  1. Contact one of our guild members who runs a saddle and boots shop. White's Leather Works 512-455-7371 Milano, Texas 76556 Speak with Naomi White and tell her that the Longhorn Trail Leather Guild President sent you. Last I spoke to her, she told me that she had a ordered a whole bunch of these rings (disclaimer: I think this was the size), but the project fell through. Anyways, she was wanting to sell them and was passing on the information to anyone I knew that needed these. See what you guys can conjur up? Please post back on this thread the results of your call to notify anyone else that reads this thread what happens. You never know, you may help someone else down the road! Best of luck!

    Buffalo?

I took a quick look at my resource list because I can remember a dealership I met at the Texas Saddle and Boot Show last year that dealt with Buffalo leather. I couldn't find the business card or information. I do remember creating a thread on here after the show with a list of dealerships as a reference for those that could not attend. You might want to conduct a forum search (top right hand corner) and see what you can come up. I would advise to check on eBay or maybe some of our advertisers. You never know; they may not sell it but they may direct you where you need to go for it. Best of luck
  3. Eric, first welcome to the forum and greetings from Central Texas! Secondly, I am sorry to hear about your infatuation for leather now that you found it. Just kiddings. Unfortunately, you are in a postion that of us (basically me) are not where we have the funding source to purchase whatever we need for this hobby, though rich or not, I believe most of us have spent a fortunate on this thing we call leathercrafting. I know that I have and the wife keep reminding me as tools and books trickle in. Here are some of my recommendations as an almost 4 year resident of leather crafting. I would look for resale books because most of the basic, intermediate and semi-advance books were written and published many years ago. That is not to say that there are not any newer resources that have been published, but they tend to be (in my opinion) more for the intermediate to advance crafter. This forum already had a "used for sale" section where I would recommend that you look for interesting resources in the field that you are looking to divulge into. The advantage is that you are able to contact the seller and get some detail and personal informaiton as to what the particular resource they are seller will or will not help you. Another plus for the "non-global rich" is that you will most likely get it for a lower cost than current pricing. I would also say the same things for tools and such. Once you determine what section of this craft you are willing to dive into, I would recommend looking into maybe seeking a course, training or short term intership with a master in that particular field. For instance, there is a master Sheridan Crafter I have been considering a short intership (one on one) with who is nationally recognized and published authority in this field. His cost is steep even for me, but he also is interested in what I am wanting to concentrate my efforts into while I am with him. His current fee is $175 a day, which for me is steep right now, but maybe the first part of next year, well, maybe! So, I guess what I am trying to say is take a look at books and dvds (hidecrafters in Fort Worth Texas) has a good number of videos for sale. Read up on your specific craft are and take it a step at a time before you move on to the next one. When all else fails, remember you have this forum to just ask questions and see what kind of responses you get and go from there. Either way, best of luck and Happy Carving!
  4. Awesome stamping bench, but I don't think that desk would take the weight of my head stone! Really nice setup!
  5. Send me a PM for an 18oz please. I will need a top to have it engraved as I did with my last BM maul. Thanks.
  6. That is interesting that Tandy would tell you that when they adverstise this very thing. I would see if any Maryland area forum members come up on here or refer you to the leather work manual on sale at the Tandy store. That is a good place to start reading to get an idea about leather work. Then I would suggest some other resources such as Standing Bear's site. WC has a lot of video uploaded on You Tube where she discusses techniques for different tools. He also is an authorized Tandy and Hide Crafter dealer. I am sure if you call him or Sandy, they would be more than happy to direct you to some other resources. Send me a PM with your email address and I will see what I can do to help you from afar! Happy Carving!
  7. That is pretty cool work you have there! Thanks for sharing!
  8. There were a couple of brand new Ron Edwards books for sale on eBay recently? I thought we also had a forum member here that carried his books?? Maybe she will come up and identify themselves. Good luck.
  9. Welcome to the forum and greetings from Central Texas! If you would have asked a few days ago, I just sold a member on here my used copy of how to make holsters! I would recommend taking a look at Tandy's Holster making or maybe calling Ron at Hidecrafters to see what they have available for such a project. We have a lot of forum members that make holsters for a living and I am sure they will chime in to direct you! Good luck
  10. What are you asking for it in the condition you have it? I may be interested? Send me a PM with a price if you would. Thanks.
  11. Those came out really nice though I don't know if I would put anything on them! Great job!
  12. Be proud! They came out really great! The colors are really good. I was actually looking at your sewing job...really nice!
  13. That is a awesome stamping pattern.....so many variations you can do with a border tool, a camo and meandering tool. Wow. I do have a request if you can do it. When you do come to conditioning, I am assuming when you start conditioning the taps that you will remove everything and lay it out. Can I ask you to make a pattern of this particular tap and mailing me a copy. I will pay for the copying and shipping? I would like to make one like this with the stamping pattern. It looks like a cool project. Good luck
  14. Victoria Thanks for asking. The reason I said "first" is because as my small stamping area is currently under renovation, I am finding more of my books. If I decide that they will go up for sale to make room for others, I will put it up for sale. Unfortunately, for you, I do not have that book anyways, but I am constantly being given stuff from my other guild members to sell. I visited one such member that has a bunch of beginners tools that he is looking to sell. I took the photographs and will be posting them up to our membership first and then on here soon after. He rather sell the entire lot as one purchase, but he is willing to split them up. There are too many photographs to post on here right now, so I will have to do it slowly. Send me a PM with your email address and I can certainly email you later or you can go to our guild website and sign up to receive our notices? Either way, thanks for inquiring and good luck. 20. Welcome to the forum and greetings from Central Texas!
  21. I like the way that worked out for you. I had been looking for a roll top desk but everyone wanted a fortune for them. I recently found a hutch the length of my current stamping table and it was FREE! So I picked it up and put a back and installed it today. Now, I have a board to intall my leather strips that will hold my handtools. I think I am going to go with the PVC tool holder idea that was posted up a few months ago on my hutch. It looks good! Happy Carving!
