My usual drink of choice is diet Mountain Dew. I drink it with every thing, food, alcohol, whatever. I do like gin and pinapple juice, to kill ya and salt and a slice of lemon, and sometimes Jim Beam or Jack Daniels shots. I hardly ever drink alcohol though, not too good for my diabetes and I have enough trouble with that right now as it is, LOL, it's hard to control sometimes. Up and down for any reason or no reason. I think that Peter's pictures were stolen from his web site. I do know that the people doing it were members of flasah, at least for a while and Peter asked them, in a public email to remove the picture that they stole from his web-site, from their web-site "theleatherartisan" that was on June 24, 2007. I don't think that it has been removed yet,but don't know. Billy P

I have in the past sent a personal thank you to Johanna for a lot of the things that she has helped me with. Now I want to give a big "THANK YOU" to all the others that all work together to keep the site up and running. Ya'll have created the best leatherworkers site in the world. That in itself is a mighty feat, but to keep it running and so helpful and friendly is an awesome task also. I know that the best leatherworkers on Earth are members of Leatherworker.net, but to have so much talent and to share it so freely is really great. Being disabled and going through some depression right now, getting up and going on the leatherworker.net/forum is really a bright spot in my days. When it was down for a few days a while back I really realized how much that I depend on it to help me through the day. Again THANKS to all of you that work so hard and so much to keep it up and running. Love you guys and gals, Billy P

Yes I was right Peter asked the fellow, Inam, to remove the picture of the belt that was stolen from Peter's website and posted to the eleather whatever site. That was on 6/24/2007. So now we know that he is a thief. He was a member of FLaSah but I don't know if he still is or not. Billy P

If I am not mistaken, this same outfit had some of Peter Main's belts posted on his web-site as his/their own. Peter asked them to take them off, but I don't think that they did. I may be wrong, but I don't think so. Regards BillyP

Hey Dude, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" I hope that it was a good one for you and may you have many, many more. We all hope to be seeing your work on leather for many years to come. Billy P

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, and THANK YOU for all the help. I am planning on making a strap or two just to have to show people some of my work. It looks as if I am going to have to start doing a lot more work and get it out there for the local people to see. Seems it's either that, or I may have to just quit for awhile and I'm not willing to do that. I usually don't try to sell much because, around here peoply will RATT YOU OUT and as I'm on disability I can't afford to get in trouble about my income. However I am gonna try and start doing some things for a donation to the cause if I can. It will be on a limited basis, but any thing that I get back to help buy leather and tools and such will be a help. Again thanks for the replies and help any and all are really apppreciated, and not just on straps but on other things as well. Kindest Regards Billy P

Hey Mike, a big congratulations from Billy P up down here in South Carolina, glad to hear that the baby and mama are doing fine. I'm smoking and drinking a toast to them right now. I'm always happy to see the new babies, make me to keep knowing that God don't make no mistakes. Take care and get some rest, you're gonna need it. As I was told a long time back when my daughter was born, at my age better thee than me. When the babies come I can send them home to mama and daddy. My job is to get em mean and get some payback now for what I went through, ROFLMAO. Being serious, ya'll did good and enjoy them as long as you can. Take care and all of you are much in our prayers. Later Billy P

Hey folks, my question is what do you use and how do you attach the neck end of the strap? I've seen some that looked like they had a shoe/boot string to tie around the neck. I just want to know how and what to use to make a custom strap. I know that on the body end to punch the holes and make a slit for the button. Any help will most gratefully appreciated, Billy P

Hey Marlon, you're looking good with the stitching horse my man. If what little I sent you helped any, then I am a happy man. I made me a stitching pony, kind of like Mr. Dale Grawboski makes. Mine isn't as nice, but it works for me at least for now. I jkust extended an old Tandy pony to get the height, then added a piece of lumber to the bottom to hold with my feet, an presto there it was. Ugly and functional, just like me. Anyway you did a good job and if I were closer to Ft.Worth, I'd get you to help me make one too. Later Bro, Billy P

Lesson in belt making....
Billy P replied to Rayban's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Hey Everybody, I've run into this same crapp a few times myself. I learned that if they want to tell me what size they need and I make it the size they tell me, then it's theirs, whether it fits them or not. Why waste muy time and leather making a belt that won't fit their butt, when they are telling me what size top make. I have always guarnteed my work, but when I tell them what and how to measure, if they are not around me, and they still give me a wrong measurement then it's on them. Ojne other thing is no matter who it is family. friend, stranger, or whoever before I put a mark on the leather, especially if they want a name or something I get at least a 50% deposit. I have and sure most, if not all of you all have belts and such laying around with a name, or a funky color, or a saying, or whatever on it that you never will see the people who ordered it again. I've got a size 44 fully tooled, ready to buckstitch belt with MONTY tooled on it, that I've not seen him since 1984, and probably never will again that I have kept all these years just to remind me about that. Anyway I'm off the box, somebody else come on up now. Just my .01 worth and later to all you fine people Billy P -
Hello everyone, in the last post Trastu, gave us a celtic alphabet to use, and a big thanks for that. My question is does anyone have and if they do could they send a letter set of the GOLDRUSH fonts. I've been to a bunch of places that have the goldrush but they all have quick brown dog thing and I am not computer literate enough to download it so that I can use it. Also if possible make them about 2x as big as the celtic fonts as I'm pretty dumb about resizing or enlargeing things on this fr***in thing. I hate being so computer dumb, but I can't help it, I guess I'm a slow learner, LOL. Anyhoo any and all help will most certainly appreciated a bunch. Billy P

To ask Oaks, question again, what weight leather is best to use to cut your own lace? Thanks Billy P

Johanna and Kate, thank you both for all that ya'll do for the forum. You always seem to go above and beyound the call of duty. I thought I had a problem on my end until this morning. Again thanks for all the work you do, from a grateful fan of you both. Billy P

Happy Birthday Johanna, wishing you many more, sending you a birthday hug from South Carolina. Thanks for all the work you do to keep the forum up and running and for being the person that you are. Like some of this fine wile grape wine we make down here, you just get better with age. Billy P

I don't know, but you might be able to do what a lot of people do. Make up most of the bag/pad, but leave about a quarter of it open. Put in a heavy weight freezerbag, or make a bag with one of the vacunm sealers, if you have one. Put the sand, rice, shot, or whatever you chose to use in the heavy plastic and sew it inside the leather pouch. It might work for you that way, hope so anyway. Billy P

Happy Birthday Anne, may you have many, many, more and enjoy everyone more that the last one. Billy P

swivel knife holster
Billy P replied to carr52's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I'll try and post one that I did for my Henley knife that my bud in California bought me and sent it in 2006. I love that knife and my buddy too. Billy P Sorry but I can't find the picture right now, but I will of I'll take some more and post it then, LOL I hate it when I can't find something on the puter. Billy P -
belt construction question
Billy P replied to sodapop's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
I learned back in the day, the hard way no doubt, that a snap will come loose at a bad time and a chicago screw won't. Once learned the hard way, I tend to always remember, LOL. Billy P -
Hey Ryan, I got the snaps that you sent me yesterday. While I certainly haven't had time to use them on anything yet, I can already tell you that they are a good design. They may be a little heavy for somewhat smaller items I see a lot of use for them on everything from clutch purses on up to bags etc. I guess that a persons imagination would be the worst limitation to how to use the new snaps that you've come up with. It's really a good innovation to closures for leather things. I think that they will probably be finding places on other type things that we may not have even thought about yet. I want to thank you for sending them to me and I'll certainly be interested in getting some more later on. As soon as I decide what I'm going to use one on I'll post a picture so that you can see how it was used. One other thing, I was surprised at how tight the snaps lock in. At first I had a concern that they might not want to hold, because of their weight, but can already see that doesn't seem like it is going to be a problem. Again thanks and let me know when you start getting them out to sell. With regards Billy P

Hilly, if you get with Jim I'm pretty sure that he will help you anyway he can with assemby of his Lace Cutter and Beveler. He sent me one sometime back, but due to illness I just started learning to use it lately. I have nerve damage in my RT. hand, due to diabetes. I can't hardly even hold one of the black ones from Tandy, but Jim's seems to be just the ticket, at least for me. It cuts really well and pretty easy to change the blade when it needs it. I haven't used the beveler yet, but based on the cutter, I'm sure it will be really handy too. Thanks a bunch Jim, You came up with a good design, especially for anyone with issues with grip in their hands. If I can use it some, like I have so far, most people will really be able to walk the dog cutting strings or thongs with your tool. Again thanks a bunch to Jim and if anybody else wants to try a good lace cutter try Jims, you'll like it too. With Kindest Regards, Billy P

Hey Dok, Carr, Budd, and you too Rich Just about any time ya'll wanna come up this way let me know. My little town doesnt have a Ice Cream place, but there are a couple of good ones out in McBee. I know for certain that one has the scooped ice cream and the other one, which would probably be the better of the two, has homemade ice cream. they use there on peaches and fruits in it. They also offer homemade cobblers and fresh fruits and veggies grown and picked off their own plants. It is McLeods farms roadside stand. One other thing is they also have a museum with old farming tools and equipment and such. Since ya'll from over towards Columbia have the longest ride let me know when and we'll meet right there on U.S. HWY 1, from Camden a straight shot and I'll show ya'll where it is. Anyway bye for now and we'll get together later. Billy P

Hey Budd, Doktor, and Carr, I live in South Carolina too. Doktor I'm right up the road from you. U.S. is main st. of my hometown. I'm north off you in a little spot in the road called Patrick. It's small, but it has been home just about all my life and I like it. Patrick is so small that I live 2 blocks off main st. and have to make a 30 mi. round trip to go to the grocery store. If you've been as far north as McBee, where they grow all the peaches, I'm 15 miles north of there. I go over to Lake Wateree a good bit fishing. I used to go a lot more and fish a lot of bass tournements over there, but since I have been disabled I'm not able and don't have the dollars to go as much, especially for entry fees, etc for the tournys. Anyway I'm sure glad to learn that we have more leatherworkers around than I had thought. I know around here and at least in the larger towns right around me that there aren't very many people who work with leather. Anyway I'm sure glad to here from ya'll here in S.C. and glad to have all of you in the Forum. This is the best place that I've ever seen for leatherwork help and for caring, generous, people. I've been a member for a couple of years and I for one am really grateful for being able to be member of this site. Johanna and I and a bunch more were all members of a leather guild and then some of them starter the forum. It, The Leatherworker.net/Forum, just had it's 2 year birthday, and I'm proud to say that I've been in it almost the whole time. It's about the best leather working move I ever made. Bye for now, gotta go do some honey doo stuff, but I'll catch ya'll later. Billy P

Hi All, lately I've seen a lot of bracelets and such braided like Comet's new collar. I'm wondering has anyone done a tutorial on how to do that braid with the wrapped lacing and then the V shaped interwoven in it? I would like to learn to do some braiding like these are. I would like to make myself a wrist wrap braided like that. Thanks for any and all replys Billy P
