  1. @SUP Thank you @Handstitched Yes I saw that thread . Thanks @YinTx Thanks , I made the daughter a neckless with the arrowhead , 2 pieces of 8 oz glued up and beveled the edges , some beads . I really had not thought about leather cord though
  2. My point exactly , butcher pays x $ per pound . He knows that some cuts will be worth more and charges accordingly . No one is talking about throwing out scrap leather just how to value it .
  3. Ain't I the odd duck here ? My scrap is free in that if after buying a B side of H O for $ 260.00 ( about $11.00 a sf / $ .95 a square inch ) I haven't paid for that in projects , I need a new hobby . I am sure if I made a living from leather I would feel different but even then I wouldn't charge my butcher the same for scrap as for top line leather .I know I wouldn't want to pay the same price for stew meat as prime rib ! To each his own after all the man that paid for whatever has the final say .
  4. Not bad at all . I bagged it for a few years when I first started construction then moved to a small cooler .
  5. cause I ain't gonna get rich . Here are some earrings for a lady that has a local shop that caters mostly to women . I'm sure for her to make any money I want be buying a side any time soon all scrap so nothing but time, a little oil and dye , and finish .
  6. Yeah it can be adapted for a good deal of things . thanks
  7. Cut a wood blank the size of the tablet , then cut that on the diagonal , put bottom piece in first , now top piece and hammer it in . All with the leather wet well with warm water ,

I had forgot you doing those , looks good !! There might be some formula , may just depend on playing with what tools one has . @JWheeler331 Thanks .
  16. I did this for an older fellow who made his livelihood for 53 years with draft horses snaking logs ( and moving anything else where less damage was needed ) .

@AlZilla and @PastorBob Seems to me the " trick " is the width of the lay - out lines . This one was .190 and worked , I did another with a full 1/4 inch ( .250 ) lay -out and it didn't turn out as well . Of course the size of beveler is going to make a difference too . 203 was what I used .
