I love that idea.

I just saw this Craig's List ad. I have no affiliation with the seller and don't know or care if the price is fair or not ( I don't want this to turn into an argument about pricing) but thought it was an interesting enough piece to show you guys. I know I've never seen one. I do wish the pictures were better. https://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/atq/d/university-place-cobblers-bench-with/7432489946.html

Sturgeon Leather
rodneywt1180b replied to Shadileather's topic in Exotics, Reptiles, Furs and others
The skinning of the fish is probably beyond your control. It would be nice to see entire skins with the sturgeon's top row of scutes intact. A different species but close enough for an example.- 21 replies

Fly swatter
rodneywt1180b replied to Klara's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
I haven't started it. It's 104* right now with more of the same for tomorrow. My shop is climate controlled. The climate controls how hot or cold it is inside. Too hot already and summer is just starting. -
Fly swatter
rodneywt1180b replied to Klara's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
It's not the natives so much as the Californians that migrate up here. They pretty much ruin everything they touch and are the real locusts. The thing I don't get is if California is so great why didn't they stay there instead of bringing everything that's wrong with California here with them? 40 years ago the wetside was a pretty nice place to live. If the east side ever secedes from the rest of Washington (you would be right to) I'm moving there. I'm in for a flyswatter. Rodney -
Are you on OWWM too?

Egyptian Leather sells Tiger thread in small amounts on Etsy. The owner is a great guy, he's always been helpful to me. If you prefer twisted thread instead of braided, I recommend Maine thread. You can buy it fairly cheaply from BuckleGuy.com and it's made here in the USA.

Beautiful work!

Totally agree on the older machinery. Unless you spend serious money the new stuff doesn't come close. Great job on the pony! I'm thinking about a better one for myself too.

!'m surprised no one has answered this. I don't have any answers either but this will at least bump you back to the top.

servo motor on vintage domestic sewing machine
rodneywt1180b replied to Mike124's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
If you're limiting yourself to garment weight leather you might get away with using a domestic machine. The other limits you're going to run into would be thread, needle and stitch length sizes. As much as I like vintage domestic machines (I have around 30 in my collection), you're better off long term buying a machine designed for leather.
