  7. brad i'm no expert with the vinagroon...but i filter my batch every so often with a t-shirt so its clean of particals and such for the most part...but i tool and assemble...then dunk...i don't rinse after...virtually no smell with my old batch...i just let dry and oil (help with richer darkening) and aussie...my batch is pretty potent i did in the spring and its a fairly quick dunk...if ya seen that last sheath i did...with the sheridan U and border stamp...i didn't have any issues with it messing up my tooling...not even the little subtle ridges on the mule stamp i used to lightly accent part of the lower U with... i think ya may want to always dip after...it also seems to me...that the vinagoon also stiffens up the leather as well... also remember you can paint on the vinagroon if it applies to what your doin... darryl

    Doomcycle!

i know on a crusier bike like that...you shouldn't need to worry about slippin a petal...those spikes on the upper frame towards the neck...just make me cringe at the thought of impaling my jewels (flash backs from the days of bmx'n & one bad malfunction i had mtn bikin) lol other than that the creativeness aspect is cool darryl
  10. holy rose petals batman...thats marvelous tina simply marvelous =0) if i ever due roses & color'em...i now have something to shoot for ...i may be high and to the right...but ya need to have a target none the less... darryl

    How to

in general bill...same slot holes on both ends(slits going towards the center of strap) and ya some thicker leather lace will do it for the neck, i used latigo boot type lace...cuz say example fender guitars if ya look at the pics have a the button to attach the top of the strap on the main body, so you would need the slot hole...but if its just for one specific accoustic or something then it could be a smaller hole on that end so the lace can go through... darryl

  15. i agree with art there...its got that cool classic flavor to it darryl
  16. i really am diggin this hat cal!!...i think i want to give this style a go...i could actually wear this in minnesota and it & I would look "normal" in winter...but i think i'd go ahead & line it with some rabbit fur cuz winters here are, extreme lol question how the heck to you figure out correct fit of someones skull and translate it to the leather??...what considerations or elements with diameter and cutting the pieces so the puzzle all fits together in the end?? darryl
  17. hey tommy!!...looks like ya went ahead & added another round of antique eh??...i like the darker tones that the final has...keep rockin on bro!! darryl
  18. also you can google to get a general idea of what type of gear this is...hog hunting "cut gear"...aka cut vests, cut collars...most are now made with of kevlar and such...lighter and cooler cuz heat stroke is a big factor in hog hunting with the dogs...don't see much made in that way using leather anymore...almost all the related gear is entirely kevlar now... darryl
  19. i appreciate the positive feedback from y'all!!...its no doubt encouraging thanks much crystal...ya its groovy thing to see someone so thrilled with the piece you made for them...especially for a newbie...plus it got me another order as well...slowly but surely...keep beatin on that flesh glad ya liked it john...he was really fascinated with the fit...i'm telling ya i don't know how many times he drew it and popped it back in...hes just never handled or knew about those aspects of a properly fitting sheath like that...he was like a little 250# kid with a new matchbox car or something hehe art...i'll be waiting to see it when ya get'r done thanks alot mike...and i appreciate the tip...all i knew is i didn't like the looks of it...so i eliminated it lol...but i think the one piece has its place as well done properly... tommy boy...dude i'm still shedding like a frickin lizard ...next time sunblock 5,000...i was more than "well done"...and as a matter of fact i am off fishin tomorrow WHOOHOO!!... tina... ...you making those wine holders again?? hehe...its much appreciated girlies!!...again its encouraging to get what i believe is an honest assessment of the end result ;0)darryl
  20. thats a super bee art!! ...at first i thought it was for the dodge then i read the georgia part hehe i think tom was buzzzzzzzzzzzed when he wrote that darryl
  21. i appreciate it dave & art!! to answer your question art...it won't when its molded like that proper and the welt fits correct...seriously, you can hold it upside down and shake it within reason...and it stays put...no slop at all...yet draws out nicely...when you put the knife in it "clicks" into place...also as dave(dcknives) pointed out to me that the liner inconjunction with the others things mentioned helps gives it that sweet fit... the customer never had one like that either...and when i actually demonstrated it for him ...he was even more pleased =0) darryl
  22. belows the original prototype i posted before, which was my first sheath built...and when posted that one awhile ago...i mentioned that i was going to do some design changes etc...besides the personalization the customer wanted...just construction wise... so heres the prototype again too compare... then heres the final design for the customer...the design changes were that i made the sheath wider and exaggerated the curves...so it had more flow on the welt edge and the top line...which gave me more room for the letter and border stamp...also so it had a more beefy look to it...i did away with the one piece belt loop design...it was an eye sore in my opinion seeing it fold over the top/back...so i made a seperate lined belt loop and stitched to the back...so you can't see it at all...which made the top lines cleaner overall...better access to the knife handle as well... the sheath is lined and the fit is spot on...the customer picked it up today...and was beyond thrilled with it...i could tell by a few ways he was really diggin it...as he kept drawing the knife out & putting it back in...rotating it around looking at it with a big grin on his face and just seemed to be in awe a bit with it... felt good as it was my first legit sale...besides that, all he said was he wanted his initial on it and black, so its a little sketchy if they are gonna be pleased with it...when thats all ya got to go on is the 2 above things...so i just had to come up with something/design etc that i "thought" he may like...and hope for the best...well from his reaction and comments, he was beyond pleased...WHEW!! hehe darryl
