  1. Just wondering if anyone out there would have a pattern for a Dog Harness, with & without a chest plate. I have never made one even though they look easy enough to make, I dont want to stuff up along the way as it is for a customer. This is the dog it will be going on. Cheers Damien
  2. We just got ourselves a English Mastiff x Aussie Kelpie. Would love to see a pic of your dog to give us an idea what size ours will be when he gets older.
  3. You have more patience than me lol. Good luck, will look really good when finished
  4. Yeah they have massive necks on them the Bull Terriers, They originally wanted a full 4" wide collar end to end with 2 x 2" buckles, but told them it would be too excessive and restrict the dogs head movements. Now for the wait till the customer receives it to see what it looks like on him.
  5. This is him, he is about 8months old, Hopefully I will have some pics sent to me when the customer receives the collar.
  6. Hi and Thanks, It was a joint effort, my chief designer is my partner and I am builder lol. I learnt a valuable lesson making this collar.... THOSE SPIKES ARE SHARP.... Here is a closer shot of the stitching. Probably my best stitching yet I think.
  7. Completed Custom 3" dog collar. 3" x 4.5mm Bridle Leather Body down to 2" buckle ends, Heavy Duty 2" x 5mm Stainless Steel D-Ring, 12mm Dog Spikes, 2" Double Tongue Buckle, Brass Riveted Name, Kangaroo Leather backing, Fully Hand Stitched. This is my first attempt at building anything like this. I think it came out alright, but will make a few changes if any others come my way.
  8. Yeah its hard to burnish or even run a edger on long Kangaroo being so thin. I love the grain of the Roo, it has a really clean look to it. I probably wont use bovine for the latch on top next time, or use a thinner piece instead of the 3mm I used, and burnish and dye the edge.
  9. I am a suffering asthmatic and unfortunately my asthma has been gone down hill over the last few years. So I decided to start training back in Martial Arts. I am still struggling with my asthma while training and decided to come up with a Prototype Turbuhaler Asthma Puffer Holder for the Turbo Inhalers (eg. Bricanyl which I use) to be able to be worn while training and most other sports or even when out and about in public. I made this is from scrap Kangaroo and a strip of bovine for the latch at the top. and can be attached to a lanyard or to a belt clip, school bag ect. Hoping to make a better one in the next few days, but thought I would show what I achieved last night (took about 15mins to make), ready for a trail run today at training. (Some of my rivets and cuts are dodgy I know (it was late (11:30pm) and I was I was tired, they wont be like this in the final product) Let me know what you think, or what I can improve on it. Or if you have made one show it off.
  10. Check this video out, Leodis Leather makes some awesome stuff and has great videos on youtube as well: https://youtu.be/4meaY6lWOMw Here is a great pattern I think I found on this forums patterns page for a very simple bifold. My partner has made two already using this pattern. This is one of the ones she made. The other is stitched only, I will try to find it and post it as well. 4-Slot Bifold Directions.pdf
  11. Thanks, yeah getting Roo over here is easy, especially when Packer Leather Tannery is only 10mins down the road from me. I think I will line it as it will hide all the backs of the rivets and give a cleaner look to the finished product.
  12. I can get a full CT Kangaroo skin for about $30AUD over here so not to bad in price. But glad to hear kangaroo will outlast the pig. Cheers Damien
  13. We have an order for a large dog collar with a double cap riveted name and dog collar spikes. Questions I have are: - Would I best line the collar on the back to cover the dog spike rivets and the back of the double caps? - If I do line the back, I am looking to probably use 0.8mm Kangaroo Leather or Pig Skin, Which would be better? - And..... Can I just glue it on? or does it need to be stitched as well? Thanks all. I have never had to line anything before. Cheers Damien
  14. That belt is perfect in my opinion. The edges are nicely burnished, Some people may have a whinge about stitching across the belt as they say it weakens the leather causing it to perforate after a while. But I don't see a problem with it. I glue as well as stitch, so they should come apart for many years I would hope. Congrats on some really nice pieces of craftsmanship.
  15. We have a kit over here. I know they sell over seas, and they post out the day the day the order is received usually. Here is the link: http://www.maclace.com.au/product.php?id=1087&list_page=1 If you want just the Keyring set itself this is the link: http://www.maclace.com.au/product.php?id=737&list_page=1 To order with them, just send them an email. They reply usually within a few hours. http://www.maclace.com.au/contact-us.php
  16. This is my third belt I made after getting back into leatherwork after making a belt and knife pouch 16yrs ago and never getting pics of them, and have unfirtualtey lost them over the years. Still wear this one as it is nice solid 10oz leather. Stitching is a terrible beige colour. I left the edges un-burnished as I like the way it looks.
  17. mark a point on top of the stamp and always have that mark facing the same way you are heading, that way it will usually stay straight.
  18. Can I get a copy of the pattern as well please? djs.leathercraft@gmail.com Thank you.
  19. The only time I ever borrow other peoples pictures is to put in my inspiration folder on my PC. But would never use them as my own work as I know I am not as good as, and probably will never be as good as a lot of people on here. Thats why I have an inspiration folder to dream of what I may be able to one achieve in this chosen hobby business.
  20. maybe more than two lol. not so much for me lately.
  21. I was thinking of doing something exactly like this last week as Aussies we love a good beer or two or three.......... They look good I love the caps different countries have, Ours are not the fanciest but should still come out ok
  22. Words can not explain how perfect and amazing your work is. The level of detail is outstanding. This is work I think I will put into my inspiration folder and dream of one day having work that looks or even slightly resembles this quality. Thanks for sharing
