  1. Since we are opening up the can of worms...... What about a belt with no tooling out of Hermann Oak or W&C. Decent buckle with stitching? Just kind of curious.
  2. Some of it is preference. Some of it is necessity. With veg tanned leather you could do any of the three techniques you mention. If the leather is really thin people usually fold it. If it is chrome tanned it is hard to get a good burnish so people will use edge dressing or edge paint. Hope this helps, I haven't used all these methods myself. The two wallets I've made were both from chrome tanned with burnished edges. One came out good, the other (first) one, not so good.
  3. I wouldn't do it. Whatever that holster is for, it looks beat to death and worn out. Offer to make him a better one out of leather, or he can purchase a new one like mentioned above. Just me thinking out loud.
  4. I don't have much experience, but you might extend drying time. Then buff like crazy, and add more coats of resolene with plenty of drying times between coats. I think that will do it. Welcome and nice looking projects.
  5. I use photo resizer from the play store. It works pretty good.
  6. Great job. I like the sunburst the best.
  7. It looks great, but I think it would make people come up and ask about it. Great job.
  8. That's so pretty I hate to see the holes poked in it.
  9. EMT, yes. Stupid spell correct Dr.....correcter
  10. Congratulations!
  11. Yep, he's busy. He had to raise his prices in January. I contacted him in December and he said at least 6 weeks.
  12. I was watching Bill Cheney sharpen his on youtube. It had a flexible blade. He just ran it backwards a few times on various stones and stropped it. Looked simple enough. I don't imagine the knipknife is going to be that flexible though?
  13. Nice.
  14. With that much talent you should be in Hollywood. Ha!
  15. I could easily commit to two at a time. But which first two? Ahhh the plot thickens......
  16. I apologize for my ignorance.
  17. So, are you going to be a distributor for rings? Or are you talking a one time buy in? I did see where you said it would be after you move, but I'm a little confused on the details here. Please enlighten me.
  18. The Tandy press dies measure 3/8". The double ball detent on the 3d Tandy press dies measure 7/16". The hole on the .5 ton palmgren press is measuring 13/32". So, the press will work. But for faster production I will need a set screw for the standard dies. It holds the 3d dies just fine. And for what it's worth, the little magnet that is set in the ram hole is set too deep. It won't even hold the dies the press came with. But, I'm happy enough.
  19. Ok, the 3d stamp dies have a ball detent in them that hold them nice and secure. The line 20 dies do not have a decent and the hole is slightly larger then the dies. So, a set screw may be needed. While posting I just remembered I have a caliper. I will post sizes in a few minutes.
  20. I would spend that 1500 bucks on tools and leather. Think of the pride you would have riding around in a saddle you made for yourself. There are some really great books on the subject. And these master saddle builders are on this site regularly to help you with an answer when you get stumped. That's what I would do, if I needed a saddle.
  21. I haven't worked with it at all.
  22. Nope. It is Hermann Oak, Fiebings spirit dye, water 50/50, and then a light coat of neatsfoot oil.
  23. I was thinking it was too dark. Here is a picture of 50/50 after I oiled it. It's a little darker than I wanted it. I haven't heard of that technique. Sorry I was just trying to help.
