  1. Well my Singer came today and I'm not sure things are right. please look at the picture. To the right of the bobbin theres some red fuzzy stuff and what looks like a piece of spring steel. Does this look right to those who know this machine?
  2. Brings tears to my eyes when people do good deeds. Beautiful job too.
  3. I'm wondering if I cut the skin a little long and used a glue that didn't set so fast it if would slide back when I folded the flap over then clamp in place till glue set up
  4. I didn't put anything on it for a finish. Preforming might work but will be very difficult to due. Skin is very thin and as soon as it touches the contact cement you can't move it with out tearing it, so getting it perfect the first time is essential Right the skin didn't stretch I thought it would
  5. I glued a snake skin to a piece veg tan on a knife sheath and when I folded over the flap the skin pulled apart. This is supposedly real snake skin. Is this normal. any Ideas on how to fix it, or maybe stop it from happening in the first place?
  6. I just turned my ad blocker off for this site. If it helps the site I'll leave ads on if it doesn't make any difference to the site I'll turn them off again.
  7. photo buckets gone and so are your pictures exactly why we ask you to post photos here and not on the web. yes its an old thread but new people look at tall the stuff from the past
  8. sounds logical
  9. I notice all the cigar case's I've seen have the slide on top and not a snap closure, any particular reason for this?
  10. thats really disheartening news as I bought one on the advice of someone else on this forum that said it worked just fine.
  11. I don't make a lot of stuff mostly knife sheaths and holsters wallets and the like. Use 6 to 8 oz veg and 5 to 6 Oil or chrome . I plan to upgrade the 99 with a 1.5 amp motor and the larger fly wheel. Do you think I'll be happy with this machine?
  12. I've used stain for dying leather works well and comes in any color you want
  13. Hey its a beautiful Holster and the stitching looks fine.I'm in the same boat. I got a singer99 coming should be here in a few days. Never even saw a sewing machine close up. So I guess I'll be lookin at videos to learn also. The scary thing to me is getting the dam thing threaded, looks pretty complicated. In this hole around that thing down under this and wrap around that then then thru this hole bla bla bla YIKES
  14. OMG he's Joking I like det cord OL
  15. thats outstanding work and very valuable to the right clients.
  16. can we see the finished product?
  17. Yes I'd like to see it opened also and whats used for closer? Velcro, magnets?
  18. I design in Corel Draw, I make my holes 1mm and cut the leather with a laser, then I use a dremel and drill out all the holes with a 1.6 mm bit. I also use rubber fingers for pulling the needle thru this makes a big difference for gripping the needle. Sure some here don't like the the holes but hey to each his own right.

  20. exactly 100 to 110 maybe wouldn't go much higher then that
  21. not sure what you mean by Form worse. Using a dryer box or an oven to speed up the drying process is fine. Its not going to change the form of the holster. Just don't make the oven to hot, like use the lowest setting the oven will turn on and then watch your holster. When its cold enough to run the furnace I set my sheaths on the heater vent over night this works pretty good.
  22. found a 99 what thread would I use with it. I'm brand new at machine sewing never had one, no nothing about them. I suppose I'll have a time getting up and running for the first time. any tips
  23. thats the one I bought but it was 5 years ago and on sale I paid 4 plus I picked it up at the factory no shipping fees
  24. dont buy a glowforge. look at Rabbit ,Thunder or boss lasers they have financing and youll be a whole lot happier. I bought a rabbit laser 6 years ago and very happy. It cost a little more but for the support and reliability of this laser it was worth it.
