  6. Badger don't beat yourself up,give the customer what they want and move on !! I bet they were satified with it..What did you charge for it?
  7. That appears to be a WW2 "Tanker" holster and the Vedigris is from the brass snaps,If your cust is not a purrist or collector I would replace the snaps with Chrome plated or Stainless From the Boat Canvas folks .That will delay the return of verdigris.I have had good luck in restorations with Lexol ,but use it very sparingly.I have been collecting this stuff since the 60"s so I hope it turns out OK!
  8. Thanks Tina ,I just ordered from them ,timely Post as usual .I have been watching your work and I am very impressed! Thanks again!!

  10. As I have read this entire post I have been wondering how many Tens of thousands of folks who are standing back watching this parade of Clowns in Washington and feeling the same way we do.What the hell is carbon credits? and how does it help anyone except Al Gore?As God is my witness I am Scared to Death for our Country and My Grandchildren.I will Stand and Defend Her still today!

  14. Wecome Aboard ,all the above is good adv I would add do not , I repeat ,Do not rush that wife idea! It took me some time to figure that out!I got married before I shipped out to Vietnam that was a big mistake...So take some time to find that person who will pull on the same end of the rope with you.Miss Dana and I have been together 32 years now,My Dad told me in 1963 that" marriage is forever" but I thought he had lost it.He was trying to make me understand "Thank God and grayhound She's Gone".A Bad one Hangs on forever!
  15. I heard there was aproposal in Kansas to charge everyone 1/4 cent for every mile you drive! I am ready to take back my country when the time comes! The Socialists are now in charge!
  16. Nice looking gear Jake ,have you attended a SASS shoot? those guys would give you some orders!they have 80k plus members and you are req to wear five articles of Cowboy Gear to compeat,(www.sassnet.com)Find a local aff. club and take some examples of your products...It works for me!!
  17. I tell most people up front that they can get it cheaper from several mfg's But if you look at Elpaso leathers gear it's very hard to compete.I do price at about 55-60 for an unlined veg tan. that being a veriant of the single loop mexican, lined with a buckle I would price it at 85-90$.Hope this helps you some.
  18. Welcome to the foram, hope you find it as helpful as I have! You are so right about the old tools thry do not make them like they used to!!

Joe good to see you here! I wish I had some Braiding experience but I do not,I was however pleased that the PIF I sent meets your approval.I'll try to find something in the few books that i have.
  21. Jim rhall here ,I want to thank You for those great cell phone holsters. my Grand Daughters are so proud of them, only one problem though,My daughter's favorite color is pink ,so she is drooling over the one Amber got!LOL That was a fine PIF Gift and there is nothing like them in NC! I took photo's of them but do to my computer ignorance could not seem to get them on the foram.I am so pathetic on this thing!I hope we can keep in touch andit's great to here from you.The girls said they can sell some if you would like them to handle your North Carolina Franchise!!
  22. The Tut is agood one I did notice a typo at the begining under veg tan paragraph..I think the word should be "Carnauba" cream,Thanks for sharing Joanna...Your the best!
  23. I made two burnishers last week.I bought a piece of red oak at HD that was slightly larger than the two Hole saws that I used .2.5 &2". I clamped the 1"by 3" RO board on the Drill Press Table, centered The 5/8" forsner bit and drilled through the RO,Then I replaced the FB with a hole saw cutter{like you would use to go through a door to install a door lock} without moving the clamped RO board. Now I cut out that circle.Irepeated the Poeration 6 times giving me 3 2.5" and 3 2" perfectly centered discs.I had taken the cotten Buffig wheels off of my stand mounted buffer, that's where the 5/8" shaft measurement came from.I simply Put wood glue on the discs mounted them on the buffer shaft and tightened the nuts, wiped off the excess glue, turned on the buffer and used arat tailed file against the turning RO disc to cut a groove in the center of each of the three boards...three boards..three different width grooves.repeated on the other side of the buffer gave me 6 grooves. As the buffer is variable speed I can adjust the speed. This sounds like alot of work, but I probably spent an hour on the whole project,It works wonderfully and cost me 8.00$.If any of you would like a set of Discs I would consider making them for you..Let me know
  24. Thats going to look good,I like the Oak Leaf patern,Are you doing a Matching holster?I Have done alot of holsters but my carving/Stamping needs alot of work! Thanks for sharing ,sometimes a photo of the project in progress is just enough to get us back to those unfinished ones we all have sitting aside!
  25. Good Grief what a project ,that is great work,I hope you shoot those .45's that's my favorite calibre,I wish I could spend a lot more time shooting. You are a true artisan Sir.Thanks for sharing!
