That's only the start of the problem though, we all have that, and dividers, calipers, stitching wheels, makers, irons punches. And on and on and on. @Matt S Collects old BIG machinery (ok I am jealous of the splitting machine) Dont even try to work out the ratio of sewing machines to forum members, I have 6 and don't think I have a problem. There are others on here that have way more. I have so many rulers, squares and straight edges its scary. Do you ever give yourself the feeling that you are a hoarder? I just have. OK Hi I'm Harry and I have a problem with ALL tools...

Nova-Pro 15000mw 800mm x 400mm laser

Thanks Grant, they're better photos than I'd be able to take. You may be interested in some of the 3d printer threads too. Harry -
I find it holds the edge better, and is certainly a better use of funds. Sensible man, your grandfather. H

I make my own blades out of hacksaw blades, sharpen, strop, use, strop and so on. One of my blades is 30 years old, and still very sharp. H

Good for you, I am pleased that it works for you. I am great with half head knife but round knife is only for specific tasks for me. Don't have any issues with it, but years of using clickers knife and half head leave me rerely using the round knife. Horses for courses. H

They're huge employers in my family's hometown too, bad news all round.

Yup, that's the bunny I was referencing

I always add links by cut and paste into text of message http://www.google.co.uk/ Like that. Mike, thanks for your clarification. And I echo praise for Johanna Harry

Nova-Pro 15000mw 800mm x 400mm laser

Pictures tomorrow, I am sitting down to dinner at 22:20 and I am well food focussed. I am keen to try personalisation, and also multiphase cutting of intricate shapes, on various leathers. Tests worked well on 6 mm each dog lead leather. H -
I have just had delivery of my new laser etcher / cutter, initial set up was straight forward, and an initial run at very low power has given me great hope of it fulfilling my expectations totally. Once I have got used to it, I will post an update and critique of the machine. It has been a pleasure dealing with Grant at Nova Robotics, he has an eBay store and is a genuine enthusiast. That's all now, need to go and eat...

Does anyone own / use a Campbell-Randall Lockstitch machine in the UK, I'd be intrigued to see one, and maybe get one (depending on cost) Thanks Harry

I picked up a great Arkansas stone from a secondhand tool shop for £5 UK / $6.60 US, so its well worth looking. Never did get on with the new fangled, everything changes, diamond stones (even Mrs HW did not want one as a mothers day gift - I told her it was diamonds and everything!) The comments on a strop are spot on too. Mine has two flesh sides (one each side) one with a carborundum mix, home done, the other is just Flesh side out, but very tight horsehide, as a final polish. Thank you Mike, That is good to know. Harry

Cheers Matt, I sense another Abbey order coming on. H

Not just for us, but for farmers around the world too; I have been using RoundUp for years and years and years, but then I soooo miss toluene based glues. (Oh happy days...) DUI just on the way home from a normal working day H

Singer 188K1 Due to another machine purchase I have this very fast industrial for fabrics, including some heavy. I have used it for linings of bags, and a couple of fabric tote bags. I have never tried it on leathers, without a servo motor, I could not get the speed down enough to be content. Hence the low asking price of £75 to members of the forum, I will be listing it on eBay for 33% more than this, but please PM me and we will sort something out. Its in the UK 240v single phase motor, and would need to be collected from Norfolk. Harry

Depends entirely on the tanning method. I have used elephant years ago, veg tanned and it polished well. I would not back that statement for other tannages. H

Now that's food for thought. I know that there are Tandy Store managers and ex managers on the forum, and others that really rate their local stores; maybe there's a counterpoint.... Hard to see where though. Mike, pm me ref websites, about to go into a deal for a store... you may save my sanity. H

Manchester store online is a helpful place, I have placed phone and internet orders, but its not the same as a 2 hr drive to Northampton for in store deals. H

And to the fittings and bijouterie industries. H

This may well be my favorite response to anything, anywhere

It probably relates to glues and garnishes used, I am shocked it doesn't warn you it may be sharp. I bought peanuts in the US that kindly warned me they "may" contain nuts. H

Seriously, even I don't want to know what its like in mine. H

Will they be turning up too? I'd rather hoped 4-0 last time would leave them with no sport, so they'd send out the juniors. H

Lost too much over the years to foreign rip offs, so dont post pics. If I was hobbying or solely making one offs, maybe, but I need to get some money back before I am undercut by someone with no Health and Safety, Employee welfare, or Wage bill concerns. My stuff is traditional, but its food in my belly. Sorry Rockoboy, first time I've not seen eye to eye with you. Best Harry
