  1. You take a color xerox copy of a picture and use an art medium to transfer the picture on to the leather. The color picture stays but the paper rubs off and your picture is on the leather. It can be tooled. They are offering a class at Standing Bears Trading Post. here is a link to a picture. I think Johanna has another link some where for the 2-shews method. It is actually really cool. http://standingbears.livejournal.com/tag/leather+craft here is another link to more examples of it http://moutainmanleather.com/photo6.html
  2. Like it a lot! Have you ever tried the 2-shews method of transferring a picture and attaching it to a soft leather? I have been thinking about trying it, its on my list to try.
  3. Very cool!! always looking forward to your next one!

  6. Welcome to the forum. Where in California? Several of us here are in California. I am in Reseda.
  7. George Hurst, Hide Crafter Productions former owner of Hide Crafter is filling bankruptcy. Hide Crafter Leather Company is now owned by Hideco still doing business as Hide Crafter. George is still making videos and is being retained by the new owners for the videos and as a consultant. George will still be making appearances at Trade shows and teaching classes. Last I talked to Ron the new owners are still working on a lot of things, the web site, new catalog, new direction they want to take Hide Crafter's. Just be patient.
  8. I emailed them about a ticket. Would be cool to have one of Shirley seats. Looking forward to hearing back from them
  9. You will have to call them to get a price list. If you are a member of a guild make sure to mention that! Unless the new owners have changed things that will get you wholesale pricing vs retail. Anne
  10. I use Jeff Mosby's way and it has helped me. http://greyghostgraphics.com/wp-content/th...%20tutorial.pdf
  11. Great tutorial! Can't wait to try to make one from it. So now that makes 30 on the list of things to do.
  12. thanks, I did have a couple people tell me how they did theirs, always good to see how others do the same thing.
  13. Surprised no one tried making them in leather yet and posted a picture. I have not done any flowers yet but those shouldn't be that hard to do other than matching the color. May have to add them to the bottom of my list of things to do.
  14. I love living in CA! :D Doing more leatherwork here than I did in TX. Have about 25 things on a list to do now. Trying to get something made for every fair we can enter. Just finished a pair of Chaps that I will be sending to the Spring show. I will post a picture of them soon. I have two projects that I am working on now. One for the San Bernardino county fair and the other is for the IFoLG show this fall. I am very fortunate that Standing Bears Trading Post is right down the street from me. Wayne Christensen is a Fabulous instructor! Not only is he always there to help when I have a question, he has a way of encouraging me and a subtle way of pushing me into trying, no I mean, doing things I thought were beyond my abilities. Partly why there is so many things on my list to do now. Thanks Wayne! The Wednesday night class I attend there is great fun and a great bunch of people too. I do miss the customers and people I worked with in TX, please tell them I said Hello next time you are in HC. Anne
  15. I think that when I was still at Hide Crafter we sold more of the plastic stirrup's for lamps, they carry the lamp parts to at a reasonable price too. Just have to come up with you own base. George did a video on making the stirrup lamps.
  16. Robert Beard makes them also. 505-632-7039 www.robertbeardtools.com
  17. I have always heard of using a hairdryer to dry it out some.
  18. Hide Crafter carries the turntable to set your marble on. I have used the one I got from Hide Crafter's for 7 years now. Pretty sturdy.
  19. Thank you so very much I will be up late tonight trying to get these done and the fringe cut. People on this list are so great!!!
