Skunked
sodapop replied to rgerbitz's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
i'm just guessing here...but maybe give it a bath/soak in white vinager??...then run it through a baking soda water mix...thats what i would try myself...if its a black collar...i'd soak it in the vinagroon...making sure it penetrated all the way...dunno...skunk is bad...and the funk prolly soaked in damn good...so whatever ya do its gonna have to penetrate the leather well... darryl -

sodapop replied to Shorts's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
they can be a little tricky to find...theres weaver like art said but i think its a 1000 qty minimum...then you can also get them at springfield leather...in 100 qty a pack or larger quantities of course... darryl -

why you especially got flack over the elephant...is due for the fact that they are highly intelligent and very social/bonding creatures among other attributes they do have...much like our own in many ways...they aren't on the same intellect & social levels...as reptiles, birds and fish etc...very similar human qualities and traits is the main reason...cuz its true if you have done your research on them... in a sense it would be like using chimpanzee or gorilla...elephants are not any different really... personally...nope i wouldn't use elephant ever...for the reasons in the above points i made...believe them or not...even if the elephants were farmed...it is a moral thing for me...and i'm far from a PETArd ;0) but other animals that are farmed...yes indeed i'll use them =0) darryl

heres my experience so far...if your juice is pretty concentrated/potent...don't need to "soak" persay...just a quick dip...unless its something you want it to penetrate all the way through... also it seems to me the vinagroon doesn't have the same swelling effect on leather that water does...i haven't had an issue with loosing detail like that...i also don't do the rinse others do afterwards either....i personally dip, let dry...oil and aussie...vinagroon also seems to stiffen the leather a bit... other ideas is shelly...is you can paint on the vinagroon, and cuz its a chemical reaction vs dye...its blends with itself perfectly...no spotting/streaking and such like dye may...so hypathertically speaking...should beable to spray it on as well...even with a squirt bottle... darryl
-
you can just add to it...until its gets too diluted of course...use a test piece when in doubt and you'll know in seconds after ya dip it...or when you know you'd added x amount fresh vinager...just put the iron back in for a few days...like i mentioned, filter it every so often...cuz their will be iron crud that settles if ya don't...or some weird foam crap on the top in the beginning...but that will subside in time along with the funky smell... even though my juice was effective in a couple of days...i didn't take the spikes out for a good 2 weeks or so...not until it was like a real dark tea...then removed them... you'll get a feel for it once you've monkey'd with it a bit...no rocket science with vinagroon... darryl
