  1. A few more pictures but still not complete:) Sam
  2. Yes, nice work! I have a wallet like that that I carried for years when I rode my Harley all over the United States and thanks to the chain, I never lost it, unlike other normal wallets that can work their way out of your back pocket. The belts look professional but wait until you decide to do fancy tooling on one-----Believe me, it takes forever doing it by hand, without a press. It is a pain but I normally dye even the inside of my projects. Sometimes I use a different color for some interesting contrast. Oh, dye the insides before you put everything together:) Sam:)
  3. That's beautiful! I've caught a lot of Stingray's on the California coast but have never seen their flesh tanned. I like it.:) Did you get it at a Tandy store? When I use any super thin hide, I superglue the edges before I make the final pattern cut and stamp holes for stitching, it keeps things together and makes it easier to burnish. I suggest that when you take a picture of the inside of a wallet, you use a $100 bill---it's much more impressive:) Sam
  4. Very nice and I especially love the stitching:) Sam
  5. Do you serve cheese with your 'whine?' LOL Sorry, I couldn't resist. I like your work! It looks 'heavy duty,' like mine! Sam:)
  6. Picture of top of the case. Alligator embossed hide dyed green, first coat. Lots left to do Sam
  7. Very nice work. I like the carry handle.:) Sam
  8. I want to thank all of you that helped clear up this 'ounce' thing! I love the charts. I have several dial gauges used in reloading so I'll take a look:) Sam
  9. I have no idea! I just visit Tandy, look for bargains and restock:) It is thick though, maybe 3/16 but very soft and quality feeling. I still don't understand all of this "ounce" stuff---tell me how big the sample is when they weigh it and say---3 OZ or 9 OZ??? Even the sales people at Tandy had no idea:) Sam
  10. Customer loves green so it will get progressive coats. I'm going to use an 'Alligator pattern' skin for the cover flap and other pieces. Sam:)
  11. The first attempt at using a Zipper I found very difficult to do and not only that but the Zipper is tough to open and close! Mink oil helped and maybe the Zipper will wear in a little. The pictures shown are before buffing and an application of Mink oil to bring out the shine:) Sam:)
  12. Very nice work! I just completed my first little 'clutch purse' with a zipper:) Question for you: Is the zipper difficult to open and close???? Mine is and I used identical methods to attach the thing! When I rubbed the purse with Mink oil, the zipper worked better but not by much. I will post a few pictures of my creation in a few minutes:) Beautiful job:) Sam
  13. WOW from me Absolutely beautiful work. The Christian stitching is a wonderful testimony Sam
  14. If it was pointed back in your woods scenario, (if I didn't have enough sense to stay out of heavy brush) and turned right, it would/ could unsnap and it would still stay in the sheath--Oh My The knife is 12.5 inches overall length and ready for some Canadian Bear skinning:) Sam:)
  15. Beautiful work and good luck on your restoration! It is amazing to me that when I 'tool' my projects, I have to make sure that my fingernails are cut very short or those little half-moon markings show up. Below is a good start for a restoration:) Notice that the only thing that looks to have partially survived is part of the real leather seat:) Sam
  16. I like it! I am an Amateur and I can still critique even the professionals stuff---if one looks closely. Hiding errors of diverse kinds is a skill I have had to learn but they already know:) Just imagine critiquing Bosch, Picasso or Vincent Willem van Gogh! Truthfully their art looks pathetic but later proved visionary and surrealistic. I think you art is beautiful. Sam")
  17. I like it and you should be proud! Sam:)
