  1. Most people just don't use it. Search posts on the USMC Black you might find something.
  2. How about a saddle cinch ring? You could wrap a piece of leather and baseball stitch it.
  3. Technique is more important than chisel I saw a video where Nigel Armitage stitched with drilled holes and got good looking stitching. (If I remember right it was a year and a half ago)
  4. Where are you located and where do you order from?
  5. I made one up. I know the note sizes but wallets are much bigger than than notes.lol I posted pics in another thread. Patterning is my weak point.
  6. Thanks for the help. Since this one was a proof of concept for me I will probably throw it up on the Etsy and see if it sells.lol I really like the blue stitch with the black leather. I might have to make some more stuff with that combo.lol My wife was a Bobby in Winchester. Ice been to southern England and the Lake District. Never made it to Ireland.
  7. Here is a link to another thread you might find some luck there. I know what you mean my SIL painted pumpkins pink and couldn't paint them fast enough. $10 each.lol
  8. Ya when I use it, it comes our pink. Can't get anything but pink out of it. I will see if I can find any pics of when I used it.
  9. I used oxblood and it turns out hot pink. If you thin red you should get baby pink
  10. Here is what I came up with. It seems huge to me. Wife lived in England for 13 yrs and says it looks right to her. As most men in England don't carry in back pocket because of pick pockets. 4 X 4.5 folded roughly. (10.2cm X 11.5cm)
  11. What is Super Cova? The only Cova I've heard about before is acrylic paint at Tandy. Also Edge Kote is from Tandy. Edge Flex from Tandy is Fenice edge paint from Italy and can be used with heat. Experiment on scrap and see what works and what doesn't. You don't want yo ruin your project.
  12. Yes edge flex is good. I have a $30 adjustable temp wood burner from Micheals. A soldering iron probably work but carefully cuz it's hotter than you need. Some just sand between coat and burnish with beeswax after your happy. Practice on scrap and see what works for you.
  13. Thanks. I've used one of his bag patterns before. Oddly for me the turned edge stuff I don't like. I just use veg tan and burnish.
  14. I've found over the years when taking something apart for the first time is to take LOTS of pictures as you go. Will call phones now days it's pretty easy to get a lot of quick pics. Nothing beats experience but take every advantage you can in my book.
  15. A wood burner is a decent Filituse for heating and smoothing an edge also. End Tandy Edge Flex is Fenice edge paint bottled for Tandy. It's pretty good stuff actually.
  16. I usually trace the original pattern on cardstock and add or subtract to try and get the size I'm after. Sometimes it works ok sometimes not.lol Not great with computers. But your measurements give me a head start so thanks a lot. Ta.
  17. Thanks. He travels a lot but doesn't use 50's. You wouldn't happen to have a pattern would you? I don't do well with drawing my own.lol I do a lot of "tweeking" other patterns I find. I do ok with simple stuff but idk if "upsizing" my standard wallet would work.
  18. I tried asking in the patterns section but will try here now. I have to make a billfold style wallet for a freind in England. I have a US sized billfold pattern that is 3.1" tall would making it 3.5" tall work with £ and Euro's? They are the same length I know as $. Any feedback would be appreciated. Even metric measurements would work.lol
  19. How about anyone from the UK. How tall is a standard UK billfold? The one I use in US is 3.1" tall. Would making it 3.5" work?
  20. Gum trag is goo on the back side. And it burnishes well. And dye won't penetrate gum trag from what I've found.
  21. He also has an Etsy page. If you are looking for ready made stuff.
