  1. I was going through my drawers the other day and realized I had 8 Schrade Old Timers. One very large one I've had since the 80's and several others I've collected. I decided to give 2 of the trappers to my sons. I had to make a smaller pouch with a belt clip. I also wanted a pouch for my old Gerber. I used the holster plate on the class 3 and it came out pretty well. The smaller one is the same as what I did for the boys. It will fit many smaller knives.
  2. Very nice work!

    Hair clips

Coasters do well also. Nice work!
  4. I used my holster plate yesterday and found I needed to "tune up" the back a little to get the needle to line up in the center (cobra brand). I'm not sure a lower feed dog would help, but don't see how it could hurt either. Nice looking feet. Might have to look at that super 25 for smaller stuff. I've had my class 3 since April of 2020 and am just now getting comfortable. Slow learner I guess.
  5. Another vote for Goliger. I've been using them for a while now. You can't order online but the folks are nice. They do not buy tannery runs then grade them themselves. A lot of other suppliers do that and this is why you can get such a difference in quality. I'm also on the left coast so shipping isn't such a deal for me. Don't know what it will be to the other side....
  6. Very cool indeed.
  7. I have a class 3, wish I'd bought a 4, but happy none the less. The motor died a few months in, new one free of charge in a few days, running fine for approx 4 years now.
  8. Check out Road agent leather work on you tube. Shows the process pretty well. He's a member here as well.
  9. Superior thread is running a sale now.
  10. I use a knife, sandpaper, then water and saddle soap. I use the bar soap I get at a local farm and ranch store. If you don't have a wood slicker, try canvas or denim. The ieather you use matters as well. Chrome tan just won't slick up as good as veg tan. An inexpensive box knife can be stropped and cuts very well. I use a box knife for large cuts like belt straps out of 8/9 oz, a #5 xacto for smaller cuts, and a 60mm rotary cutter for lighter stuff. You will aquire things/tools as you go. I'm always on the look out at garage and estate sales for old leather working tools.. Good luck.
  11. Looks good. You could pay a little more attention to the edges.
  12. Well done!
  13. They are both sources of info. Caveat emptor...
  14. I don't think it will work. I have always dyed before tokanole.
  15. I believe I bought mine from RealLeather? Montana leather company has the kit for about $50.

    Golf ball holder

Yes, you can squeeze a ball out of the bottom. It originally was a straight slot, but that took a lot of pressure to pop a ball out. I took a large corner punch and opened it up to make it easier.

    Golf ball holder

The pattern calls for a snap. This, IMHO, limits where you can attach it. The strap allows you to go around the tubing of a push cart that carries your bag. You can still attach it to your bag if you want. It holds 4 balls. Thanks for the kind words. Also, opening the bottom allows the balls to come out much easier.
  18. I play golf, so when Don Gonzales came up with this pattern, I had to try it. I made a couple of changes, I used a strap instead of a clip to better go around a push cart frame, and opened up the bottom to make squeezing a ball out easier. Go easy on my tooling, still learning that part.

    Latest holster

Pretty cool! I need to do some cowboy stuff.
  20. I wrapped my table with 1x2s and router's the edges 1/8in. I left a 2 in overhang to clamp stuff (like a straight edge),, then finished w/ stain and varnish. All covered with a 36x60 cutting mat.
  21. You could always buy a pattern for the holster. It would help a lot to figure out your stitch lines etc. Adams leatherwork has a lot of good videos on holster making and how to do patterns. EDC has a lot of patterns as well as videos on how to design holsters.
  22. Welcome! Nice work!

    Greetings

Welcome! Look forward to seeing more of your work.
  24. I usually wet and hammer the stitch line. This closes the holes a bit, smooths the stitches, and removes a lot of the machine marks.
