  1. the sheath has a plastic roller in it the knife is partially open fit into the sheath amd the blade over the roller. when you pull the knife out the blade is open by being pulled over the roller.
  2. The one I started was for a buck 110 , Im sure you can make it work with a 112 Like I said its hand drawn and still needs refining.

  4. I have one someplace that I hand drew and it still needs work if your willing. I didn't finish it because I didn't like the way it worked LOL what knife ???
  5. what kind of leather did you use for the case , would love to see a picture.
  6. Yes I for got to bevel the edges my bad there. I didn't mold the pockets on these, wanted the knife to slip in and out with ease, molding puts retention on the knife also I wanted a pocket that would fit other knives of that style . But yes maybe 5oz leather would be ok for the trapper size knives. When I first started making the sheaths for the Buck 110 and lockbacks of that size, I made them from 5 oz and many thought they were flimsy so I jumped to 7-8 oz I didn't realize the snap made a difference. My stitching I like to keep 1/8" from the edge , even tho the edge is glued I think it helps hold it better if its close. Thanks for the suggestions
  7. Is it a big hassle to order from Amazon in Canada. If not they sell small sheets of leather in various thickness. for you pouch project you could order 1 or two sheets of 12"x12" Veg tan in 3 to 4 oz .

  16. Using a co2 laser does leave chard edges if you don't mask. I personally like the looks of the burnt edges and theres a client base out there that likes that look also. Masking is ok if theres not a lot of fine engraving. You have to weed all the masking off. I do a lot of basket weave engraving and if I masked that it would take forever to weed it all off. I don't normally dye my veg tan. I oil it with different types of oil. Then set it out in the hot sun to dry and change color. different oils give different color when it drys and also how long you leave it out in the sun. After the oil drys I then give it a couple coats of super sheen or resolene and let that dry real good. Then I laser engrave and cut the design out. Most of the residue will wipe off with a damp cloth. I sand the edges then bevel them and that removes most all of the char and burnt edges. Burnish and edge kote the edges and your done.see pictures , these I cut and engraved on my laser . you can hardly see any charing at all.
  17. Yea that may be fine for a drop in holster but will never work to make a fine molded holster with proper retention for drawing .
  18. So your so called 60 watt is really a 40 watt that they over drive to call it 60. Your tube is probably 1010mm long. 40W Laser Tube Length=1010mm, Diameter=51mm Expected Life: 2000+ hours Laser Tube, 40 Watt (48 Watts MAX, 40 Watts nominal) ..
  19. You should have no trouble engraving with a 40 or 50 watt co2 laser, no need to add $300 for a usless diode laser. Just someone trying to take advantage of people that don't know lasers. My 60 watt engraves and cut just fine. And engraves a lot faster then any diode laser.
