As the title says third time is the charm it would seem, Decided to do a little prototyping from a pattern I got from tandy, first one was way to small for even a small smart phone, but it does make a great knife holster for my exactoknife I keep putting it down then looking every where for it only to find it in an odd spot, now with it on my hip I do not lose the damned thing, nor does it fall from the holster so that is nice. Second one (the middle one) was wide enough for a Samsung galaxy s5 but for some damn reason the strap was to short (still not sure about that but ah well) did not really like the way the tooling came out, the dying came out like I thought it would and kind of like the effect. Third one which is holding my phone came out perfect, now will make a 4th one and will be making it out of stingray...first and LAST one out of stingray as it will use up the last of my stingray hide how I hate that stuff its a real bitch to work with!

First attempt to make holster, leaves a lot to be desired, but was enough to hook me up to try more... There is a second holster from an amateur who after making a few more realize how much I really don't know about leather working.

I just finished this holster and thought I would share. I have been working to get this boning thing down and I think I finally got it. Still working thru some dye learning curves but that seems to change from one color to the next. The holster is a snap on pancake with 25* cant for Commander size 1911s. Yes it is a clone of the MS Axiom and TT Gunleather DDOO. The shark trim was chocolate brown before being sealed but now looks black. It works for me though so not a big deal. I used 8/9 leather for this. The seal coat is Tandy's Pro clear gloss. Hand stitched.

Stumbled across this picture on the web somewhere.. guy claiming that one is thicker than the other and thus his was "better". In under a minute, let me show you why it doesn't matter Here's the picture. Somebody was claiming that the one on the right was somehow "thinner" and thus "more concealable" (and it's debated on a number of gun forums). BUT ... In both 'versions', the gun is the same thickness. And there are two layers of leather, one front and one back. And that's it. The gun thickness plus two layers of leather, is the same either way. While they can be made to RIDE differently, just changing which piece gets the molding will obviously NOT change the thickness of the holster. When worn, there could be a little air space between teh wearer and the holster, especially close to the firearm. But the holster where the gun is will be against the hip (in both cases) and the thickness is the same, so they protrude the same amount. So what's the point? Molding in the front panel, or molding both panels to the middle, SAME thickness.

I was trying out a new tracing tool that I made this afternoon, so I used it to do an initial tracing of my Hi Point C9. I just finished drawing this pattern for a holster and thought I would share it with the group. I haven't made a holster from this pattern yet so please keep that in mind if you decide to use it. Make sure to print the file at actual size not scaled to fit. Chris Hi-Point C9 Pancake.pdf

Hey All, Brand new to leather and could use some serious help! I made a double magazine holster (very first project that I didn't scrap) but totally spaced on the belt loop on the back...dumb I know!! But that got me to thinking...How do I install a belt loop without cutting it apart and sewing one on? I was thinking of putting IWB/OWB clips on it as an alternative so I could use it both ways but could use your expertise!! Keep in mind I am BRAND NEW and hand sew still and have very limited tools.... Thanks in advance!!

I bought an LCP-C 380, outfitted with a Crimson Trace and needed a paddle holster that doesn't seem to exist for the combination. Thought it would be a good time to try to make one. So this is my first attempt at creating a holster pattern from scratch, a lined holster, a holster with opening reinforcement, a paddle holster. I also wanted it to match, or at least coordinate with, my first gun belt that I made last year. The gun belt is three ply consisting of two outer plies of 6 oz leather and an inner ply of kydex. The paddle was purchased from G-Code. Belt buckle and chicago screws are stainless. Thread is 277 top and bottom. Stitched on a Cowboy CB3200. I'm pretty happy with the results, although not satisfied with the stitching on the holster (I think tension was too tight). The edging on the holster is improved over the gun belt. Used synthetic gum trag this time... liked it. Dipped in 100% Fiebings Pro Dye, 50/50 Resolene, and (on the holster) a final coat of Sno-Seal. I know Dwight uses Sno-Seal only... might try that next time. I'm just not sold on the benefit of Resolene and it is harder than hell to apply evenly. Tried dipping the holster in it this time, but still had to brush it out. Daubers don't work... maybe my dilution is wrong for it to sheet off after dipping... any suggestions are welcome.

How many you holster boys got a CA Bulldog? I forgot (again) to order a new dummy after my hammer busted off on the concrete floor. SO THEN, wunna you boys got a gun, I'll TRADE you the pattern for this little 2.5" gun for a PICTURE of the holster you made from it. Basically, you take the pattern, make the holster, position the snap on the strap where it should actually go, and send me a pic (or just upload it for everybody) and let me know if the strap is a bit long or WAY too long No need to sign a confidentiality thingie... I assume we all know the pattern is for you (only).

I have been CRAZY busy with my college classes, and therefore not as busy with my leather working. Still, I've gotten a few new projects completed. I'm still working on the Glock 19 holster project, but it's for family and they told me to take my time. That project is nearing completion, however, and I have also made a new holster and mag pouch for my personal concealed carry. As always, critiques are welcomed as long as it's constructive :-) I used the gun as a starting point for the pattern, but then drew the rest by hand (with the help of a curve ruler) This particular mag pouch is for my trips to the range, and not daily carry...though it is comfortable enough I could do so.

Hey guys, first post on the forum. Was hoping to get some critics and pointers on how to improve. Please take a look and let me know what you think. Any help you can provide would be great. A huge thank you to Woolfe, I studied his tutorial heavily when I got stuck.
