it (no no no, no free enterpretations of that phrase friends. It's just that, that this hammer of Thor was interrupted in the casting process when a mosquito sat down and bit one of the master dwarf smiths causing it to be shortshafted). Thanks Trastu! I appreciate it alot!! Thanks Beeza! Compared to yur stuff I don't really feel mine to be very detailed;-) (in regards to my pearshader comment) Thank you all! Tom
-
Way cool Beeze!! But hey wait a minute and pull the break... Have I not commented on this motif on a bikeseat before?? Only that it was sealed and antiqued on naked leather, prolly with rest of seat black or sumting??? This one IS way cooler with that great fire dyejob. I'd guess that it is airbrushed but not sure? I just admire the way you model your work with that pearshader. Tom

every time you post! I really set up to not be swept away before I clicked on the link but it was pointless, not even the sturdy whisky I just drank could help me from loosing my breath when I looked at the pic. How long have you worked with leathers? Tom
-
Heey! That is a really nice bracer! This type has so much FAT BRACER to it yet small in size compared to the ones used for carving. The decorative applique makes it stand out so much more. I like it alot! Tom

Hi and welcome the board! It'd be really nice to see more rifle scabbards around here and if you need any help don't be afraid to ask for it. People is very helpful here. I agree with Russ about the tools and a better closeup is needed to determine the outer rows. I tried to enlarge and enhance this one in Photoshop but it's just too compressed but one suggestion for the innerrow is Tandys/craftools c431 stamp. Just copy and paste the tool name in the search box to see what it looks like http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com can't directlink to Tandys pages. There is an array of stamps in similar fashion. Tom

I use brown packing tape as backing and I think it holds up ok and is less fuzz than dealing with cements and also easy available at nearest supermarket. Just an extra option for you to try if you fee like it (or out of cement). Tom
-
Thank you for filling this in. I actually thought about asking if you had more people involve but that got lost when I was drooling over the pics. Hey, now I notice that the pockets on the flamecase has a shape that flows with the design. That does it, I now hold the black one as fav. Do you manufacture and create by customers demand or do you manufacture and sell through re-tailers or what?? Pool que cases seem big in US, I don't think one could focus on doing just those in Sweden but shure would be nice if there were some interest here. It'd be a ton of fun to do. Tom

Congrats! I can't remember seeing that purse but it looks great! Tom -
Wow John! Your work is really really nice! Can't pick a fav but leaning towards flames but the red one before the last one is very nice too. Tom

Thank you so much brother! I'm very glad to hear that and now I will truly sleep well after the nightshift. I been sitting an hour or so doing designwork for next bracers. Skulls....if customer like it. Tom
