I made a belt for my son
Caesar replied to Firewalker's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Looks great! I stitch belts all the time on my 3200. Love it. I'm sure your son is very appreciative of your beautiful work. -
I have not used that combination, but it seems like that would be okay. Don't take my word for it though. Use a small piece of scrap as a tester and see how it behaves. Best of luck!
-
I haven't hand stitched a belt in a while. But I wouldn't even think of trying to do one with a single strand. Pulling all of that through sounds like a nightmare. Not to mention it probably weakens the thread being pulled though so many holes. I would just take 2 arms lengths and start a new one when you're getting short. Good luck!

How I now straighten leather for strap cutting
Caesar replied to RockyAussie's topic in How Do I Do That?
Excellent post. Thank you so much for showing us all this. I have seen similar setups, but with folks cutting it ON the table. Yours looks so much easier to cut with it hanging off. I have been planning on putting together a setup like this for a while. This helps a ton. Lately I've been cutting more and more straps and it is desperately needed. I really like the door idea as well. Was planning on doing this in my garage. A door or something else I can stand up and put out of the way would be ideal for me. I have been laying out sides on my bed and using a strap cutter.... Thanks again @RockyAussie! -
I can understand not liking certain people for shamelessly plugging products. Feel free not to watch those that offend you. Or in your case, I guess just don't watch any videos at all. I posted it because I thought that perhaps the list could be of use to someone, and maybe they could suggest some channels that I'd not seen before. I enjoy seeing how others do things. To get a different perspective. If someone spends a few seconds trying to put some food on the table, so be it. If it seemed excessive I'd probably not watch them again.

I wasn't really sure where to post this. Why move it to the ads section?

In no particular order. Some of the channels I've enjoyed. I don't really care about their partnership with Tandy. I wish them the best, but Tandy has never impressed me in the least. Anything that you can get at Tandy can be found elsewhere on the web at better quality and prices. I don't really watch Stock & Barrel Co videos anymore. I am much more interested in videos of people actually making things, rather than on their lifestyle. Nothing wrong with what they do. just not my thing.

Cowboy CB800 Manual Leather splitter. Great entry level splitter. I've been using it for making belts and straps. Just upgraded to a Cowboy Model CB 8020 and no longer need this one. Ready to go, very sharp. Paid $250. Now available for $220 Shipped! Precisely skive lap joints or level cut holster or saddle pieces. Easily mounted to the workbench, the heavy frame allows a secure placement of the leather pieces prior to cutting. The 6" blade is nearly 1/2" thick, highly polished, and ground to a very keen edge. This blade is extremely sharp, and can be reground and polished as required. An internal adjustment allows a change from lap skiving to flat level skiving which allows a double stack of straps to be stitched together for greater strength. My vid of actual splitter- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eu30rRfzrk8&feature=youtu.be Better video of it in action with Ryan Neel from Neel's Saddlery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4o6-ednGLo&feature=youtu.be

Cowboy CB3200 forward / reverse lever slipping.
Caesar replied to Caesar's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Thanks Wiz! Will do. -
Hello all. As stated in the title my Cowboy CB3200 forward / reverse lever is slipping when it should be stuck at whatever stitch length I'm set to. I tried Googling to no avail. Rather new to sewing machines. Is this a complex fix? Thank you for an help!

This is one of the most bizarre threads I've ever read. This guy is looney tunes, and a complete jackass to boot. I can't see how anyone would ever even consider doing business with a creep like this.

Belt I just Finished
Caesar replied to Caesar's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
I am head over heels in love with this machine. My arthritis is extremely happy about the move away from hand stitching. -
Just purchased my first sewing machine. After doing a bit of research, I decided on a Cowboy CB3200. Very excited to get going with this thing. Had it for a couple of weeks now, but haven't had a ton of time to play with it. Stitched perfectly right out of the box. Big thank you to Ryan Neel for dialing it in nicely for me! Some pics of a belt I made for myself (my old belt was trash). First actual "item" sewn on this machine. https://imgur.com/gallery/asmS5ue

https://imgur.com/gallery/bmhP3gY Large assortment. Received as a gift from my aunt. I only use black and white thread generally, so wouldn't ever really use it. (I know, I'm boring =P ) 70 yards a roll. I have played around with probably about 8-10, of the rolls, but never used more than a yard at most of any of them. So, all are guaranteed to be at least 69 yards. =) Very strong thread. That's a lot of thread. You could use it to begin construction of the worlds largest ball of waxed polycord thread and start your very own tourist attraction!... Or just sew a million kajillion delightfully awesome handmade items and share your art with the world! 6 rolls of the .04" waxed poly thread - in top row of photos. Originally $6.60 a roll 8 rolls of the .02" waxed poly thread Originally $4.40 a roll Second row from top in pictures. 29 rolls of the .03" waxed poly thread Pretty much every color they have I think. Originally $5.94 a roll Conversion of sizes for those used to mm- .02" = ~0.5mm .03" = ~0.76mm .04" = ~1.0mm https://www.mainethread.com/ Total paid retail. 6 rolls @.04" = $39.60 29 rolls @ .03" = $172.26 8 rolls @ .02" = $35.20 Total Paid = $247.06 Plus shipping I'd prefer to sell as one lot. Asking $140 Over a hundred bucks off retail!
