  1. Is the belt dedicated to the holster or uses the pants belt? Does he draw right handed or left? Is that a snap buckle on the strap at the top of the holster? It just looks very neat. Thanks for sharing it. Sorry for all the questions, just need to wrap my head around it. I have a 10 1/2 inch Blackhawk and I made a belt holster for it. Hangs past my knee. Too long for your type rig too I fear for me. I just need to get taller.
  2. I have made several of the Ben Thompson type for single actions but they go under the opposite armpit crossdraw. Would love to see it in action. I really like where the cartridge loops are.
  3. I made something similar to the one LePoisson made a while back. Worked OK but I did not think to grind the blade off. Cut myself a lot. His design is so much better. And I only do 3 or 4 widths.
  4. Thanks. I mostly use 8-9 oz but I have some 5-6 I could try.
  5. My wife is a librarian. I was going to make some tooled leather bookmarks for gifts ( maybe I could manage this small a leather item). She said they would be too thick and damage the books. Anybody had success with these?
  6. Consew 225 manual (clone of 111) with threading instructions. https://s3.amazonaws.com/a.teamworksales.com/CONSEW+PDF/CONSEW+NEW/CONSEW+225+INSTRUCTION+MANUAL.pdf This is manual for a very similar model. http://keysew.com/Webpages/DemoImages/USNavySinger111WConsew225REPAIR.pdf

  8. I’d rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6.
  9. Got this as a retirement gift. Have not used it yet. Still admiring.
  10. Here is a chart comparing metric sizes to number sizes of thread from Toledo Machine https://www.tolindsewmach.com/thread-chart.html The 138 thread which Shoepatcher mentioned as max on this machine is 1/2 the diameter of your 0.8 mm thread. I have a 225 which I think is similar class and it won’t go bigger than 138.;
  11. I am no familiar with donut magnets, but would a flat round magnet with hole drilled serve the same end?
  12. Your motor plate says 2.8 amp. Might need to replace dryer circuit breaker with a 20 amp breaker.
  13. 138 thread is 0.414 mm. Probably be too fast unless you add a speed reducer. Smaller motor pulley would help a bit. Take some of your stuff and try sewing on it. 462 thread is 0.8 mm.
  14. Wonder if the magnets you rub on a screwdriver to magnetize it would be powerful enough to magnetize the arbor?
  15. I have a long magnet (maybe 16 inch) made to mount tools on a workbench. It is strong enough to not move if stuck to the machine bed as a guide.
  16. Can find the orphan drawers sometimes in antique shops.
  17. It is smoother and has ammo loops on opposite side. However, it makes it awfully wide to get pants cuff down over it. I am going to make another base strap without cartridge loops to make it narrower. The holster pouch is just attached with Chicago screws for now.
  18. A slightly improved version.
  19. Found another way to go with this. Had this old Milwaukee drill unused. Kinda retro. My wife provided a wooden thread spool which I grooved in drill press. Works okay.
  20. Thanks to you Frodo and all our veterans.
  21. The point I tried to make, and I am sure the original poster of this thread is not needing all this, is what change in speed would you get for the same machine from original setup with 3/1 speed reducer VS changing the original handwheel to the larger pulley setup? Not sure what the machine in question had for handwheel diameter to start out.
  22. I think the pulley change is great if it works for you. In my case (Consew) I could not find machine shaft size without pulling off. I figure metric on a Japanese machine. Lots of SAE pulleys here, metric not so much. I could not figure how to release handwheel. I guess they have setscrews I could not find. I figured I needed to use a pulley puller which might damage handwheel. I have no idea where I would get handwheel replacement if damaged. I made my own reducer and someone here said I should have bought a factory one. Everyone here has a different situation. Shop skills and tool availability, access to commercial sewing machine dealers, hobby or sewing commercially, international access to parts and supplies, broke or not. I applaud your resourcefulness just maybe not for everyone.
  23. Taper loc pulley sets ain’t cheap. Also you can’t get as much speed reduction that way. Going from a 4 inch to an 8 inch handwheel only gives a 2-1 reduction, while the commercial speed reducers are something like 3-1.
