i carry a complete survival bag in both my rigs, with food and stove plus blankets, plus extra gloves, coats and hats lol. With the wind and lack of trees, the winds could kill you in minutes here with no possible way to build a fire in these conditions. When I was about 18 i was stranded overnight in a huge blizzard out in the oil field with two other guys in a pickup truck. We survived by staying awake all night and wrapping our feet together in a xtra pair of coveralls. Here's a tip: if that ever happens to you, drink as much water as you can before it freezes, and you get too cold to. Also all your food will freeze too. We had crackers that night lol dry with no water. they finally found us and got us out about noon the next day to a small town where we were still snowed in at for another day. After about six hours, the coolest ice circles form from your breath that you have ever seen on the inside of a vehicle but not so cool in the morning, the sun comes out and melts them for your first survival shower. -

Woke up to no water this morning. The cold caused a water main break. At least we have a nice skating rink in the street! Hope the water dept. can get it taken care of quickly. -
Can a worn case/hook prevent adjustment of case opener lever.

I'm glad we're moving forward on this one. When I get home tonight, if there's not some resolution on this, I'll go up and rotate through my similar machine. -
Thanks, Thanks to you Cumberland . . . as well as "Good job there, Pardner" I've got an old brass buckle that I've hung on to . . . I knew some day I'd figure a use for it . . . and it'll take some "doing" . . . but I can see a belt in my future that will have a leather cover over the brass buckle . . . It's one of those buckles ya buy to prove you went to that event . . . but 40 years later . . . most folks don't recall the event ever happening . . . and the brass is kind of dirty black ugly anyway. May God bless, Dwight

OK here's two videos. One is me moving the pulley very slowly so the action of the case opener on the case/tab can be seen, and how the case opener itself is still in contact with the case when the thread tries to pass through at the end. That's where the problem lies. As mentioned earlier, if I back off the case opener slightly to allow the thread to get through, the case tab is not rotated anti-clockwise enough to let the thread past the front side of the tab. The 2nd video is to show how much "rocking" there is in the case as it rotates. It's floppy as hell. 20260128_183115.mp4 20260128_183357.mp4 -

What sewing machine should I purchase?

If I search craigslist, 39401. With eBay, I merely search the entire website. I'll see what that does. - Yesterday

What zipcode are you searching? -
Checked my email, and I don't see anything there. (not surprised, since the "follow topic" toggle was not checked)

They're a brick and mortar business that's been in the same location for 28 years now. They have more parts than you can shake a stick at! Plus, it's a family run business. -

I think you are all unexpectedly getting what we up north get lots of. If you have a vehicle breakdown, one guideline in the north is that you start a fire first, make repairs second. This is often not a concern in warmer areas, but it's a lot easier to stay warm, than it is to get warm. Be well, everyone. Help neighbours. All that warm stuff. -
Hello this is friquant, testing as a new user to see what the default notification settings are. The goal is to improve the default notifications settings so new users will realize someone has answered their post. So this is my first post as a new user "test32". The first thing I notice is that the "Follow Topic" toggle is NOT enabled by default. See screenshot. I suggest we change this default to "enabled" for new users. I'll go ahead and click "submit" and see what happens.

will have to make a before and after video. -
I got another saddle stand so the Navajo saddle is setup for display now. The stirrups are an antique set of wood oxbows that seemed fitting, and the stirrup leathers they are hanging from I cut and laced together to "fill the hole." I left the leather lighter color intentionally so its obvious they are not original, but might stain them to match at some point. I don't want it to look like a forgery though. At some point I plan to make a set of simple skirts as well, unless I can find some used ones to recycle from a western saddle that fit the saddle and look right with it. My goal is to complete the setup as much as I can for display, but to preserve the original saddle as it is. The Navajo blanket I a bit tattered on the ends, so I'm going to add some padding under it. My Dad used to hand sew canvas behind some of these rugs if they were coming apart, and I think this one is a good candidate for that.

You could make the other type of mechanics belt for her. There's a type that has no buckle, but rather a metal hook hidden on the underside of where the buckle would normally be. It's all "leather" on the exterior. Allot of those qualify as a "2 prong" buckle as well, since many were made with 2 "prongs" on the backside.

I think is is BECAUSE the person doesn't have a background in chemistry or paint that they are asking on this forum how to do it. Seems like they are looking for someone who DOES have that background and already DOES make their own edge paint (without paying the really high premiums of many manufacturers) to help them figure out how to do it. No offense, but it seems obvious the person is not asking to be told to just go out and buy it.
