Hay Jeff, I have been to your site several times. The tutorial for holster pattern making is a huge help. I haven't built one I think is good enough to take a pic of but I'm gaining. THANK YOU !!! -
Nice clean look, both the tooling and lacing

I've been to many rendezvous and would bee happy to have that along!

hides can be a lil greasy but not too bad. Hope to see what you do with the rabbit.

Interesting, I've never heard of egg tanning, I'll have to give it a try. I've heard that woodchuck rawhide makes good banjo heads!
-
Cool, what kind of tan do you use?

Feeling frustrated (example shown, critique needed)
JD62 replied to Reindeer's topic in Figure Carving
The "rounding" of the antlers, neck and front legs looks good, and the matting helps a lot. I think if you just keep practicing you'll have it in no time! The muscle highlights I think just need to be shallower and not have the sharp line on one side. I look forward to seeing more of your work.- 19 replies

Just curious because the place I use to work, we used a penetrant that glowed like that under uv but if you haven't been around any metal testing labs that won't be it. I hope you get to the bottom of it soon.

I'm just wondering, what you do for a living, or where you've been visiting the last couple days before you spotted this? Could be something you picked up there?

How about a new thread to help all of us interested? Please?

My 1911 shoulder rig project...
JD62 replied to unmitigatedaudacity's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
George, I feel for ya bro ,I'm an L1 burst a year and a half out,and have been trying to figure a way to carry my "babies " in a chair for about a year. I don't carry anything that big but I agree that appendix and cross draw don't work so well. I cant reach my ankles with all that wonderful titanium in there so I guess on the shoulder is all that's left. Gona suck in the summer tho. -
Hmm wish I could find needles for that thread!

I would guess its the carnauba, we used to use it as a wood finish and once applied, with the heat from buffing it in got quite hard ( they use it under the oil on bowling allies ).

You have my interest up. I lined a holster with it once and liked it but haven't been able to find more.
