  1. Looking good, what brand of L6 did you get?
  2. Yeah bastards sell all your info right away. It also becomes public record at the court house when you buy land/house which is what this website is built off of http://www.familytreenow.com/ I recommend opting out your info from it In order to safeguard your information and have it removed from the Family Tree Now website follow the following steps: - Type http://www.familytreenow.com/optout into your search engine - Read the step by step instructions listed and click the square marked "I'm not a robot." - Once a green check mark appears next to "I'm not a robot" click on the Begin Opt Out Procedure. - The page will redirect you to a search page. Enter your name and click search. (You may have to try variations of your full name.) - The website will provide a results page of possible matches for your name. Find your information by clicking on the record details. - Once you find and verify it is your record and not someone else with your surname click on the "Opt Out" button on the page. The page will be refreshed with a message that reads "Your opt out request is being processed. Please allow up to 48 hours for your record to be removed." All of this doesnt matter anyhow, no company gives two ****s about your info generally speaking unless they can get money from disseminating it. Think that cool new law got passed as well allowing all the online companies to do whatever they want with your info including openly tracking all your moves without any form of recourse. Great stuff, gotta love technology or should I say business/technology
  3. It's on the Seattle Craigslist just search sewing machine if anyone wants to contact em. Has a 111w152 for sale also. A Landis 13 chainstitch popped up on there too.
  4. I would pick it up but not at $450 asking price Would make a nice pull out drawer machine haha.
  5. Sucks the days of getting a motor rewound for a decent price are gone. This damn throw away society and cheap crap.
  6. Saw this 31SV52 on CL. Not gonna pick it up but figured I would post the photos here. Kind of interesting, it has a reverse button apparently. Wish he had taken better pics. Said it was a Army version, whole setup is semi portable.
  7. Or that, only issue is Im a bigger guy and my left leg sticks over where the drop leaf would normally hang on that style.
  8. I did that for my 111w table since I am not making sails and stuff, it works pretty darn good. One thing I will do in the future is the same thing but put a removable extension piece so when I dont want an extra 2 feet I put it away on a shelf.
  9. When your making twice what you paid (if not more) then you can afford a couple of small time orders being screwed up.
  10. Preheat and use the correct rod for welding. Its not overly specialized just requires some pre planning. In all honesty that's such a small area I am not sure pre heating would be that necessary. Probably only have to remove that one bracket/rod and cover everything else. I think the harder part would be reworking the threads and or ensuring the line up and tightness of the cracked portion thru the threads. Personally I would ground that broken foot down flat (will loose the foot support) then drill and tap two holes on the top and one on the bottom then screw the broken piece on, use some locktite and leave it be.
  11. Almost forgot what size thread will these guys handle, presume 92 maybe 138?
  12. Thanks everyone. Alot more info then I had found so far. I'll post some pics that he sent me. Bob I gave him your email address so hopefully if he needs anything he can give you a message.
  13. I am planning on building a similar small table as my 441 for my 153w so I can get it in operation. Ill make it a little more stable then the 441 table though. There are two types of 441 tables I have scene, the one with the square post that bolts directly to the base and the one that has the welded angle base attachment. The direct bolt on one is a little rocky IMHO and if you got a wheel stuck or weren't careful Im pretty sure it could tip over when moving it.
  14. Ok so trying to help out a friend who wanted to do a couple of his own motorcycle seats (regular upholstery style). He needed a sewing machine and I gave some recommendations from what was available on CL. Anyhow he ended up with a Singer 44-90. So trying to help him out now with manuals and any info that relates to this machine, I did find the parts list and a short 9 page manual online. If anyone has anything more in depth I would appreciate it. Also what is the capacity/abilities of this machine, I see on the big list it is for stitching gloves. Thanks everyone.
  15. L6 good steel, pain in the butt to forge. Ill get a couple photos tonight probably of what I currently have.
  16. May wanna add which Buck knife you want the pattern for.
  17. Just to add I have found that sometimes the bobbin needs tightening a tad then the top a tad but that depends on how compressed the spring in the top tension is. Another thing is check the spool of thread to make sure it is coming off the spool smoothly. What size thread and how thick of leather are you sewing? Sometimes thinner leather and thicker thread is hard to get it balanced.
  18. Thats cool your nephew does videos, how old? Itll be nice when my daughter is old enough to make stuff (she is 3.5 yrs now). Right now she knows how to turn on the sewing machines and press the go pedal, dye stuff at random, and put leather conditioner on. Just enough to be dangerous.
  19. New machine prices are pretty well fixed (price fixed) at a certain level between the suppliers so deal with whos closest or who you like the best. Used prices are all over the place since people think there 40 year old wore out walking foot is worth $200 less then a new setup however deals can be found. It may take a while but you can find fair deals on used machines (not super cheap but fair). For your wifes stuff depending on if she wants a cylinder arm is looking at the typical walking foot 111w clone basically (111w,211g,206rb, 562/563, 145/545 or cylinder arm variants 153w, 227, ....) while you are looking at probably a 441 clone or similar. 441s pop up on the forums pretty often and various other places. If I was in your shoes and had the money obviously it would be a 441 and a 206rb5 but I understand money dont grow on trees so make sacrifices where necessary. Wanted to add I left out a bunch of machines (cant list them all) and alot of the classics. You could use many other machines for these process's those are just the ones that came to mind.
  20. MSpaint works, thing I like about irfanview besides that it is free, is that you can save the save as profile by size of file or pixel width/height so if your forum limits you to pics of say 500kb you can save all of them with a max size of 500kb regardless of original size file. The photo editing options are nice if you know how to use them, I sometimes use the auto features for both sharpening and image colors but not always.
  21. Ive had iranview for several years now and it seems to work pretty good. Has alot of options available. You can set your save as size and type (jpeg for example) so when you save the edited photo automatically gets reduced in size say for forums and what not.
  22. Darn thats a good deal, I always wish the liquidation site had some near my area but all the sewing machines seem to be on the east coast. Scene some cool stuff pop up from time to time on there.
  23. If you do tooling alot youll probably just buy more swivel knives so you dont have to change blades just pick up another knife. I like the wider blades as well like the 3/8 straight, I have a 1/4 straight blade that is great for doing deep wide cuts but its not a standard blade like most ya see, it opens up pretty quickly. Not good per say for really detailed work.
  24. Nice find on that one. Machine looks in good shape considering it belonged to the Navy. Wonder what they use to make with it?
  25. Rock thanks, I would have made it less tall but really dont have the time for much of anything lately. The center toe foot I wanted to open up the front so I could see where the needle hits, unfortunately a common theme is off center holes which was the same with the toe. By the time I got the front cut off and everything smoothed out it was farther back then what I wanted. It works fine though, just as good as before from what I can tell. Its a little harder to pull the thread back when starting a stitch without more of a fork sticking out front. I can see exactly where the needle is going to hit though which was the original goal.
