new look

Just  a quick note to say I don't like the new setup . . . 

1.  I enjoyed seeing several of our supporters/suppliers names up at the top each time I came in . . . now there is one.

2.  I don't like the color arrangement . . . makes it look more like a tube of toothpaste or a cereal box.

3.  Whoever took it upon themselves to do this . . . seems to have forgotten that a lot of us here are well past the 40 mark . . . do not always see too well . . . and the size of the text was diminished . . . or because of the color arrangement . . .  it makes it much harder to see and to read.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with larger type . . . in fact . . . lots of people enjoy it.

4.  The perpetrator of this demolition of the site also took it upon themselves to diminish the upper right hand side where newer posts were posted.  There used to be about 10 . . . it is now knocked down to 6 . . . fifteen would be better . . . 

5.  Perhaps whoever did this is patting themselves on the back for such a great job . . . personally . . . again . . . I think it stinks.  It seems they have the mistaken idea that computer face space is costly . . . like space on a newspaper.  If this site supplier is charging you that way . . . you really missed the boat . . . because few do so.

6.  This needs to be fixed . . . period.

I agree 100% with @Dwight.  The first time I saw this I thought it was down for maintenance or something, then it just stayed.

In summary the website was hacked Fri and they're trying to get everything working properly, aesthetics are the least of their worries right now.

I used to be a mod on a forum that had 250+k members and I know there is a lot going on in the background. I did a little forum maintenance and I don't envy you this task.

Once the bones are fixed would it be possible to have a choice of backgrounds in the settings menu for those that like the classic view and those that like a modern look?

I'm sure once things settle down @Johanna will let us know the site is up and running properly. Please keep in mind rebuilding a site after a hack can be very time consuming and we are lucky it is functioning at all.

Yep. I'll make some alternative themes. I just want to get everything else running properly first. Looks like the hacker tried to exploit the mailserver in the old adserver. I kinda like the integrated ads and the flexibility they have not to break the skin. Thanks @BlackDragon and holler if you see anything that needs attention.

Well different strokes for different folks I guess ........ I like it better than the way it was . I have been on some forums that offer a few choices as to skins , backgrounds, and such .

I, for one, really don't care how it looks. Yes the earlier appearance was nice but after a hack, getting the site up again must have been a complicated job and it was done pretty promptly. I think  @Johanna worked non-stop overnight to get it up and running again. So kudos to her and a big thank you. I am just glad it is up and running again. The rest will come. Let's have a little patience, people.

I will make different themes and everyone can choose how they want to see the forum. Right now the server is still doing background clean up tasks and I'm still figuring out how all the new stuff works. When I'm sure all is stable and good I will make themes. Using this one, right now, eliminates a lot of variables while I'm looking at other things. I've been using different versions of this same software now for almost 20 years and themes are not a big deal. I'll make it to where you can click a drop down arrow and select whatever you like best.

At 1 point I was able to toggle between the old theme leatherworker & the new theme leatherworker. But now it only let's me use the new theme.

I had to shut off the old theme because it kept breaking the limits of the sizes things can be. I have to make a new one that works with the current version of this software.

I preferred the old theme look, it was unique. Now the look is like all the other websites on www, it is cold and clinical. I preferred the adverts at the top of the page. Having them dispersed through the messages its hard to tell which adverts should remain and which are 'pop-ups' that need deleted. I'll not use an advert blocker as the website needs those adverts showing fro revenue

All this reminded me I'd not sent a donation for a while. Its done now, so fresh coffee can made on the stove

How are y'all posting pictures? I've tried a few ways but no success. I'm viewing this site on a tablet. I can also view it by phone. Trying to post of picture on either. I get a message the file is too big. 

Any help?

You need to resize your file to the proper size to post. I use shrinkpictures app/website. Size your pictures to 760x800  

I use my phone cause it's all I got to use.

The hacker attempted to exploit the mailserver to send spam. Consequently, LW has made several blacklists for email, where it doesn't even go to spam, just bounces. I'm trying to clear our good name. The server is taking forever to reindex the files, so the search function isn't as reliable as usual. That should resolve itself, but I'm still waiting. When it's done indexing, I can bump up pic size permissions and the software will automatically display it at the best size for your screen. If I change the setting now, it's going to try to affect every pic we have and slow the server down further. I've got it on my list with the new skins you want. Some of this just has to wait until the background tasks finish. I really appreciate everyone's patience. The kind words from you guys makes everything worth it. Thank you.
