  1. You think 1 mm for 4mm chisels, Matt?
  2. Right now I'm saving up for a knipknife. But I will get a set soon enough.
  3. I did a review on the palmgren .5 ton press here the other day. The machined hole in the ram already fits Tandy dies. You just have to figure out a base plate, which could be made from wood.
  4. I would like to see some pictures of the back of that style. If you don't mind.
  5. I really really like the 938 one.
  6. Barry King is one.
  7. It's nice to see people getting taken care of by a business.
  8. You're doing fine. When you can pick up some sand paper and a wing divider. The sandpaper will even up your edges and then you can run your wing divider down a straight edge. This will help you straighten out your stitches a little more. Just remember to take your time. Get intimate with the edges and stitching. I will pull out a magnifier if I need to. It will make all the difference. Keep up the good work and keep having fun.
  9. Welcome to the forum. I can't answer all your machine questions, but here goes...... Lots of these guys have more than one machine. I believe there are zipper threads pinned in the how do I do that section. Leather, like fabric, is trial and error. You will make mistakes, just no way around that. The only suggestion I have for that is to make a practice jacket first out of fabric. We all have our experience hiding in a drawer or box somewhere. I have more experience pieces then I have finished products. Ha, thank goodness I'm just a hobby guy.
  10. Shoot. Those are awesome. I hate flip flops but I would wear those. I don't think you'll have any problems.
  11. I'm a lefty. I'll always make my 10 % product for my fellow southpaws.
  12. Well markets can be subjective when you get to local level. If some one can lay hands on one at a show with out weighing everything on the internet, then the impulse buy van kick in. My brother is a great strategist when it comes to guns and car parts. He knows his market really well. He's like one of those guys that really know horse racing. He talks to everyone, listens, watches, what goes on at other booths. He's tied into that stuff. Heck he should own a pawn shop or something.
  13. Yeah, he mentioned the 938 and the 19 as well. And any 1911.
  14. Okey dokey. It just dawned on me the other day that my brother works every gun show in the dfw area. He offered to throw some holsters out for me if I made some. So, now I need some blue guns. He said that was a popular one no had been making stuff for.
  15. Congratulations. That is quite an accomplishment.
  16. I saw a nice review on the wuta picking irons. I would buy them. I have had good dealings with them on their templates. It does take awhile to ship from China, but they are up front about that.
  17. Is the flock 43 the small single stack? If so I'll buy it. If we're talking molding "blue guns"?
  18. Chief, I would like to see pics of the finished product if you don't mind. My first project had a pebble driveway board involved. I had forgotten about that. It looked pretty cool.
  19. If people are buying just keep on making them. They look good.
  20. Mr. Parks, your work looks amazing. Such a flawless look. I can't imagine how many hours you must put into each piece. Just beautiful, sir.
  21. Someday when I buy a machine I'll be contacting you guys.
  22. Yeah I have seen some things here I didn't even know was a thing. Like leather bottles, mugs, even tampon holders. Who would have thought? I have only been at this off and on for two years. But my work, my wife the art teacher, and my 4 year old all keep me away from the bench. I have made mostly one off items. Jumping around was keeping me from progressing on the basics. Someone recently pointed out (in an off topic thread no less) to make one thing over and over till you get really good at it. Now I'm trying to do just that. I'm making bracelets and a few dog collars in the attempt to progress up to a few belts I need. I bounced from a few knife sheaths to a tote for my wife, a few card holders and a wallet. Now that I'm just working on bracelets I can even branch out with doing a few at a time. I have plenty of straps cut and dyed different colors and I have 5 more buckles ready to go. Now if I can just find some time.....
  23. Everyone here is great. I have learned more from these experts then I can remember. Make sure and look into any thread that maybe of the smallest interest to you. There are just loads of tips hidden in random comments. It's like playing Zelda. Just bump into everything you can find and see where it goes. Read read and read some more. Check out the pinned threads and read through them page by page. Good luck and keep having fun.
  24. Are you sanding the edges? If not the fluff will always return. I sand mine quite a bit, then lightly singe the fluff with a lighter. Then burnish, and repeat as necessary till it all lays down. If you are talking about bag straps, I understand it's near impossible to get the fluff to stay gone. All the stretching and pulling makes it hard to have a lasting smooth edge. Take all of this with a grain of salt for I still consider myself a novice.
