How To Make This Kind Of Valet Leather Tray?

its hard to tell from the pic but i think its one piece of leather. It may have been formed in a press but that result can easily be achieved by hand and then just going around the inside with a creasing tool. If its two pieces of leather and i was going to make this then I might join the two pieces together (rough to rough) and then cut the shape i wanted -

I would say that the leather shape is cut and then maybe wet formed. Similar to a leaf bowl with out the leaf pattern tooled into it -
