  1. great tutorial scooby. The pix make it easier to follow. Thanks so much! TinyL
  2. Call her Athena. Her expression evokes a virginal yet knowing quality. She looks like she's wearing a warrior's headdress to me and just reminds me of the goddess. She's beautiful by the way. TinyL
  3. Thanks for the info guys. I want to get this stuff together so that I can make it soon and have it on hand. Is it ok to punch air holes in the top of the container so it won't explode while it's fermenting or should i just pop the top every few days? TinyL
  4. Panther - that portfolio is beautiful. I love how you set the design into the leather as if someone tore a piece of giftwrap and found the treasure lurking beneath it. How did you seal the piece after applying the acrylics? TinyL
  5. Good morning! I followed the threads for the vinegaroon and just have a couple of questions that need claifying. How much steel wool to how much vinegar (measurement wise)? What container -plastic vs. metal? How long should the wool soak in acetone to degrease and do you rinse in water before putting in the vinegaroon? Thank you, TinyL by the by, I have no rusty nails to work with, which I find hard to believe but that's the story my husband is sticking with!
  6. Thanks for all the replies everyone. It's been very helpful. It's actually spurred me on to trying the vinegaroon recipe. I have a question about that so i'll start another thread, but thanks for all the insight. TinyL
  7. Good morning, What type of leather can you buy that is already dyed black that can still be tooled like veg tan? Is it better just to dye it yourself of is this leather decent for projects ranging from bike seats to wallets? Varying opinions and views are appreciated! TinyL

    Let's talk Borders

You're funny and make me laugh!
  9. Shirley, The seat is beautiful and the paint job is awesome. What kind of paint did you use and how did you apply it? Also what kind of sealer if any went over the top to keep the paint from rubbing off? I'd like to try paints but wonder how they will hold up. Thanks for your help. TinyL
  10. Rickeyfro that looks awesome. Could you give the dimensions on it and also tell me what oz. you used? I love how it's round. Can you maybe post a pic of the inside? Thanks, TinyL
  11. Your bag is beautiful! May I ask what oz. leather you used and is it possible to get a pic of the inside? Did you add something to stiffen the bag or did you just use a heavier leather? Thanks, TinyL
  12. Thanks for the vote of confidence ClayB. You're right. They all shouldn't look alike. I just have to find the people that will appreciate what I can do. Thanks again! Chris
  13. Thanks MadMax for that insight. Just this weekend I was thinking of how the female segment of the biker population seems almost virtually untapped. I think it's going to be an uphill walk (both ways) trying to get into what is predominantly a "boys club" but I'm looking into seeing if I could touch base with the female riders out there. Just like you said, we LOVE to accessorize our stuff. TinyL
  14. Thanks for the compliments guys. I'm aware that riders aren't going to be looking for geishas on their seats. It's really just a 3D ad that will sit in this guys shop allowing them to see what I can do. I would rather do skulls and the like. They are much easier to draw for me. I also wanted someone to physically pick it up, touch it and look at it and let their imagination run wild a bit. I guess let them realize that it can be anything they want ( if that makes sense ). But thanks again for the comments TinyL
  15. This is a prototype seat that will go in a motorcycle shop to do some free advertising ( hopefully with some success ) for me. I went with the black to show that black could be done as well as a tan color. My husband recommended I do it this way and after all was said and done, I'm happy with how it turned out. Let me know what you think. TinyL
  16. thanks for the info Ian. It helps alot. Tiny
  17. Ian The video was really helpful. May I ask a couple questions? What oz leather did you use? Did you use a stiffener in the bag? The part that got deleted was something I was really interested in. Thank you for your help. TinyL
  18. Freddo, I would like to let you know that I recently received a leather order from Zack White's. I ordered 3/4 oz and 5/6 oz single shoulder and the leather was superb. Now my frame of reference is stuff I ordered on sale at Tandy. It is like night and day. I live in NJ and don't have the luxury of having a leather store nearby where I can physically see it. I will only order leather from Zack's going forward. I felt that I got a great deal for the quality that I received. I'm sure if you do a thread search you will find a lot of varying opinions on where to get your leather, depending on application. I'm just throwing my two cents in and letting you know I was impressed with my order. Hope it helps. TinyL
  19. Troy For the seat you showed in this thread, are you lacing the bottom or riveting it? can you show pix if you're lacing it? Thanks for the help. TinyL
  20. I love the paisley detail on the skull. It's really cool.
  21. I love how you did the flames. It looks great!
  22. after you use the stitch groover, do you then cut with the SK? thanks
  23. border toolabove is the link to the tandy site for this. I think whinewine that you and I are thinking of the same thing. Now i just have to follow your instructions. Thanks for the help!TinyLBTW don't laugh, but originally I didn't even try it with swivel knife. DUHHHH on me!
  24. Timd1159, They look fantastic! What type of leather lace did you use and what size were the holes? On the one that has the fabric lining, how did you cut the holes to lace the leather? It's hard to tell because of the dark background. I would like to try one of those to work on lacing technique. Are those really heavy duty magnets? Thanks and they are really wonderful. TinyL
  25. ValinorKings, I think it's beautiful!
