3 years ago, I took this machine to a technician and he did a horrendous job, he even broke the revolving bush handle somehow. he also had the audacity to use something similar to J-B Weld Plastic Bonder to replicate the tip of the needle bar. needless to say it completely shattered the first time I used the machine. he also used a hose clamp as a stitch regulator. at the time I just gave up on this machine because I already had a singer 29k and didn't need another one, now I do need it but can't find parts for it anywhere. can anybody please help me? AFAIK I need a bobbin case, stitch regulator, revolving bush handle and that tip of the needle bar where you put the needle in, I have no idea how it's called. It's such a beautiful machine, I don't want it to keep collecting dust and rust..

I don't know the correct name of this part in english but I need to replace it and I can't find anybody that sells it in my country so I'm looking to buy it online from the US, europe or china. can't google it because I don't know how it's called. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380810963466 This is what I've found but I need number 5, not 7.

Thanks KillDevilBill. The client decided to just go with a simple notebook cover for now since he couldn’t decide on the size of the folio to hold his everyday items! lol But I'd still like to make a pen case(s). Are you thinking to make one too?

You scratched an itch dikman, well done.

Tried a window/reveal/inside edge. Not sure I'm getting enough out of it to try again, though I do like the layered/windowed look (applique?)

Thanks for the kind words folks.

Leave it with a natural finish, use a good outdoor boot dressing like Fiebings golden mink oil or some such. That's all I ever use on my holsters.

Outstanding! That hammer now starts life anew. That's some beautiful work.

You can use a VFD (variable frequency drive) to convert single phase to 3 phase.

Thanks folks. I've thought of trying the steel wool or such. I use 50/50 pretty much anyway. Haven't thought of talc. Good ideas.

Singer never made service manuals for any of their machines,if you need service they would send their factory trained techs to you.So the closest you can get is thei one for a similar Juki 158. Juki 158 operators manual.pdf

You can also add varying amount of talc into resolene which will give varying degrees of mattness. Talc added to any paint or varnish in small-ish amounts acts as a matting agent
-
There are a couple way to do this. 1. Resolene/water 1:1. Do a couple coats then put some type of wax over that. It'll soften the shine but it doesn't stay, they would have to wax it every so often. 2. Resolene/water 1:1. Do a couple coats let it cure 24 hours. Add a 3rd coat and lightly knock it down with either #0000 steel wool or a Magic Eraser. Again you have to do this lightly 3. Go with a different finish like Satin sheen.

I used to use Tandy's Satin Sheen. Looking on their website now, I see Eco-Flo Satin Sheen. It appears to be the same product, but I am not certain. Probably is though. Not completely Matte but low-sheen. Instead, you could use Neutral shoe polish. With shoe polish, the customer can touch-up their holster easily. https://tandyleather.com/products/eco-flo-satin-shene?_pos=1&_sid=88e6f60ec&_ss=r

Try a final buffing with talcum powder

I have a customer who wants his holster to not be shiny. I usually use Resolene but that is a glossy finish. Any suggestions?

I made a new post to add that info and lowered the prices some but now I can't figure out how to delete this one. -
Hello, I have a few machines I’m ready to part with. Cowboy 4500, comes with the whole accessory package with the table and a bunch of feet, lots of extra bobbins and I have thread that’ll go with it in white, black, brown, red etc. also plenty of needles. Has the gear reduction and DC servo motor. Hasn’t been used all that much. New price is about 3400 w/acc package. $1800.00 Consew 206-RB-5. With Servo motor, several feet sets, bobbin, some thread. Thread stand(not pictured). Also not really a ton of usage, table is stained a bit from dye and cement, would probably clean up with some thinner. New price is 1795.00. $800 Last one I’m still debating on letting it go. It’s a Textima patcher which is a rebranded Claes 20. It’s got the good gear reduction motor, I also have 5 extra shuttles which are crazy expensive. Currently mounted to a rather cheap stand but I also have a treadle base for it. New ones are close to 7k. $2000 I also have a Skiver machine I’m going to post in the other section. It’s a dual feed bell sliver w/servo from Toledo Machine, not sure what the new price is on that but I’ll take $600.00 I’d certainly prefer this to be an in person pickup transaction but if you want to pay for freight I do work at a warehouse and have the ability to have them shipped LTL. But there’s nothing better than a road trip to pick up a machine, I traveled all over to pick these up(other than the Consew which I had Freighted in. Zip code is 16602.

It might be quite a stretch to find a manual from just a picture. What is the model number?? - Bill
