  1. Check your needle for burrs, that will shred thread.
  2. LOL Love it!!
  3. I have to agree with Glenn. If given the choice between a Pfaff and an Adler I will take the Pfaff every time. I just find the Pfaff machines to be smoother in operation, but that's just my opinion.
  4. Tho not a help with identifying this machine's sub class.....I sure would like to get my hands on that beauty!!
  5. Having had both of the mentioned machines, I would vote for the 335. It's been my experience that between to two the 335 is a smoother machine. The capabilities between the two are very close. I also like the stitch length adjustment on the 335 much more than the one on the Adler. The set up on the 69 is kind of confusing and just plain strange for a machine of it's caliber. Just my two cents worth.
  6. Really like that stand (machine as well).
  7. It’s been my experience that old thread can most definatly cause issues. Tension, shredding at the needle (no burrs present on the needle) and pigtailing have all shown themselves. On a side note, cheap thread (mostly from the orient) can also create havoc.
  8. Amen to that!
  9. Me thinks a machine like that could fill some voids in my shop. Very interesting. Now I’ll start looking......that’s bad.
  10. $1300 is a pretty hefty price for that machine. I know I would be struggling with half that amount.
  11. I use TriFlow in my 335 machines (all my sewing machines for that matter)and have for years. I like the way it works and I have never really had an issue with it getting on the goods when sewing. I have used Lily white in the past, works great just prefer the TriFlow.
  12. Got mine from Bob in Toledo.
  13. My 4500 came with one. Never use it, took it off and put it on a shelf.
  14. Thanks Bob. That makes sense. The war changed the way a lot of things were made.
  15. I have always wondered why the manufacturer would use a crackle finish paint? Good looking job on this one, I admire your ability to tear’em completely down and make them like new.
  16. Hey Ferg, Where did you get the grey light that is closest to the business end of the machine? That looks quite interesting. Can never have too much light.
  17. No I use Pfaff 335 cylinder arm machines. If your interested there is a video showing the repalming process on my website: www.hockeymenders.com
  18. Guess this is all relevant if you are using a 441 type machine and sewing belts. I’m not using/ doing either.
  19. Sewing speed is dictated by what is being done. I see all this about “why would anyone want to slow things down?”. Around here everything is sewn at the slowest speed possible. Precision work requires it. Hockey glove palms can be quite tricky to get placed and sewn properly, and if the machine was zipping along it would be a complete disaster for sure. Just my 2 cents worth.
  20. Know all about the leaning back and screaming part........
  21. Uwe, Thanks for the tip regarding the U of M property sales. Didn’t know that was there. Will make a point to make a trip out there to see what’s available
