angelus dyes

I can not compair... I have never used Fiebungs. Black Angelus is very easy to get even but the others, well I use them on damp leather that seams to work much better. If I start using these on bigger pieces i would get myself an airgun. My reason for the Angelus dyes is the vivid and clear colors they have, perfect for my type of projects:-) -
Hi again:-) I tried to do some explaining on the picture... On the edges (I did my example in a redish color): Use the modling tool. I think you have used the camo tool in a straight angle type example 1, make the camo inprint like the example 2 in an angle, it makes it looks really good. My 2 cents

I often get the question, "How do you make the swirly text?" well...I made this little tutorial and I hope it's going to help someone, this way you can go as crazy as you like:-) 1. I make a text in a Desktop Publishing Program (but it can be made in a number of different programs) I make sure that when I print it out it will be in a size of my choise, I also make it greyish, this makes it easier in step two. 2. Using a pencil, now the fun part starts, I go as crazy (or not) as I want to, trying out different layouts. When I think it is fine I use a 'ultra fine' Sharpie pen, done:-) 3. Here I just filled in the parts (and tock away the few parts I did not want) so that you can see the finished text.

Hi Tom, I'm missing the modeling, maybe you do that later on?

Thank you, your comments put a smile on my face and you're right:-)

Hi and welcome to the forum:-) I have observed that there is 2 ways of cutting a snake up to make a skin... Most seams to get cut along the belly, the big scales you're talking about which means that the colored top part of the snakes skinn is gooing to be little disturbed as possible. Then some cut the snake along the spinal cord on the top back, now you get the part on the belly undisturbed and I think this is what you want. The only snake/s I have seen cut like this is the cobra and the grass snakes from Asia. I have seen some sellers on Ebay from the Phillipines tha have snake/lizzard skinns...They might be able to get you the type you want?

*LOL* You really crack me up...Maybe I should post a huge boo-boo I have in my pile over here, I just happend to tip the dark green dye ontop of it I know manny frogs (the tooling theme) is green but this one is rediculios Ahh, I will post it up with the finished product, when it's made. Thanks for the reassuring words, and I'm trying to "just move on" Thanks:-) Lettering...What I do is using the fonts you can find all over the Internet then I place them where I want them (I have a desktop publishing program which makes this super easy). Then I start drawing curbs and bends, altering lines with a pen until I'm happy with the resault. I hope this helps a wee bit:-) *LOL* And great Thanks for your comments, I take the "inspiring" as the best compliment one can ever get:-)

Thank You guys'n'girls, Your words keeps me going:-)

Wow, Thank You All :-) I think something many artist is struggling with is being "your worst enemy/critics" (but trust me, I can see the boo-boo's *LOL*)

Absolutly interesting...The molding idea in a purse opends up a whole new dimension... Like it loads:-)
-
Great Thanks Ken :-) I'm soo happy even the boo-boo's work *LOL* Hi Doug. I'm using Angelus spirit dyes (and load of reducers to get manny more shades) Then I use neatfoot oil and let it be for at least 24 hours. Now I have Angelus acryllic finish (comes in matte, satin, gloss or high gloss) and again let it be for another 24 hours. Ontop this one I have the old Tandy medium brown antique, I'm using the few drops left, wish I could get some more and last a top coat of finish again to secure the antiquing. I hope this helps but I have seen other methods used as well, I guess we all get our "little thing" going after a while *LOL*
-
*LOL*...The dyes are very pigment strong, the med. brown is rather dark, just a small tip:-)

Hi, I think the deer might be AS? I found it on a doodle page and it fitted well, brother inlaw loves to hunt deer, (I think mother nature should do the deed so this is my way of saying so *LOL*) I'm making these covers for the male part of the family (girls gets purses) I have to leave some meories when moving back over seas to people here that I love Thanks Ed, well boo boo being not to seal the leather correctly before applying antique on the fall picture, it's very obvious on the field mouse and the background behind him IRL...And I like the idea that's no one is perfect, makes everything much more "humain"

Just a cover to a dayplanner for my brother inlaw, There's a few boo boo's but I'll be (curse word here...) if I redo the thingie, he just have to eat it

I had a little package showing up today...And I've been busy ever since:-) "Bearman" here on LW made me a maul, 9oz in weight, with Mahogany, curly Maple and curly Walnut (if I got it right). The tool is an absolute beaty both to look at and to use and 9oz fits most of my type of carving like a glove in my hand. Ontop he made a stand to it. All I can do Bearman... And a Huge Thank You for the nicest maul/mallet I have seen. This tool will go on my trofe shelf (and yes, it will be used every day) For some reason it's always more fun using beautiful and practical tools

Hi Kate, if you ever come across the knife at a show or anywhere, take the time to try them out...It's a blast. I was surpriced myself how much a good knife actually could help out. As you can see I have the narrow barrel which for me is perfect, it really helps on those tricky bends and such. Another thing I have discovered is that I almost never ever get the cramps in my hand as I do with heavier/bulkier knifes. To me this is the RR of swivel knifes, just my 2 cents:-)

Every now and again the ruby tips shows up on Ebay :-)
