I know this should go in the show off or similar section, but figured I'd toss it up here...These are just "in progress" pics. Someone warned me, and it WAS harder than I expected...can't quite pinpoint why: the wings? the straight parts of the knotwork? I don't know. But it's done and ready for the PURPLE dye the customer wants.

That color job is excellent!

If seeing Roy smile didn't make you smile, you had a hard heart, that's for sure. Clint Black (country singer) often reminds me of him.

I tried KK's, it was still too big when printing, but Hilly pm'd me one that worked perfectly (didn't get to trying yours Johanna...). Thank you all for the help! I'm going to talk to Tim about downloading Irfanview, 'cuz I'm sick of this since I have to modify so many patterns for size.

Since we got a new scanner, I lost my photo editing software that came with the old one. I've thus lost the ability to shrink/fit pictures as well as I could before. I need this picture to fit on a 9 x 4-1/2" space. Would someone please help me out by sizing it appropriately and sending it back to me by pm or email? I can only get it in 4x6 or 5x7 size, and neither are quite right...I tried re-drawing it by hand, but that's tedious as I have to do the elements separately and I confess to being computer spoiled...

I'm LOL at Johanna, 'cuz I was ecstatic over 2.39 myself! Isn't that pathetic? I can easily remember it being less than 1.00/gallon. But I'm happy that at least it's not in the 3.50 range it was just a month ago. BTW, I'm in Virginia, but I was just in Pennsylvania this weekend - and on the eastern side of the state, it's at 2.65 or so. I passed down through Delaware on my way back home, to visit friends there, and the prices in DE were similar to here in VA. Gas prices have never made sense to me...

The only thing I'd suggest on this particular design is to move the top closer to the back. It seems a bit too close to the bottom for my taste.

I actually belong to a TV and Movie Westerns yahoogroup list, and you all are sounding like a lot of those members...that was great tv though...I'm 40 myself, but Dad used to always watch those types of shows. In fact, when Breyers models came out with Trigger, and a video to go with it, I bought it for him. We loved Roy Rogers. There are some good newer movies though - Tombstone comes to mind right off.

Thanks for the comeback....glad to know there's someone else out there that keeps stains forever LOL! That's a different product though.

I'm probably going to simplify it a little to fit in the space better. I did that to a Celtic cross pattern Tandy had out a while ago.

Thanks for the reply...I was starting to think no one was even going to chime in on it. I'm going to try some of what I've gotten (the new eco-flo paste and a liquid in the same line), I was just hoping to find some of the old stuff. It was more a product love for me than just the color itself.

If you go to the Tandy Leather Factory website, there is a free Jim Linnell pattern section, and he's got some great Christmas-y things up there.

Another Christmas Present done!

I really love the tabs on the spine to keep it in place. That was really smart! The colors on the outside are also beautiful. I'm sure she'll treasure it. -
I have a folio that is about 10 yrs old that I'd covered with Tandy's mahogany antique (liquid). I still have tan, saddle tan, and some others on my shelf, which I bought when they were closing that line of stains, but I'm out of mahogany. I have a customer for whom I'm making 4 binders, and she really loves that mahogany. I'm going to try the eco-flo paste, on a sample, but I'd really love to have some of the original antique LIQUID. Anyone have some they'd like to sell me?

Waterproofing test: This time a bit more scientific
wildrose replied to esantoro's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Thank you. I use Aussie Wax on almost everything. I've been applying it on mystery braids I've been selling, and my coworkers, who've worn them around the coffee shop, have experienced some dye/stain bleeding. Of course, some of them were dunking their hands in the dishwater... -
It's amazing how $1.25 spent correctly works
wildrose replied to Mattmatt's topic in Collars, Cuffs, Leashes and Leads
Matt, I know exactly what you mean about trying too hard. I look back, in particular, at a folio I made over 10 years ago, which I still get compliments on. I know I've learned alot, and done alot since then, yet when I look at it I think: Wow! That really came out well, when I didn't know half of what I was doing! -
Thanks! The other projects I have coming up are not quite as tough...but then I was asked for this on a passport wallet:

Isn't it wonderful to find everything in stock? I thought I was that lucky with my last Tandy order, and I was short 2 buckles...had to harass the manager (whom I know personally) about not putting in a back order slip! At least it was not something I needed urgently.

Thanks...found what I needed

Stewarts Root Beer...ahh another reason I miss NJ. That is the only root beer I like. You can also get it at some of the Cracker Barrel restaurants. But the best place was straight at the local Stewart Drive In. There are still a few operational in NJ. We had one in Whitehouse Station, near where I was living. They had good burgers and hot dogs too.

Good job! I like your use of geometric stamping. It's a really neat pattern!

I have to pipe in on the pop issue. I am from New Jersey - haven't lived there in several years, but you'd not know that to hear me. A non-alcoholic, carbonated beverage is a soda. An ice cream soda is another entity. Pop is what you do to someone when you are annoyed with them (i.e. "I'm gonna pop you!") I went to college at Grove City, near Pittsburgh, PA, and out there soda is called pop. I went 4 years without ever calling it that. I brought my husband (from Ohio) back with me to NJ and informed him he'd better start calling it soda - LOL! (and he did) My sister went to college in South Carolina (Furman) and said everyone called it Coke - whether it was or not. I still say soda. Here in Virginia, near several colleges, it's what I hear the most too. I think it's what the locals say too. And if you really want a good food experience, you have to go to a diner in New Jersey!

Where can I find the metal insert/ring part of a 3 ring binder? I need to make 4 of them for a customer, the 2" wide variety.

Thanks! I'm LOL at the "minions" comment...

I've been drooling over the art in The Great Book of Celtic Patterns and brought it to work to share around. Several of my coworkers have been ordering small projects from me, and one fell in love with this pattern. Trouble (for me!) was that she wanted it on a 2" wide wristband. I'm not used to doing that intricate, that small. But I gave it a go and was fairly pleased with the outcome. I know I could've done better in a larger format (like if it were bracers for a Ren.Faire) Still, I think she'll be pleased. Her plan is to get her mom's initials tattooed on her wrist (mom is battling cancer), but her other jobs won't allow tattoos to show. So this will cover it. I'm doing another with a Celtic dragon. I figured I'd get the tough one out of the way first! Showing the pattern first (yeah, I know it's sideways), then the band unstained, then done with all-in-one mahogany. The band will also feature buckle straps in place of snaps.
