  1. Osborne does I just punch a hole appropriately sized for the stud, then a smaller hole a short distance from it and cut a slit between the two, though.

    Belt Buckles?

That's a different looking one. Have you thought about just buying the solid brass one and nickel plating it yourself? I can't say it would be cost efficient, but it would get you what you want
  3. I would follow Dwight's advice--when I force-dry my work I usually just stick it in my car in the sun, which works quite well here in Phoenix because it gets to just the right temperature during the summer. You might have similar luck there in Utah if you are near the desert. By the way, is DefensiveCarry down for you? I haven't been able to get to it for days!
  4. I just use plain mineral oil like you can get at the pharmacy, and for cleaning it I just rinse them quickly with water and dry with a paper towel.

    Lousy Service

To be fair, they are currently in the process of moving to a completely different facility, so they may have quite a few issues going on with that. I actually had an issue with their service two weeks ago when I called to place an order for their Friday Special on horsehide, but their computers were down so the lady said she would call me back. I never got a call back, so late last week I called again and couldn't find anything stating that I had called and they took my order over the phone then--they charged my account, but I didn't do the math to see if they charged me standard price or the Friday Special price that I tried to get in the first place.
  6. Hi Todd, I'm glad it worked well for you. I readily admit that oldtimer did come up with the design, and I should have given him credit when I posted it, I just couldn't remember who had posted it originally but I should have made an effort anyway, so that was my fault. I'm sure he would have provided you the link to his original thread, or some instructions on how to do it, if I had not posted anything.
  7. Thanks Ray! Here are a couple new pictures now that I got my grips back (it was raining outside so colors are a bit off):
  8. The 1911, Browning Hi Power and Glock 17's seem to be pretty popular around here, but from the requests I have been getting there is a lot of demand and not much supply for Rugers and C&R guns
  9. That is a quick release buckle, and I'm not sure where to get them other than eBay--maybe Ohio Travel Bag?
  10. No idea, but Diomedes Industries makes a threaded rectangular ring, so in theory you could see if they would make you some with a tongue (just a bent piece of metal wrapped around the threaded bar, so you could do that yourself, even)
  11. Makes sense--I was just stating what I've read on it. I still do the BS bath, but I haven't seen any difference aside from the smell, myself--maybe I just don't pay enough attention, though
  12. I've noticed the same thing with vinegaroon, so I burnish before I dunk the piece I'm working on and that makes it much easier to touch up the burnished edge afterward. Can't tell you about the USMC Black, though--I use the Pro Oil Dye for black when I'm not using vinegaroon, and I didn't notice any trouble burnishing with it.
  13. I just taped a pencil along the top of the slide between the front and rear sights for my molded sight channels, but I like the pinned brass rod idea Deanimator has described
  14. It could be your leather--I have had the same batch of vinegaroon come out like you describe on some pieces of leather and pitch black on others. Try soaking the piece in strong coffee or tea to add tannins to the leather and try the vinegaroon again. As far as the best way to make it goes--I use white vinegar, but I don't know that it really matters, and from what I've read up on and tried there really doesn't seem to be any reason to add baking soda to the rinse except to reduce the smell, since leather is more acidic than baking so is naturally so water is plenty neutralizing.
  15. I just finished this holster for my CZ vz. 82, sans grips (they are off being bead blasted for texture right now). It is a pancake style with a sweat shield, chemically blackened with vinegaroon and hand-stitched with black artificial sinew. I designed this holster pattern to fit both the vz. 82 and the CZ83, so I left the stitching around the trigger guard square. That said, I'm still going to tweak the pattern to bring the stitching a bit closer to the gun, and the holster ended up actually being a bit too long (the bottom of the holster overhangs the muzzle by about a centimeter) so I'll fix that, too. Still, this ought to work for a while, anyway.
  16. Beautiful work! I especially like the mag pouch!
  17. Duncan's Customs has the GP100, Blackhawk, and Super Blackhawk. Couldn't tell you on the others
  18. There is a Rings Blue Gun for the LCP and for a couple of others. Duncan's seems to have the widest selection of Ruger that I've found so far, though
  19. I use a #2 for everything, using leather between 5oz and 9oz
  20. Try going to www.java.com and downloading the latest version and reboot. When you install the new version it should replace that file.
  21. Now with a matching mag pouch--I feel all professional now that I've made a matching set, for some reason
  22. Simply, classy, and the coloring is cool--probably one of the nicest Judge holsters I've seen
  23. Well, I don't know about for leatherwork, but I know a few knifemakers and some do individual orders and some do production runs and some dabble in both. The main issue that I've seen with the people doing production runs is when something happens where they need to replace or repair something they've made (usually as part of their guarantee policy) and they simply don't have time because they schedule it after an entire run, rather than an individual order. Aside from that, I think people generally expect the prices to go down when things are done in production runs as opposed to individual orders, simply because you're going to be making the exact same thing over and over again and logic says that you will make them faster the more you make them. Just some thoughts
  24. Thanks Ray! Nobody has ordered a matching holster and sheath set, but there will be a mag pouch going with this holster. I do know that the guy I made the A.S. bowie sheath for has a giant Smith and Wesson revolver that he might want holstered to match someday, though I'll be looking forward to seeing those sheaths! Thanks! I'm glad I could be an inspiration
