First of all, sorry for the potentially sacrilegious thread! I make a lot of embellished snap bracelets and there's a demand for a non-leather alternative. I'm using 5/6 oz leather and want a non-leather/vegan alternative synthetic substitute. I'm die cutting these out and embellishing them with different shapes/sizes of round spots. I also emboss a small logo between the male snap parts but would be willing to skip that step, if need be. Thanks all!

Just finished making these three bracelets, they’re pretty simple but a good chance for me to learn some stamping. Still not got the hang of it, especially bevelling the borders and getting enough depth for definition on the basketweave. But I can see why people like doing it. Sort of. The bracelets are two layers, a 2mm veg-tan shoulder for the tooling and a .8mm calfskin liner of the inside, glued and stitched together. Stitching straight lines is getting a bit easier, always going to need more practice there. Quite pleased with the burnishing on these. Feedback and critique is very welcome

Folios and bracelets

New large folio off the bench and headed to a cattleman in Okeechobee, Fl. This one was kinda fun as I made a branding iron and put his brand on the front. And a bunch of new bracelets headed out. -
I made a wrist cuff/bracelet thing. Veggie-tanned leather, light blue and purple Angelus dye and Eco-Flo Super Sheen top coat, gold stitching, brass button closure, and burnished back. It's a little stiff but I'm overall very pleased with the way it turned out. (This actually isn't my straightest stitching; luckily, the thread covers my wobbly hole-punching.)

So I've finally taken some pictures of my projects. I've been a busy beaver My favorite by far is the embossed alligator wallet. I made one for myself as a tester and for some reason the embossed gator feels so amazing in the hand! Thanks for checking it out. There are several things that I know I could do better on each, but if you see something you would like to critique feel free

Hello again everyone! I am a new old member to the forum. My old account was under ChiefFilipino117 but I forgot my password and the reset option wasn't working for me. So I've been absent for quite some time. I am a newbie and love leathercrafting! I have so many ideas that are in my head that I will bring to life some day. I reside in Tucson, AZ. I am interested in all things leatherwork but I am focusing my skills on carving, sheaths, and masks at the moment. Thanks for being here! Chief Filipino

Ok since starting back up on my chainmail I have been running into a few clients, more every day it seems, that have metal allergies. Some are allergic to copper, some nickel and two clients that are allergic to all metals expect sterling silver and gold (my favourite clients as its top dollar lol). I have been telling a few of them that I will be branching out into leather work soon and wondered what kind of items they would like to see and or buy, once I feel the products that I am making are worth selling. A few want collars (for humans not pets with four legs) and a few said bracelets to match the chainmail bracelets that I already make. So my question is what would be the best kind of lining to use on the back side of the collars and bracelets to cover up the back of the rivets, snaps, conchos and the like? Keep in mind that these items will be worn against direct skin for the most part, especially the collars, so would I need to treat the back with something just to help preserve it against human sweat or should I just leave it be? I was thinking pig skin might work nicely as a backing. All thoughts and ideas are greatly appreciated! The pic is just a small set of chainmail bracelets that I do, might even lay them down on top of some tooled leather once I figure out how I want to attach them.

I need some advice. I want to make leather bracelets with applique kangaroo lacing. I have a full set of Feibings Professional Oil Dye and was told that they would bleed and mark skin and clothing. Question: Can I use Feibings Pro Oil Dye on vegetable tanned leather bracelets & belts or... do I need to buy new dyes? Also... what kind of finish should I use? Thank you!

I whipped these up Saturday for an upcoming craft fair in the first of December. I'm so trying to make sure I don't run out of things to sell. Maybe I'm being too optimistic But I'd rather have 100 too many than not enough. Also any ideas anyone has on smaller things I can make will sure be appreciated. I'm making book marks and key chains too. Cheryl

I recently found myself making a half dozen bracelets for my in-laws, as sort of an "In memory of" trinket. The bracelets are already sent off, so this is more for future reference, but how could I best preserve the leather in something I'm giving away to people who have never given leather the first thought? Given the repetitive tight flexing nature of wristbands and the burning Arizona environment, I fear these memorial bracelets won't last long. I wanted to put some sort of conditioner on them, but everything I found was supposed to be reapplied every month or so, and most of them were wax-based, which I don't imagine would work very well through an Arizona summer anyway. And I can hardly talk the recipients into buying and applying conditioner themselves when I'm not around. Is this a lost cause and we'll just see how long the bracelets last, or is there something I could do next time as a one-time durability enhancement?
