There is a You tube video by Felicity & Allen Handmade. It shows a leather one being made, with a link to an AU company with patterns. I hope this helps. -

Great idea! A nice way to personalize a case. Take that to the range, and I bet you get a lot of interest.

I had a similar occurrence, this past summer it got extremely hot and humid here in Florida, more than it usually does. My Tokonole looked like a curdled dairy product. And it smelled odd. Very close to your picture. I would bet it encountered extreme temp change.
