  1. Just got this set up finished. This machine will allow me to sew tongues into hockey skates (and that's harder than it might seem). Just wanted to show off my new toy!
  2. Thanks for that info Alexander, very interesting (and informative) stuff!
  3. I would want to confirm that it is indeed a Pfaff. From those pictures I'm not so sure.
  4. Using one almost every day I can concur the 438 is a wonderful machine.
  5. Another option is Tennessee Attachment Co. They have made several binders for me and every one is exactly what I needed. Customer service is first rate as well.
  6. As stated above, the choice of feet has a lot to do with what you are sewing.
  7. Ferg, Thanks for posting this! It was very timely. It's so good to know that when it's all said and done......that we know where we are going.
  8. After years of trouble free use, this is what greets me on the underside of anything I sew with my CB 4500. Using the same thread I always have (207 top and bottom). Top stitch is fine. Does not seem to matter what I sew the result is the same. Have checked and double checked the thread tension top and bottom and it seems right (did not change that either before this started). Did some research on this and have checked the items mentioned, still the same. I do notice when I go into reverse there seems to be a "clunk" sound and the upper thread appears to pull. Stumped, all helpful thoughts welcome.

  10. For what it's worth I have machines with both a speed reducer and needle positioner and have no difficulties. The motor is a Goldstar 550 watt. I have found the combination of the punching power afforded by the reducer, and the ability to stop with the needle in the down position was just what I need for most of the work I do.
  11. Completely off topic, but having spent a lot of happy hours in Morgantown, I love that part of WV. Was in Fairmont quite a few times as well, lovely country.
  12. As stated above, double check that the upper and lower thread tensions are correct. I've had similar issues in the past and found it was due to tension adjustments being out.
  13. Makes me wonder how this would work on my glove palming machine?
  14. I am talking hockey skates, and I need to be able to sew new/different tongues into the skate. The toe cap is very hard plastic, and the skate needs to fit into the machine so the entire width of the tongue can be sewn to the end of the toe cap.
  15. Uwe, When you get yours let me know and I will bring a pair of skates down and we will see if it can sew tongues in. If it can.....well I'll be in trouble.
  16. Never knew that was such a "day". Learn something new everyday (I guess ;-)
  17. So now you tell me.....after all those hours working and sweating over these misbehaving machines!!
  18. Yes, just the same as the one you have pictured.
  19. I have an ISM SV-71, and I think it's one of the better offerings out there. They are a little more $ up front, but they are far more controllable thru the interface. I've had several other types of servos over the years but this ISM is by far the best I have used (without going into the really big $$ motors). Mine has a needle positioner and it functions better than the Goldstar motors I'm running with positioners. I like the SV71 so well I plan on replacing all my motors with them over time. Hope this helps (I do not sell these motors or have any affiliation with ISM).
