  1. Scraps of scraps of test sew scraps.
  2. Thank you. I dunno about the color. I order exotics by the lot so there’s no telling who tanned it. Came with everything from snapping turtle to elephant and everything in between. Big snake for sure. Thanks bro.
  3. Sheath I just finished up. Came out better than I expected. Couldn’t figure out what to do with the skin because I wasn’t impressed with the color it was. Came out al’ite…
  4. The 144 is sweet. Don’t know much about it tho being an SV. I have the 145w204 and love it. I got an exceptionally good deal on mine. I’d say 2000$ on the 144 for the simple fact it would definitely pay for itself in the right hands.
  5. Since there’s a teat involved, bison/ water Buffalo. My first thought was shark, but then the boob….
  6. Like I said, mix it the tip of a teaspoon too a bowl of warm water. I bag of oxalic acid will last you years. Home Depot has it, as others. Take a bar of saddle soap and a shampoo bottle. Scrap a little in the bottle and add hot water… that bottle will give you a saddle soap mix to use. A little shot of the bottle, with that little bit of tsp, and warm water in a bowl. Sponge. You should always use a saddle soap water mix on your leather when tooling anyway. Make the driest piece of leather look grade A. Give it a try, I think you’ll like the results.
  7. The spots are from your hands. Glue, oil, dirt etc. Try cleaning before dying with tsp (leather bleach) mixed with a little saddle soap. Very little tsp is needed in the mix. Too much will burn the leather. Your leather will look like the picture in the catalog when you ordered it, and not what you actually received. My 2 cents.
  8. My bad, didn’t answer the other questions. Yeah man, I use denatured alcohol on any oil or alcohol based dyes. 50/50 if you’d like, possibly more with some of the oil dyes. The eco dyes Tandy carry’s (oil) are thick. I never use them straight, helps in spraying to thin.
  9. Bro, i bought my rig in 1994. With an extra needle. I’ve never had to use the extra needle. Badger 155 anthem, sim air spar max compressor. Never had an issue. Never dyed without it. One time, black dye, never again… one time…

Thanks PastorBob, very cool! I’m actually afraid of getting hit in the head from behind and robbed for it. Sad to say, but it’s the world we live in. Thanks man!

Thanks bud. Big aliens fan. From HALO to Predator. Aliens are real. Especially here where I live in Texas. Ha!

It does have some weight to it. Especially with the leathers I used for backing the caiman. I used a side from Tandy that is actually way too expensive for lining, but I figured why go cheap now…. And it was handy on hand! Thanks man… I’m digging the alien comment from up above, just watched the Predator prequel, yeah, I can dig it!

Backpack I been working on for an upcoming event. Used every sq inch of a 5ft caiman and a 20+sq ft side. Actually may run short, on time and material.
  14. It’s sewing threw thicker material while still pulling the same length of thread as it was while sewing the thinner material. Unless you add stitch length you’re gonna lose a fraction of an inch every stitch. In an inch Theres the lost stitch.
  15. All you should have had to do was adjust the needle bar height and possibly swap feed dog. Three screws. At least on all my machines that’s all it took. My machines are singer and Union special that have the rollers. Really easy. Hope that’s all it entails for you.
  16. I bought my badger 155 and spar max compressor in 1994. It won’t die. One of the top 5 best investments I’ve made among this entanglement of shiny things you think you need. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ And so worth it on saving funds down the road. Plus there’s so much room for error when brushing Vs wiping on. You wipe on dye it’s there, that dark and only can get darker. Airbrush you decide the color, from the lightest brown to the darkest tint. You can cut those dyes by 50% with denatured alcohol too.
  17. I’d suggest investing in an airbrush set up. Just my opinion. You’ll save tons on dyes and your options when blending colors and multiple colors together are endless.
