What were your first leather projects? How do you grow skills efficently?
Frodo replied to Brigg's topic in Getting Started
I bought a sheet of bag stiffener or the cover of spiral note book or a file from the filing cabinet and have actually sewed it together, to completion. and then tore it apart to make patterns, sometimes you just have to make do. No template, took a picture off of the internet, glued it to wood and made a template then started making the holster using bag stiffener using some of the original components -
Is the customer EVER going to get his package?
Frodo replied to Frodo's topic in All About Us and Off Topic
NO. they lost it. and refuse to payout the $50.00 insurance claim They say when it got on the plane to go over seas then they had no way of tracking it in other words the insurance they give you is not worth a dingaling -
This how I cover a whip handle, You need, A a piece of 3/4'' pvc what ever length you need A 3/4pvc cap, for the other end, i use a 1'' coupling, a 3/4 coupling You will need 25 lengths of lace 6'' longer than the pipe 1 piece of lace that will spiral around the entire length of the pipe For the other end saw the 3/4 coupling in half. inside the 1'' coupling is a small pipe stop ridge, dermal that ridge gone the 3/4 coupling should slide into the 1'' coupling push it in half way glueed cover the 1'' coupling with a braid slide it onto the handle that you made, the coupling should over hang the pipe just enough to dress up the edge epoxy the whip into the 3/4 pipe

Yes I have a couple of tips for you you, Here is a small wet formed pouch about the size of your watch . ...It is for my sewing needle packs Measure your watch, cut the bottom piece the measurement you want the item to be cut the top piece 1/4'' wider are you going to line the pocket with a soft 2 oz leather? add that and leave it larger than you want. trim off the excess liner go ahead a decorate, stamp dye the pieces then sew every thing together, next, drop the pouch into a pan of water for 15 /20 seconds put the watch in a baggie, shove it into the pouch, use your fingers to form the details set it out of the way and let it dry I form pistols and knives, and a baggie works just fine,

I do not have a problem with USMC black, I think it might be because I do not follow the 'normal' directions I apply the stain, wait about 5 minutes then apply the resolene, I apply the resolene liberally and set it aside to dry here is a holster i am currently working on

I use a neutral color wax, then buff

i saw a bag the other day that i thought was really nice, But if you know me, I like rustic !!1 The bag looked to be 8oz veg tan, with a neets foot oil finish It looked like 1 piec of leather folded, and the gusset was folded in, and stitched with raw hide strips I made a simple sketch of what it looked like tell me what you think, and if you draw, bring it to life, I am going to make this
