tanneries that supply leather for Tony Lama and Jama Boots?
gtwister09 replied to esantoro's topic in Suppliers
Ed, Did you ever find the information that you were looking for? You may ask Leatherimages (Paul Krause) if you didn't get any information. He may be able to help.... Regards, Ben -
Don't know how I missed this one... Great clean lines, design and execution. Great work! Regards, Ben

Finally made yourself one.... Good on you! The BearMan's BearMaul... Regards, Ben

David, Great work as always. A breaking out clown is great.....in Robb Barr fashion. It's too bad that you couldn't emboss a seat like that but who wants a lumpy ride ... Maybe a picture like that embossed....... Regards, Ben

Johanna is right about the snap to feature. One of the other things is to enable the ability to fast track (increase motion) and enhance pointer precision. Higher resolution mice like Black Adder's and such give you the best resolution. On a 1920X1200 26" monitor, I move less than 1-1/4" to move across the diagonal (upper left to lower right). Just a word of warning about trackballs.... The idea that they are upside mice makes them better has been touted as a major benefit of them for over 15 years but several of the draftsmen developed serious issues with their thumbs after using them. You don't have to move your hand and on and on are listed as the major benefits. Instead of transferring the motion in several larger joints like shoulder, elbow, wrist and such it was localized to a much smaller thumb joint. A couple of things come to mind...(1) If you are using a cheap older low resolution mouse, (2) What type of mouse is it ball or optical (Ball mice get dirty and you see people constantly pushing them around to make them work before they clean them and (3) Is your mouse on the same plane as your keyboard or is it at a different level where you have to move up and down/back and forth between the mouse and the keyboard. Just some things to think about as well as checking the mouse properties to see if that helps.. Hope that helps. Regards, Ben

Bob, As I said a couple of weeks ago....Absolutely awesome! Once again I REALLY like the layout of meandering and floral with the breaks in the border. I also liked the break in flowers including the double flowers. You design work for this one is great. Knife work is GREAT as always. The paint color was a great complimentary choice as well. My hat's off once again! Regards, Ben

Steve, Somehow this slipped past me. I have to agree with all the others that you have great looking smooth lines in your work as always. Thanks for the pictures. Regards, Ben

Flower, Border, and Roughout Saddle
gtwister09 replied to RWB's topic in Saddle & Tack Maker Gallery
Ross, I too like those graduated circles [alot]. The first time that I saw one of those graduated circle/beaded line/sunburst combination was on a Slim Green saddle. The graduated circles were in the corners of a square skirt/jockeys, seat. center of cheyenne roll and on the fenders. Very simple and clean but an added touch. You have incorporated them into your design nicely as well. Regards, Ben -
Donnie, Hmmmmm.... I put burnisher in and had a number of hits... Here's a thread describing one of them... Burnisher Link Regards, Ben

Andy, Like Bruce I really like the visible break made by the 7 circles around the borders. Great combination of floral and basketweave. Regards, Ben -
Andy, Ditto for me... Like Bob I am a great fan in the use of other elements such as the florals for borders and tying that into designs. Great work. Regards, Ben

Casing Solution
gtwister09 replied to Tkleather1's topic in Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.
Yes to the brown mouthwash... On a side note I had someone share with me the other day that they used this to keep something cased for 2 weeks with no mold or marking of the leather. I have to agree with Bruce on the quick casing penetrating more quickly with Procarve. I also agree with Bob's comments on the stropping and tough/hard leathers. Regards, Ben -
Dave, Nice and clean work.... Great sense of humor... So now what are you going to do with the saddle? Does it still go to his heirs? Regards, Ben

JW, Nice looking saddle...Nice job. Regards, Ben

Gun Rug / Gun Case
gtwister09 replied to BearMan's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Ed, You certainly are having a little fun at his expense. It does look nice. A little different border for the basketweave. I assume that you used the "D" for a lock device of some type. The pinked outlines are unique again. Good look! Regards, Ben -
Casing Solution

Joe, I have pretty much used No More Tears over the years. However with that said like Bruce I have tried "generics". I have only found one bottle that didn't work when my kids were younger and we purchased some generics. When I looked up the listed compounds on that brand there were a lot of differences between it and No More Tears by Johnson. By the way that generic one that I used burned the kids eyes as well...so that may have only been a coincidence but something to think about. From that point on Johnson's was the only one purchased for the kids. My suggestion is to start off with No More Tears and see the difference and then you can gauge others against that. However if you cannot get it in some places then try the other. I stick with it now after that one bad batch of generic (I cannot remember the name of the brand because I pretty much stuck with Johnson's after that) but you never know that could happen with anything that allows QC to diminish. Your mileage may vary as always... Like Bruce stated, I had about the same impressions as he did (maybe not exact but similar). I started off with water/overnight casing and top dressed/slicked saddle soap and have tried Procarve on several occasions over the years only to return to this formula. Regards, Ben P.S. I have also used it as a quick casing solution as well for teaching kids but prefer long term or overnight casing to quick casing. In some ways quick casing may seem like a misnomer and elicits some strong passions... -
